Well I've rerooted my phone again and when I was going to do a nandroid backup I found I was nearly out of space. On the storage information on the phone I found out that the Cached Data was 3.19 Gb
I think it's too much, so I was wondering about clear it, but I'm afraid this could be bad for the phone...
Any suggestions??
Cached data has no impact except allowing apps to access that data quicker. You can safely Clear cache without losing anything

I suposed it wasn't unsafe but I asked just to make sure

So lately my phone has been really laggy and it was really random. A soft reset doesn't do anything and it continues to be slow. It's so laggy that when someone calls, it ends up freezing up on me that I can't answer the phone on time. I noticed that when I use Oxios CloseApps/Hibernate to free up some memory, it successfully does it making my used ram to about 85%, but all of a sudden it moves up to 95% in a matter of 5 seconds.
I forgot which ROM I'm due to it being a long time, but I know that it does have WizFlo on it and that's pretty much all I know about it haha.
This is generally a problem caused by low space on the internal storage. I find deleting sms's and installing software to SD rather than internal storage helps alot with this. I have noticed that the sweet spot for the wizard is to have at least 20mb free space on internal storage. Backup what you need using Pim Backup and then do a hard reset. Install your fav softwares to storage and off you go. Hope this helps
yep that's a pefect answer ...

Thanks so much, this has definitely helped. And I just realized that it was your ROM that I was using haha
Hi,
Few days back, my phone started randomly rebooting and it got stuck on boot. When I checked logcat, I got some fatal error in java. I tried fix_permissions and all but nothing seemed to work, so I just restored a recent Nandroid backup. However, in attempts to fix the issue, I must rebooted around 50-60 times. So, anyway, the problem was fixed. This was 3 days back.
Today I check the photos, and I see only 30-40 photos are remaining of around 500-600 photos which I had. I've done a thorough search on my phone but they haven't been moved anywhere else. AFAIK, if there is a data loss, it should take down everything not just selective items, no?
Is there any solution to this problem? I don't want to have all those 1 year's worth of photos gone.
Can I use 'dd' to make an image and mount it as ext and run ext data recovery tools? Or is there anything else I can do? Would really appreciate some help here.
Thanks
Also, what is the partition mounted as in Nexus S, ext or fat?
FAT32, so it retains compatibility with all OS.
And no, you're not right. If there is data loss, it doesn't necessarily mean you will lose everything at once. The memory can be partially corrupted either by a physical problem with the chip(s) itself or the connections or by a software problem.
I'm just curious how to delete ALL of the information that I've added to the phone. I've installed/changed/updated/removed mods and applications for over a year now and it's a bloody mess! I don't know what I can and cannot delete manually so I'm hoping that there is a nice and easy method for resetting the phone back to the way it came.
I've tried factory reset, but all of my data is still there.
Thanks!
Seriously?
I keep getting an error this has stopped. Any ideas?
Did you try clearing it's data? Manage applications -> All -> select the media process and force stop it then clear data. Hopefully with a fresh start on collecting data it will stop crashing.

Odd. That's all it took for me to get it to behave. Force stop then clear cache and data. I restarted and used my tablet for about 4 hours last night and never had the error.

Interesting as I've been using zep's script for months and immediately added it when I first got my tablet. I didn't need to bulletproof anything just the force stop and clear data. But I did use the OOM groupings and minfrees it calculates. For those not using the script give it some consideration. It does wonders on lower end phone which are lacking memory but still makes a noticeable difference, to me at least, on current higher end devices like the Transformer or my HTC flyer.

thanks,
Also i just now rebooted my tf to find the micro sd card is not being read by the tf, it shows in the notifications and has all the music files etc still on it but is not recongnized by any apps.
Is this connected to the media process fail issue?
any idea how to fix.
Update:
I tried reformating the sd card putting some music and photos back on it.
Force stopping media from app list than wiped data from media, rebooted with new formated sd card but still shows sd card in the notifications and can access it from the sd card menu in notifications-seeing all the files on it, but none of the apps recongnize it- can go into any music app but does not see music on the card.
Any suggestions to try
I had this problem for 2 weeks, and then after upgrading to ICS, it persisted. So I did a reset to factory defaults, and that fixed it.
I'm sure there's a way to fix it without taking the reset sledgehammer to it, but I figured now was a good time, since I had just got ICS running, and other folks said a factory reset seemed to help fix other problems and make things faster. Plus I had tons of apps installed, many of which i didn't need, and uninstalling them would take time.
Just backup all your stuff! I ended up backing up files, and then rooting so I coudl backup apps and app data with titanium backup.
I'm running [GT-P31XX][JB][4.2.2] CyanogenMod 10.1, just fyi
So all of a sudden I can't install any more apps... it keeps saying internal storage full.
I've even uninstalled all the "extra's" I've been running.. I went from like 150 or more apps installed down to (what I consider) hardly any and it just keeps saying it.
It's not talking about the internal SD card is it? I have almost a gig or room on that.
I'm at a loss here.
Any apps to clear my memory or something? I've used Allininetool, doesn't help, SDMaid, doesn't help... a couple other that I can't remember the names of, they didn't help either.
bleh!
Thanks i advance for any help.

same issue is there in my aunts tab 2..on doing a factory reset..all is fine, but after a month only having a bunch apps (consuming max 1gb space), it shows that there is no space! (but doing a factory reset again solves the problem)
planning to take it to the service center!

I reflashed the rom and cleared cache and dalvik. seems to be ok now but thats curious as to why it happens.
Can't tell you why this happens and After trying to install some large games and apps i ran in to this. I didn't know that you could only install to the internal SD otherwise i would have got the 16GB version.
After a lot of searching i came across this in the general section, it (so far) has worked like a dream for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961097
[EDIT] This only works on 4.1.x versions.
Actually there is no need to reflash ROMs or even factory reset. I have read about such problems and they are usually related to cache. I do not know the exact name or type of cache which cause the problem, but I recall 2 solutions:
1) Install either Quick System Info Pro or ES Task Manager. Use the 'Clear cache' function inside these apps then restart device.
2) If you do not like to install these apps, then you can boot into Recovery mode & select "Clear cache' from the recovery menu.
I have read these solutions on several forums, including here at XDA Developers. I am not certain if they will work as I myself have not encountered such problems. Maybe if anyone does & needs help, do feel free to try these solutions?
