There is a high likelihood that a custom rom not made for your phone will not work, there are a lot of factors software is designed for hardware.
A lot of things can go wrong and a lot of things will not work. I'd suggest just finding a rom made for your phone or finding some one who can help you properly port a rom for your phone

pretty much what Tangodown78 said but DO NOT Flash other phones roms onto your device it will Brick them and make it unrecoverable.

Hi guys,
I am a noob to android modding and rooting. I have bought a MMX A87 recently i would like to install a custom ROM on the phone as the stock ROM takes up too much memory. However, I have no clue about any of the procedures that have to be done to install the ROM. I have read that one needs to first root the phone. I have also heard something About Clockworkmod but dont know what to do with it. Please guide me through the procedures of rooting, CWM and installing custom ROM

Only Celkon A27 ROMs will be install-able on Celkon A27 phone. Don't try installing ROMs meant for other phones as it has a potential risk of bricking (damaging) your device.
y cant it be possible to upgrade it?

i myself tried by cooking rom in android kitchen where it showed status 0 error in cwm i tried to flass a225(jb) system image where phone is not starting and tried to dump whole jb rom of celkon a225 in dis case logo and boot animations are cuming inverted and later phone doesnt seem to respond...y is dis happening to celkon a27????????

Just search through Chef Central section and xda-university. There are countless tutorials on how to create custom ROMs.
use android kitchen and cygwin to create a custom rom dude
dude actually u can create ur own custom rom by using android kitchen and then try it on ur device using custom recovery like TWRP or cwm recovery ....its very simple to create a rom but to make it work on ur device is a somewhat toughest task...so watching this tutorials u can also build a rom. the first most important thing to build a ROM is ur patience and ur time
i tried twice to port celkon a225(jb) rom to celkon a27 but i failed after as i was busy i dint try ....u try it man and u may succed i wish u all da best and try ur luck with ur work....
