i bought my phone from a shop called cex here in the uk i enjoyed my nexus i9020 till the power button stopped working i got it exchanged for a i9023 but the phone does not boot up and is stuck on the google part of the boot up where the lock is if your unlock the bootloader. normally i have to boot it though adb which is a hassle is there anyway to fix this ?
I donot know how to fix it completely but it is probably because you don't have any software or system on the phone which is whta happened to my brother's phone. I recommend getting help tto install an android system update manually (google search) and install it using recovery, install from sd card and choose the android system file zip.
Good Luck!

Try entering the fastboot mode by pressing and holding both Vol up and power button once there .. scroll down to recovery with volume down and press the power button on recovery ... once u see the triangle with exclamation mark in center... press but not hold power and volume up (might take a few tries)...once in recovery see if the phone has a Restore on it... if it does.. you are one lucky S.O.B lol

Since he can't boot Android there's only one (two if you count Odin) option.
unlock bootloader via fastboot.
flash cwm recovery from bootloader menu with adb.
format everything with cwm recovery.
download any rom for your device, eg the stock one from the sticky in general section.
mount usb storage (remember to mount /sdcard first).
copy rom onto storage, unmount storage, install zip from sdcard. done.

Ok hi guys while trying to get AOKP to work i was messing around with the blob tools and i flashed an update .zip with this blob and it just boots straight in to recovery tried the recovery fix no luck im on B80 so unless nvflash for sbkv2 comes out tomorow im guessing im screwed well heres the blob youtube video coming. Heres My recovery log
the first time i rebooted i held down the left rocker and it didn't even ask me if i wanted to wipe data or coldboot it just said wiping data booting to recovery
"wiping user data and indicators before cold booting Linux
Please wait a few minutes
Booting recovery kernel image"
Did you flash a custom recovery agent like CWM?
If not, you could try downloading the latest official ASUS firmware for your device. Unzip the file one time (it will still be a zip file) and put it on the top level of a microSD card and boot.
If you did flash a custom recovery, you will need to know how to get into the custom recovery agent. CWM hold VOL DOWN and POWER for 10-12 seconds and then press VOL UP within 5 seconds to enter recovery.

Thanks for the reply but i have cwm installed and when holding down it just straight boot to cwm with going to the coldboot menu watch the video you'll see
I downloaded the firmware file and it didnt even read it just booted straight to recovery
If you still have cwm recovery, try flashing a stock ROM. That should get you unroot and stock recovery.
You can then root and install cwm again.

I've tried flashing custom Rom after custom Rom it doesn't go throught the blob flash animation I don't want to try flashing a stock Rom and losing cwm then ill be completely screwed I think the staging partition might be borked but cwm formats it fine in the morning ill try the super wip script and see if that fixes it I really hope it isn't bricked

tried the super wipe script with no luck no matter what the thing won't go in to the blob flashing part of the boot when a new blob would be found i don't know why

Nope not yet I think it might be a problem with the mount points but I'm not sure I'm waiting for say roach or someone who knows about the internal workings of the device because I never really messed with it like I do my o ther devices

Ohh yeah, the 5.5.0.4 mount points are different- you might have to mount them through adb or flash a rom that is packaged to use the partition names, not mount points.
I think your TF is fine- it's probably just missing a rom so it keeps booting into recovery. Try flashing this- it's just a kernel, but the updater script doesn't rely on the mount points. If it flashes, then your tf is fine other than the lack of firmware.

Odd indeed- I wonder if it has to do with how you wiped the /misc partition. I'm not sure if there is other info in there, but if there was, it's gone now.
Problem is, somehow the 'boot into recovery' command got stuck - it won't even get to flash the blob.
You can do the following (fixed my tab when I had the same problem):
1. In recovery, connect to PC
2. ADB Shell into the tab
3. Clean the MISC partition (or whichever holds the boot commands) using dd:
dd if=/dev/block/zero of=(the partition, /dev/block/mmcblk0p[n] where N is the partition number of MISC) bs=1024
4. Flash any blob
5. Reboot for blob to get flashed.

