I have Rooted EE4 Debloated 4.2.1 installed on my SamChg.
I am having a problem with GMail that nobody has fixed yet (or responded to much, darn it ).
In an attempt to fix my GMail problem, I was thinking of doing a Factory Reset. Would doing the Factory Reset still get me back to Rooted Debloated 4.2.1 with CWM and Voodoo?
P.S.: It sure would be nice if CWM Recovery was working, tho.
Thanks,
have you tried to uninstall gmail and reinstall it?
I just tried removing/reinstalling GMail, and it had no effect. I still get 2 notifications for each new GMail I receive - one with the default notification ringtone, and one with the ringtone selected in the GMail app.
Nobody else has responded much to my questions on this problem, so I figured I should reset my SamChg back to Factory Defaults and see what happens.
That should only blow about 2 hours of time to get back to where I am now
A factory reset does not get you back to a stock ROM, but it gets you to a fresh version of whatever ROM you have installed, and certainly may help your problem. That sounds like a specific issue on your phone, so that's a good troubleshooting step, though fairly heavy handed since it will reset everything on your phone. Have you tried just going in to your list of applications and clearing the data for GMail?
I tried clearing the settings, but it had no effect. When I re-enabled Gmail syncing, I got 2 notifications.
I actually don't think that doing the Factory Reset will solve the problem, but I don't know what else to do right now.

Do you have any other app setup to check your Gmail email? Or another address that email is forwarded to from Gmail that your phone is also checking?

Hi, imnuts - I don't have any other apps checking GMail when I am experiencing this problem.
On the other hand, the only way I have found to fix this problem - currently - is to:
Turn off GMail Sync (under Account Sync),
Freeze the GMail application, and then
Setup my GMail through the TW Email app (with "Push" delivery).
It's a mess I shouldn't need to do, and I also have much slower GMail delivery since I'm at Verizon's mercy as to when *they* want to "push" my email to me.
Also, I don't have any other emails routed to the GMail application.

I'd consider the Factory Reset. I've seen stranger things fixed by that. If that doesn't work, reflash the ROM and kernel.

The past couple of days I've been trying to figure out what/how to fix my framework crashes. I finally got to do a factory reset and I haven't seen any issues so far...
"Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want."
Well, I got some experience.
Doing a Factory Reset on the Debloated v4.2.1 is a VERY BAD THING.
There was virtually nothing available in the App Drawer (not even the Market). In addition, I can't get connected to the 4G network now. I get 5 signal bars, but it never connects to 4G (and, poorly to 3G). Not to mention all the FCs, so I won't mention them.
So, I ODIN'd to the EE4 DXC Voodoo, and it's better. But, I still can't connect to the 4G network.
Sigh.
OK - I got my 4G back, along with most (but not all) of my apps.
I also have the darned GMail double-notifications back, too.
Guys,
Anyone else having this issue, ever few days I get this error
The Application Google Services Framework (process com.google.precess.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again

I just went through this on my Thunderbolt.
It's usually an issue with corrupted contact or calendar.
To fix it you have to turn off syncing automatic. Then manually try syncing one by one all the Google services. When you get to the one that causes the force close, turn syncing off. Go to settings... applications... clear data and cache for the offending app, then clear data and cache for Google services framework... force stop them if they're running. Reboot your phone. Try syncing again.
That worked for me.

That's not reassuring - I had this problem earlier this week. It's the reason I was jumping back and forth between ROMs and bricking my phone in the process. Hahaha. No matter what I did the crashes would persist.
Anyways, my resolution was to do a factory reset since /data was the only partition that never got wiped when switching ROMs. I haven't had any issues since. I restored all my apps with data with TiBu. I left all the system settings alone and input my settings manually.
But, when I did notice these issues start occurring it was only after I got a random soft reboot. My phone was just sitting on the counter when I heard the bootup sound.

Funny you mention this, because I noticed one of my contacts disappeared when I switched to this phone. Turns out two of my contacts somehow automagically merged together. It was still like that after I wiped /data, but I fixed it manually.
To the OP, it's something worth looking into. If it matters, the two contacts were my dad and bro. It's the same last name and the first names start with the same letter, but in no way are they similar.

