[Completed] XDA assist RAZR XT912 rooted, now what - XDA Assist

I have a RAZR 98.72.16.XT912.verizon
4.1.2
build date FEB 2013
Rooted with RAZR_Blade and installed Titanium backup
I installed rootchecker, I do have root
There is an update waiting, and I don't want it. I have no access to internet except through foxfi, and I afraid I'm going to lose it.
My question is, "What do I do next"?
I want free wifi since I have unlimited data and, to stop updates if possible.
Once I am confident, I have an HTC DNA waiting on an update and I would also like to root it as well.
Hardware 0003
software 3.06.605.4
4.2.2
sense 5.0
Please help

Hi there!
Here's a Complete Root Guide for the DNA.
And you'll need to be more clear about what you are after on your Razr. Free WiFi? Not sure what you mean by that. But THIS thread is for the Maxx, but should be the same to stop the OTA notification.

I have been grandfathered for the unlimited plan at Verizon, I don't want to pay Verizon monthly to use the "hotspot"(I guess this is the mistake I made).
The HTC looks like a very old thread, does it still apply for me?

Root methods don't usually change. You can always look around the section that threads in to see if there's anything newer. Also....anytime you're in a thread that's older...check last page and read back for more current posts.
Also it depends on what version of android you're on. If its old versions, older threads would still apply.
Again, look through the section that thread is in....never know what you'll find!
And I still don't know what free WiFi is. WiFi is WiFi.

If that root thread doesn't help, you can always ask for assistance in the DNA Q&A section....here....

I totally misspoke using the term wifi. What I meant to say is, I use Foxfi as my wireless hotspot at my house, it is the only thing available where
I live aside from getting a dish. That being said, I need a phone that I can continue to access the web with a hotspot without having to pay
Verizon $20 a month. I am very intrigued with all the possible ROM's available, but I'm lost in the safestrap, CWMOD, TWRP, nandroid back-up.
I do appreciate your patience.

No problem!
Just make a friendly thread in the section I linked above and ask a few questions. The members there know your device better than any....I'm sure you'll find answers! ?

[Q] No Sim Card message with cm10

Sorry in advance if this is off-topic, but I'm not allowed to post in the official cm10 thread yet (not enough psots) so I'm hoping someone might see it here.
After flashing the 9/23 nightly of cm10, my phone doesn't recognize my sim card or let me save a new APN.
I'm in US on AT&T on the HTC One X, and now I can't connect to any cell networks because it says no sim card found. I also was not able to save any APN settings to remedy this (I'd fill it all out, hit save, and then the list would still be empty). If I select AT&T in Available Networks it tries to register for a while and then gives up. Save with resetting the APN settings to default.
I flashed the 9/19 nightly to try to fix it, but it still won't connect to any networks or let me save any APNs. Right now I can't make any phone calls or texts, so I'd greatly appreciate it if someone has any suggestions to fix this issue. Thanks in advance!
furtively bumping in the hopes someone may help me so I can make an important long-distance call I needed to make today :-\
I know I know, shouldn't have flashed if I needed reliability, it's a weakness of mine.

Haven't tried going back to stock yet, too much of a hassle (I can make this call tomorrow from a landline). There's gotta be a way to fix this. I thought if I walked in to at&t with a cm10 phone they'd refuse to help since it's rooted and everything? Plus I don't think it's a hardware problem if it just happened from flashing the latest nightly, unless the SIM card can be overwritten by a flash?
Anyway, thanks for the response. Would it be bad etiquette for me to repost this in Q&A now? I suppose I'll just go ahead and do so, and delete if someone complains.

I'd try flashing to stock and well since its already here keep it....but hmm idk. If an att sales Rep would not do it...I mean I don't know why some att employee would care if you're rooted

Who wants to run AT&T Bounty Bootloader unlock thread

Who wants to run the bounty for AT&T? I have created a template that I based off the Galaxy S5 Bounty. It took me over an hour to create, with all the forum codes, and formatting, so that it will take you less than 5 minutes to create the post for AT&T. I am running it for verizon and I know AT&T also has a locked bootloader, so if someone wants to volunteer, I've attached a .TXT file attachment so you can copy and paste into a thread, and edit it to fit AT&T.
We are already up over $400 on the Verizon side, and AT&T version will benefit from this, so someone needs to step up ASAP. I will track the pledges from AT&T in the verizon thread as well, but I think a fellow LG G3 owner, from AT&T should take lead running the thread over here. So please, someone step up, so I don't have to run both threads.
I'm up for it. Never done it before, idk if experience is required. But I'd be more than happy to do it. Really loving this phone and really want to see its full potential to be met.

