I'm not sure if this is the proper place to ask this but I'm not sure where else to ask.
My Nexus 5 phone goes pretty much everywhere with me. So it would be really cool if I could just whip it out and dictate a quick reminder note for later.
I know there are many note apps that can take dictation and transcribe it into text. But it takes many steps to unlock the phone, go to the app, select microphone, and save. It would be nice if there was an app that one could put right on the lockscreen which would work without needing to unlock, is quickly voice activated, and to which one can just dictate in 1-2 steps. Like the many dictating cassettes one can dictate to by just pressing a single record button. But, the app would take advantage of Android to go further and turn the dictation into a text note.
I've searched the play store but have not found something like that. Does such a dedicated app exist? It would be very useful.
"ok google">"note to self..."

Thank you for replying.
Using note to self as a search term I also found other possibilities that don't go thru Google.
Thanks
If you don't want to use Google Now there's also Google Keep for voice notes and recordings.
Thank you. I will look into it. I've never used it.
Appreciate the suggestion.

When some one calls me and i go to reach for the phone i tend to grab it by the screen and either answer it un-wanting or shoot them to voice mail, can i disable those buttons and just use the hardware buttons to answer and hang up?

You can try TouchLockPro, with registry setting LockTouchPanelOnly = 1.

Cool thanks guys, The auto locker works nice, i love the idea of being able to disable the buttons with that first tool but it doesn't work for me :-\. Any ideas?
I can open it and tells me its already enabled and asks if i would like to disable it, but the buttons still work.
Coming from WinMo and having had SPB Mobile Shell installed, I've become accustomed to having a widget on my homescreen that shows not only missed calls, but my number of new texts, voicemails and emails. I've searched both directly here on the forum and using google with xda in the search terms, and I haven't been able to come up with any sort of widget or app that does what I'm looking for so far.
I've seen ones that work solely for one form of communication or another, but not all of them at once.
Am I missing it? Does such a thing exist, either here or in the Market?
So, does the lack of replies mean that such a thing doesn't exist, and I'm going to need to hunt down separate apps/widgets for each type of notification, or does the lack of replies mean that nobody can believe I asked such a boneheaded question because the answer is supposed to be totally apparent (to everyone else but me)?

Looks really great, i installed it and tried several of the skins. Only downside for me is that it takes up a lot of ram, and ram is precious
lol went to reply and hit thanks instead (welcome..)
but what I wanted to say is, how can you justify the permissions of that app?
They give no explanation at all, and has access to your SMS, Phone ID, Contacts, etc.

That is easy to answer it needs access to sms to display unread sms, to phone to display missed calls, to contacts to show to name in the missed call....

Hi guys and girls just wanted to share something I found out while fiddling around with my phone anyways you probably already know hide it pro stores hidden media in sdcard/ProgramData/Android/Language/.fr if you didn't well now you do what that meant was people can access your media without entering the app but everything else was safe (messages hidden apps browsing) well not anymore I recently found out that you can bypass the whole passcode situation and enter the "vault" with little effort this places all the things I said above at risk I hope that this tread sheds some light on the situation and it is fixed but anyways here it is first of all this only works on holo launcher (I assume I don't know anything about programming)
Tap and hold on an empty screen area
Now hit shortcuts

Hit Activities
Scroll down to and hit audio manner
Hit that it'll create a shortcut that leads directly into your vault
The only way I've found to fix this is to lock hide it pro with app lock which even after doing this leads you to this
hopefully this is fixed
IF I HELPED HIT THANKS

Hi folks
I was just wondering if any fellow mix 2s users had the same issue as me.
Basically,if you use the Google Assistant / OK Google function to send an sms,it will appear in your native messaging app twice, one of those messages will have a number indicating which sim it was sent from, while the other will not.
However the person receiving the text will just receive one sms as they should...
I only got the phone recently and it updated to miui 10 so not sure if its just a bug in the software or it existed in previous versions,or perhaps its just my phone....Also I have tried a factory reset too and still persists
Ive attached an image below, hopefully it will help understand what I mean...Any help much appreciated...

I've noticed this too. This has been going on for a long time now, at least since Google Assistant has been around. I've owned multiple Xiaomi devices, and it's happened on all of them.
This is my first xiaomi device,it's a very annoying little bug..but as least it's some comfort knowing it's not just my phone I guess ha.... Mostly I just use the voice assistance with android auto in the car for sending sms.
I've forwarded the bug to xiaomi not that it will change much I guess as you mentioned you had several devices and it's always been like that...
Appreciate your input anyway bud!