Something is corrupting your calendar or contacts.
Do you know which is the culprit?
It's tedious, but if you do, go through each contact or calendar entry that syncs and find the offending one.
You didn't make it initially clear that you'd also turned off syncing and cleared the data in something beyond google services. If you skipped that, all you're doing is trying to repush the bad data on your phone back to the server, which pukes at the attempt and crashes your phone's services.

If you're coming from an HTC sense phone, I think the problem might be related to how it tries to link contacts. Every time I put a new install or rom on my Thunderbolt, the first thing the HTC sense stuff wants to do is link all my google contacts to the phone contacts. What's odd about that is the contacts on the phone come from Google in the first place, so what's the linking needed for?
Another thing I forgot to mention, the phone would crash doing basically anything with calls/SMS, and none of my services were synching properly. Only when I received a call or SMS would my GVoice SMS and GMail update.

I agree, it is an odd scenario. Even more odd, I was coming from pure Android with my Moto Droid on CM7. I never had a phone with an overlay nor did I link multiple Google contacts together, and I hadn't encountered this problem before when switching between ROMs on that or my NOOKcolor. This is actually the first Android device I've had where the contacts could be saved on the phone, but I still prefer to sync everything to the cloud.
I'm just glad my phone is running smooth again and hope the same for the OP.
Sometimes when I open the Google Talk app, it begins to open and then apparently crashes and I'm back on my home screen. The only way to fix this is to reboot my phone. But it happens again sometime later and I don't know why. Does anybody else have this issue or know how to fix it?
This was happening to me yesterday... rebooted and it hasn't happened since.
Once we get S-Off, we can upgrade to the new Talk (1.3 I believe) with video chat...
Well good to see that I'm not the only one with the problem. It hasn't happened to me for a few days now. Can't wait for the newest version!
I went to settings -> accounts & sync and synced everything including the Background Data. Seems to work.
Okay, guys, here's the problem. I have been pulling my hair out for days over this. On any Lollipop ROM I install, no matter what combination of gapps and AOSP ROM I install on my OPO, after completely and totally formatting caches, system, data, and /data/media, the problem persists:
Always after logging into an account, but not always the same one, I start to get an error "android.process.acore has stopped." It happens every few seconds and renders the device unusable. I have tried every fix I could find online, including wiping contacts storage data, contacts data, etc. I have formatted my phone several times, and each time the problem comes back. It only stops when I disable Contacts Storage in settings, which then in turn disables all contacts functionality.
This is getting totally ridiculous, and the only thing I can think of is that the AOSP version of contactsprovider.apk is totally corrupt. Any ideas?
I have the same problem... Did you succeed in resolving it?

Somewhat. The issue manifests itself when Facebook is synced with your contacts, and you use Facebook OAuth to sign into another app. For whatever reason, this causes the contacts app to go nuts, and the only way to fix it once it happens is to get rid of the Facebook app. It's a bug that is quite beyond me to fix. There is a modded Facebook apk floating around somewhere, that has had permissions modded so it's not allowed to use your contacts or register as an account in your phone. That works. It also works if when you install a new ROM, you sign into any apps that use your Facebook login before you install the Facebook app, that way you log into them with the browser and they never talk to the contacts app. Once you have installed the Facebook app, DO NOT EVER click "Sign in with Facebook" in any app on your phone, or you're screwed again.
That's pretty much what I've come up with thus far. Hope that helps.
EDIT: Here's the link to the thread with the modded Facebook apk: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333637
I have the same issue on all CM12 based roms. It seems to happen for users with many contacts (hundreds). Uninstalling facebook seems to fix the problem for me. I have no such problems on my Nexus 5 with the same setup and facebook installed, so I wonder if it's not something specific to the bacon CM12 code.

