I noticed that if i leave the screen on (with gravitybox) for a mid-long period, e.g. 30/60 min, the display will start flickering (or jumping) and the oscillation will increase with time. The only solution is to turn off the phone and let it rest for some time then power it on. Do you know why?

I am not sure if mine is related, but today my Nexus 5's screen flickered then went black. I can feel the phone vibrate when holding the power button down. But still nothing, tried plugging into computer and after unplugging I hear the low power chime. So I know that it is working aside from the screen staying black.
The phone is running 4.4.3 stock that I flashed via twrp, with faux123 18u kernel, exposed installer, gravity box. This could all be coincidence, and I could just have a bad screen. But does anyone have any suggestions?

WARNING: not a native english speaker.
when I try to start the phone the following occur:
the display light turns on, shortly after that the phone emits that startup vibration, the backlight remains on for aprox. 85 seconds then the phone aparently shuts down. that meant, the backlight of the display turns off.
problem history:
I was at work and as usual i was listenin to music via handsfree. while my phone was in poket it seemed that somehow my poket pressed the sleep button and turned the screen up. no prob here. i got the phone out of ma poket. reverted the volume @ maximum and then locked the phone and turned the screen off and putted back in pocket. after some time i wanted to change the song. got out the phone, turned on the screen but nothink apeared except a horizontal line in the middle of the screen. I tried to shut down/up the screen but nothink apeared. after a couple of tries the screen turn on but it was unusual what i saw on it. I saw a sketch of the energy rom home screen with diferent colors.
Meantime i was tryng to get the screen outta sleep the music still played in the phones.
I thaugt that a reset will do but it didn't. got out the battery and got home. reasembled it, powerd up the phone and voila! the phone started up normaly. got out the battery, introduced the sim card. powerer up the phone but bad luck. the happiness was short lived. the problem camed back. another thing i noticed is that when i powwer on the phone i let it on but it wont output that energy rom bootup sound.
Can someone elude me with whats the problem with my phone?
hope I was clear enough!
Have a great day/night!
UPDATE: LEFT IT OVERNIGHT WITHOUT THE BATTERY AND NOW ASSEMBLED BACK. IT'S WORKING BUT I THINK IF I GIVE A RESTART THE problem will come back.
So it seems that my phone backlight stays on at random times after pressing the power button to turn screen off. I don't notice it in the day because the background is black, but i've noticed while using my phone at night that the back light stays on. I can't recreate the issue, it just happens at random times. Doesn't matter what ROM i use, it still did it with all roms. Does anyone else get this problem? The reason i say problem is because it drains the battery quickly when the backlight is on. It can go from 60% to Dead in less than an hour.
Currently running stock rooted 2.3.6
Screen is at lowest brightness
I Always press the power button to turn off screen when i'm done using it
I have screen timeout set to the lowest (15 seconds)
Any ideas?
I had this happen once when testing out chainfire3d. Restored a cwm backup and haven't seen it since.
got same problem once
When i had this prob, i was running RootDim @ background, so make sure u are not running any LCD brightness modifiers at the moment.
As the title suggests, sometimes when my tf700 has had a long period of being idle if I go to use it and press the power button nothing will happen. I can still hear it functioning though cause I've accidentally taken screen shots when trying to reboot it when this happens, the screen is just black and I have to reset it.
Any suggestions?

Try switching WiFi sleep off and see if it helps.
Wifi sleep off?
I have that happen to me more than a few times. I just end up hitting power button and just tapping the corner. It works sometimes. but it's not always faster than just rebooting. Although, if you're going to reboot, just hold the power button till device shuts off.
What I think is happening is not that it's not waking, the display is just not turning on. I noticed this by plugging in the charger, which always turns on the display and device.
Yeah, the display isn't coming back up. I've noticed that too because I can still hear events occur (ie: unplugging the charger).
Another user on here tipped me off that it could be that it's in power save mode and the dimmer is COMPLETELY down, if you bump the brightness dimmer up just a hair, even 1 notch, it'll stop it from doing it, or at least it's stopped it so far for me since I changed it.
Why start two threads on the same issue?
Lately my Nexus 5 (running CM11) will occasionally turn allow me to turn the screen on, and the notification LED will start slowly flashing a whitish-blue color.
It even seems to resist me trying to reset it, as I'll hold the power button down for 30 seconds at a time and it won't reboot. After doing this 5 or 6 times eventually it'll reboot and then act fine.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of behavior or know something to try? It's been happening for a few weeks now so I'm not sure if it started with the latest M-build or is unrelated.
Thanks,
Bish
Hello everyone,
I bought a LCD replacement for my OPO, and asked a friend to replace the screen (he had his own OPO, and changed the screen on it a couple times, so I trusted him).
The frame was not included, so the phone is without it unfortunately.
But I have this problem with the screen itself...
I boot the phone, everything goes well, it boots, everything ok, I can do everything...
Then the phone goes to sleep after the 30s, and sometimes when I press the button to turn it on, the lights in the bottom light up, I can hear sounds, I can swipe to answer calls for example, but the screen stays all black.
If I press the power button to turn it to sleep mode and then click again to wake it within 1 or 2 seconds, it works everythime.
Its just when it goes to sleep... And then I have to press the power button to reset the phone, and it boots again.
I'm using the LineageOS Rom, and I never had problems like this before replacing the LCD.
What caused this? Could the screen be "broken" when I bought it?
Thank you for reading this and for the help!

Well, clearly the issue is lcd itself.Happened with me on my last screen replacement,it was defective.Though in my case,I had to power on/off the device to get the display back.Get a refund or replacement, there's no other alternative.