[Q&A] [ROM][CM012][UNOFFICIAL][falcon_cdma][xt1028/xt1031]

Q&A for [ROM][CM012][UNOFFICIAL][falcon_cdma][xt1028/xt1031]
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM][CM012][UNOFFICIAL][falcon_cdma][xt1028/xt1031]. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

Not sure... There is nothing WiFi specific in this build, just plain CM. Maybe reboot, reinstall, etc.
Also, I do not plan on regularly monitoring this Q&A thread that XDA automatically creates...please stick to the main thread
ok, im going to download from the mega link and, not flash the donkey kernel to see if that works
Running the rom on Boost, and so far so good everything is working as it should be. Well with the exception of the data, however i'm generally always around wifi so not a deal breaker. However running it full time if anyone needs any logs or anything would be willing to help.

Thanks. This thread is the Q&A that is automatically made by XDA... Head over to the main thread and I am sure we can use a hand with some logs in the near future!

If you can, definitely head to the main thread. We are definitely in need of some logs right now though. Anything you can get for us would be greatly appreciated. Looks like we have several people including @mightysween and @crouse digging deep into this to try and get data fixed for all of us unlucky (or perhaps lucky, in a twisted way?) CDMA device owners.
In other words... I want my candy.
I still haven't breached the 10 post threshold to post in the main thread otherwise would be helping more.

Installed newest build and nothing is there, no calls, sms, data. nothing. no registered IP address heck not even returning me a phone number.
Downloading latest build will try to help anyway i can.

ok so anyway latest build i have the option to choose cdma subscription
All issues still stem from Sim dependencies. Got some things in mind to try, and I don't see us giving up on it. At least, I don't plan on it. One more post it seems and you'll be on main thread.

Would it work better as a kernel mod or a radio mod to flash it for other ROMs besides CM12?
Sent from my XT1031
I'm new to android coding, but were not touching the kernel or the radio. These are changes made directly to the OS. These changes, if we ever got them working, would most likely have to be a compile-time change.
From now on to keep the thread clean, I'm just going to ask: can this work with multirom?

I just wanted to say that I have been following the development, and I am heartened by your efforts. Keep up the good work!

Need help with proper place to post...

I want to buy an Android phone for my Sprint account that I can use as a dedicated wifi hotspot. I want a Spark-enabled phone, like an LG G2 or G3, but one that is easily rooted and easily modded to have unlimited wifi hotspot. Need suggestions on models. Where could I post this question? Thanks.

Well I´m not from the USA, but I can share you a few links where you could ask.
Also I have to say I´ve never heard about the possibility to have unlimited wifi hotspot. Your Wifi Hotspot limit depends of how much monthly data you have, as soon as you finish all your data you will get slower connection or not connection at all, but never ever unlimited and free.
If general: HERE
Also general: HERE
Another one: HERE
And the last one: HERE
I do have unlimited data.

Idk if you are the guy who created the thread but if you are or he also have unlimited data:
See all the thread links I shown before.
After you think which one should be the correct one to ask, give me the link and I will move the thread.
I am giving you the chance to choose any of the 4 links

[Q] Is a new root method being worked on?

I've only had my S6 for a couple weeks so mine was already updated to the latest OTA version by the time I got it, and so I can't use pingpong. I don't mean to be redundant and post this question if it has already been asked but I can't find any other info at the moment in this forum, but does anybody know if anything is in the works for the current version that it would be worth holding off on the upcoming 5.1 OTA? Or is the root that you first wave guys got to use probably a one-time thing for this phone? Coming from an HTC one where I was able to unlock my bootloader I am starting to miss having root...
If a new Root is available, you will SEE it all over the forums... no need to ask.

Yeah don't bother reading the question before posting a dumb pretentious answer to it. I asked if one was being WORKED ON that was worth holding off on the OTA for, not if one was available now.
I agree.. Lots of jerks in these forums.. I check regularly to see if a root method is available BUT ALSO to see the progress if any.. Simple yes or no or say nothing .. No need to be an ass.

I'm not sure if a root method is being worked on for the current update but I can tell you that the exploit for pingpong has been patched so that is a one time thing. I think our best bet for the next method will be when 5.1 comes out.

No, everyone has given up all hope and quit.
Seriously, what kind of answer to you think you would get?
The people working on it are rarely going to talk about it until they actually have a solution unless they are working with other developers trying out possible solutions. None of it is going to be public until they have a solution to prevent the MFG or vendors from plugging up a new hole they found before they can use it.
Asking if it is being worked on is just plain dumb. This is the same cycle of every new device that has ever been released with the same questions asked all over again.
What really is the point in asking? IF and when it becomes available it will be big news splashed all over the forums not just here but other places.
Constant asking about it is actually a violation of the forum.

Asking once like I did isn't against any forum rules, trolling everything thread you participate in like you do is: it doesn't take a hard look through your posts to see that. I'm surprised your mommy and daddy let you talk like this on the internet. You don't actually contribute any knowledge or development to this site, you just act like a moron to make yourself feel better about how fat and useless you are. Stop even posting in my thread you scum