Thanks for your partial solution @jkotzker... For me it's a no go because I am a big facebook user and I can install app with Facebook account linked at anytime... It's really really annoying to not log with Facebook account if the Facebook app is installed I don't know what to do... I tried everything like you.
I've recently been getting the same issue but mine says "unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped" everything was fine had this phone for about a month was on a lollipop ROM and that just randomly popped up. At first I thought it was the ROM so I switch to another lollipop ROM and got the same issue. So I went back to the latest ota kk ROM and til now I'm still getting the pop up. What's going on here? Please help

Oh yeah I've been trying to figure this out since cm12 unofficially came out for the note 4. Like all of you said it's fine for a while or sometimes it's messed up right away. I've had it work for two or three days then out of nowhere just have the error pop-up and never go away. Disabling google contacts storage also got rid of the error for me but of course I can't have the phone without google contacts and sync. This last time it happened just by downloading and signing into Dropbox, which isn't related to Facebook at all. This is belong frustrating because nobody seems to have a fix and it's the only thing stopping me from using cm 12. Is there any Dev that can help or work on this with a logcat?

I didn't find one...
I talked about this problem in xda temasek rom thread and ak kernel thread without success. I even sent a message on official cyanogenmod website, with last crash and logcat attached. No success. The problem happened in 2012 too... And since then, Google didn't have a solution for it.
It seems that Google is finally aware about this problem and the correction could arrive in "a future version"... Well. I want it now... Indeed, there seems to be only to increase the buffer transaction between applications and contact storage from 1MB to 2MB for example, to have it corrected. But no dev wants to do it because the problem cannot be reproduced! And it's rare! But we have it! It's incredible to have it back after a full wipe... And happening randomly, just after a random sync between application and Android system...
Any more updates on this issue/ anything else we can do to get this resolved? Even my partial, temporary solutions have stopped working, and I am getting really frustrated.
Glad to see I'm not the only one here with this issue. Took different search terms to eventually land me here since this such an old and somewhat common issue. Nonetheless... Same problem. OnePlus One running Temasek CM12. Disabling contacts storage.... Blah blah blah. Its rather disappointing there's no actual solution instead of a workaround. But, I'm finally happy to know its Facebook. An app I rarely use but do need unfortunately.
Edit: wondering if anyone has had any luck fastboot flashing the factory image? I know it's a pain in the ass to have to back up all your files, etc off the device so I'd like to know if anyone has had success or even tried this. Cuz, I really won't feel satisfied until I've resorted to this last measure if there's the possibility of eradicating the problem.

I initially had this problem when I switched to lollipop, not sure how it fixed itself but I'm guessing it's the contacts sync like you posted here; only the first time I accidentally synced Fb contacts, and due to the massive number of friends on it, it crashed. But you can disable any sort of sync services on Fb and continue using the app for everything else, I've had no issues since.
Do you mean luck with fixing this issue after flashing the factory image or only returning to stock? Because I've had no issues returning to stock from lollipop by flashing the factory images through fastboot.

I meant with flashing the factory image via fastboot to stop the frustratingly obnoxious pop ups of the process stopping (w/o uninstalling FB). You answered my question.
So, get this... Resolved the error by uninstalling Facebook. Today I picked up a Moto 360 and you HAVE to install Motorola Connect to really personalize the device... Once I allowed it to see my Google+ account info the android.process.acore started again. I'm SO annoyed. Gonna try a factory reset again and see if that helps. The only way to stop it is to uninstall Motorola Connect and that really sucks cuz I want to (of course) mess with my watch. I know nothing of Android Wear yet or how to root, etc the 360 so.... Here I go. Boldly. Lol
I'm just curious why I haven't seen more people having this issue. It's been plaguing me now for almost 2 weeks. I'm ready to throw my Bamboo OPO out the effing window. WTF.

It's mostly not because of lollipop, but might be the app itself, I read a few others having this problem on other forums with HTC, the solution they found was to clear data on contacts storage. Give that a try and see if it works, if not I'd suggest going back to Stock or probably the new OxygenOS which is supposed to be out by now. Check out @timmaaa index thread in the general section, it has all the necessary stock images you need. Report back and let us know if it fixed the issue for you

Yea, I tried clearing contacts storage numerous times to no avail. I can live without the app... At first I thought it was a requirement to change watch faces... But, I do have a backup of stock, rooted but I can't go back to KK after being so used to LP. I'm def going to jump on Oxygen just to try it out but I'm guessing I'll end up running stock CM12s. I can't wait. I'd much rather have a stock (w/root of course) or mostly stock device that actually works completely.