Yea no matter what its either not finding the blob or the part of the functionality the sees the blob has been currupted or deleted or something messed up with the mount points. Is the folks at android root.mobi still working on nvflash for sbkv2 or did they stop

hey guy's
After a faild attempt ot install CM10 on my phone
Im getting "this build is for development bla bla bla..." massage,
now, Im trying to go back to recovery mood but(!) there's this horrifying triangle with exclamation mark that take's me right back to the
"this build etc..." massage.
is there anything that i can do?
or I should just toss my device into the toilet?
I'm not 100% sure but somehow u deleted your recovery (twrp or cwm) if this is the problem Cuz I don't know 100% if it is this u need to flash the recovery again there are some ways u can do this
Go into the bootloader and try flashing recovery again using ur pc like u did before
Fastboot flash recovery (name of file). Img
That should install the recovery again then if that works u can Adb push a rom onto the phone or mount usb storage and put a rom into the phone and boot up again

boot.img is not a recovery image.
It should be something like recovery-twrp.img or recovery-cwm.touch.img or something similar.
Do a quick google search and download cwm touch and flash how I told u above file name should be something like member posted above

Yes phone booted in bootloader it say FAST BOOT & STATUS UNLOCKED, I can't enter in recoverymod, as I enter in recovery mod I get dead android with red ! mark.
When I purchased this phone (a few days back) I had Gingerbread, I updated it n due to low signals (I think) ICS installed properly but when it came to installing applications it got hanged, now I can't run applications properly as it reboot if I try to open any application.
I again try to update it from wifi from ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.1 ( As new update was available) but after complete download of JB when it started to installing I got that dead android sign with RED ! mark.
Do you have any idea what happened wrong?

MOUNT USB... 5. COPY RECOVERY ZIP FROM COMPUTER TO PHONE.. 6. USE RECOVERY TO INSTALL FROM SD / FLASH THE RECOVERY YOU COPIED.. 7. ENJOY YOUR CUSTOM RECOVERY..

Please guide me a little bit details as I'm new user of Nexus S & Thanks in advance..
You said install custom recovery right? now I have downloaded 2 files for Clockworkmod recovery 6.x.x.x. one is in .ZIP format & other is in .img format. Now the question is
1). Do I have to flash recovery by using this advance option of Nexus Root Tool Kit by clicking on FLASH PERMANENT & then clicking on recovery & then giving the path of CMW 6.x.x.x.IMG and then after giving the path clicking on ROOT & checking the "And also flash custom recovery" option?
2). Can I install .ZIP file CWM 6.x.x.x.ZIP by just putting it into the SD card of Nexus S, turning the phone on into RECOVERY mode and the selecting INSTALL .ZIP from SD card (Something like this) then locating CWM 6.x.x.x.ZIP & it will install it automatically?
I installed CWM recovery in my Samsung Galaxy Gio a year back & then installed Cyanogenmod in that phone but I have forgot the procedure but I think I did it like I entered into recovery mode by pressing some buttons & then install zip from SD (I think I did like this but not sure).
P.S: I can enter into recovery when I see DEAD ANDROID with RED ! then I press volume up + power button 2 times then it shows me stock recovery.
One last thing to ask, you said CHANGE SCREEN SETTING TO ZERO? What does it means? Screen setting of Laptop or Mobile (Brightness or what?)
Thank you very much for your support :highfive:

Option 2.. flash recovery zip... The screen setting is in the temporary recovery.. If it times out the screen will go black and you will have to use the Toolkit to reboot your phone.. If you use the recovery in my signature, it has usb mounting support.. other CWM's may not..

One more question just to conform something, can I use this Philz Touch 5.06.1 (Latest) on my STOCK ROM? I'm having ICS 4.0.4 build number IMM76D, can I flash this recovery? I have remember the old days when I flashed CWM in my Samsung Galaxy Gio, they had 4 types of CWM. One was for some RAW disk format, another was for EXT4 (Something like that).
Can I install it for I.C.S 4.0.4? Do I have to root my Nexus S I9023 after that or is it already rooted? that UNLOCK means my phone is rooted? What about the Super user application? DO I have to install in separately? Can I install Cyanogenmod after install this recovery or should I have to install Super user before installing Cyanogenmod? I have remember when I install Cyanogenmod on my Galaxy Gio, the Super User was already there..
Lots of questions for you again but these are just to conform that I'm leading towards right direction, please answer so that I must start flashing Philz Touch 5.06.1.
Thanks in advance :highfive:

You should be able to flash the recovery by using the below command when in fastboot
Fastboot flash recovery nameoftwrp.IMG
You will need to cd command to the folder your twrp recovery .img file is.
Also did the install complete or cut off half way through install?
Were you using twrp 2.7.1.1?
Have you completed all the prerequisites in miniwhoopers ic thread?