Very nice. Glad to hear this... Xposed isn't compatible with 5.1 yet, right?
Two things to try…
Go into settings/apps , press the menu button and select "reset app preferences". Reboot
You Can also try entering the following in your commands:
Su (enter)
Killall rild (enter)
reboot
Should have read the entire post, glad that has been fixed by google, I experienced the same thing and it's a huge pain in the butt.

Neither worked but thanks for the suggestion. I did find a Facebook work around. Found the Lite Version via a Google search (since its technically not available in the US) , installed it and it works fine. No android.process.acore FC's or repeated pop ups.
Update: This problem reared its ugly head again on CM12 and I ended up having to uninstall Twitter this time. So, now I'm on CM12s and as soon as I logged into my other Google account user Boxers email app I got the android.process.acore crash again. Uninstalling that app immediately stopped it. God I can't wait for 12.1 for our OPOs. This problem is absolutely ridiculous. I can't take this anymore. I really can't use ANY social media apps unless its like Tinfoil for FB or Twitter. I don't have any connected accounts except Google & Cyanogen.. Which I truly can live without but... Just for the hell of it.... Knowing I have a backup and I'm about to clean flash the latest stock build I tried to add Waze and it caused the crash all over again. Uninstalling Waze didn't help. I shouldn't have to deal with this. Only way to stop it is to disable contacts storage. Once it begins it doesn't stop. Effing Google with their half baked crap.
I am desperate, I can't find the issue here. I have a S10 (Xfinity unlocked on Verizon) , I can't seem to update apps, they get stuck at 100% or 99%, AND some things like Gmail and Instagram do not seem to notify that I am getting messages.
Here's the kicker, I factory reset the phone some 5 times now, and still have the issue. The Reset fixes it for a few days (if even a day) and then the issue starts up again!
the phone was just upgraded to 10, but it was happening on 9 also!
no clue what the problem is ! it kills me! Please anyone have any idea? I even had an authorized Samsung dealer do a "software refresh" and then wiped out the phone again, and I'm still having the same issue..
HELP! please.
thank you

Boot into safe mode, it will only load your system apps and not your user apps. Then try to update your apps, if it works then you know the issue is being cause one of your user apps. Then you just need to identify which user app is the offending app.
It also might be caused by a conflict between various settings or maybe you have some things disabled or turned off that are causing this.

That kinda works.. but again, as said, I have reloaded the phone over and over, and it works fine, until a few days later and stars over.. And updating is not the only problem, Geolocating is slow, sluggish or not working sometimes, Push updates of emails are slower or not happening. just weird things..
I am not sure what it could be! its like the phone is the problem!

Ok, everything I posted went completely over your head, I'll try again.
If it is working like it is supposed to while in safe mode(which is only loaded with system apps and system settings and not any of your user apps or data) that tells you that the issue is caused by some user app that you have installed or something in your user settings. In other other words, it is very likely something that you, as the user, have installed or setup/selected, it is probably not the device. It keeps happening after resetting because you are not changing what you are doing that it is causing it, it is something that you keep returning to after resetting the device. You just need to figure out which user app is causing the issue or whatever settings are causing the issue.
The way to do that will be trial and error. Uninstall one of the apps that you have installed, then use the device for a few hours, if the issue continues, that wasn't the app causing the issue, reinstall that app then choose another user app to uninstall and then use the device for a few hours, if the issue continues, that is t the app, reinstall that app, and so on and so on, etc... Get the picture? When you uninstall an app and the issue stops, the last app uninstalled is probably the app causing the issue.
I suggest resetting the device again. Then, only install one of your usual apps but don't install any others and don't change any settings, use the device a while, if the issue does not occur, install another one of your usual apps but don't install any others, basically, install one app at a time until the issue occurs, when it does, the last app installed is probably the offending app.
Or, if you don't find it that way and you get all of your usual apps installed without triggering the issue during the trial and error process, then you need to go through settings by trial and error. Changing one setting at a time and using the device a while to see if the issue occurs, if it does, it probably has something to do with the last setting that you changed before the issue occured.
Slowly changing one thing at a time over an extended amount with time between each change, will allow you to isolate exactly which app or setting is causing the issue.
Or maybe you need to flash your stock firmware via PC tools to start over with a clean installation.
