Battery Life Repair - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Themes and Apps

So this app claims that it checks out your battery and fixes sections not working.
I tried this on my Note 3 with great results. It would barely last my 9 hour work day if I did not plug in. I would get home and have to immediatly plug in upon arival at home.
I downloaded and ran this app, finding several bad sectors. Since then I am able to run all day, ariving home with 60% left!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.BoshBashStudios.batterydoctorrepair

Installed it on both my note 8 and my S4, the note had a few errors and the S4 had one error, fixed them and lets see if i got any better on the note
Thanks for the tip!

I'm going to try it out. It found 14 errors or my note haven't loaded to my s4 yet

I'll believe it works when I can read the app's source code for myself. Oh wait, it's code is not available.

So - Has anybody had any actualy improvements?
They supply no real info about how it works, and the graph makes no real sense.
It could somehow help calibrate your battery voltage/capacity information, but I don't see how it could have any real change on the battery chemistry.

Bad sectors? Really.

I've downloaded the app and run it found bad and inactive sectors , fixed them , and I will post tomorrow my results if the app really work or not
but what we really need in my point of view is some mod or app that play with the screen in order to reduce it's consumption from the battery ... on my phablet 90% goes to the battery alone and that really sucks

Finally Works??

yes it really worked but after 3 or 4 days , it returns to it's old fast consumption ...
I hope that some dev really take this device on their shoulders to give a specific mod

Snapdragon Battery Guru

Hi All,
This is an app that i just found that apparently is extremely useful for the I9505 variant containing the Snapdragon processor.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiam.snapdragon.app#_blank
"Snapdragon™ BatteryGuru is a battery life saver app that extends battery performance and improves overall user experience by intelligently making changes that optimize device functionality in phones with Snapdragon mobile processors."
I have just installed it to see how it goes over the next few days.
Just thought i should share it with everyone.
Cheers
It will be very interesting to see how this turns out

mine says 4 days of learning left....
will be interesting to see what it learns and how well it effectively puts that learning into practice to help battery life.
didn't really make much any difference for me so deleted it... not to say it won't work for you though

Verdict still out for me as well. 1 day left of learning.

Yeah of course (the app has been out for quite a while so it's not new). But as I said may be different for different users (those who sync a lot etc).

I used this app for Nexus 4 when it was launched, after it learnt it mostly disabled my Gmail/Whatsapp/Tango and whenever I used to open those APPs then only I could get notifications. This is even when, I have disabled that do not enable this feature on this & this app. Strangely I had to uninstall the app so that I can receive notifications

Its mostly useless because of this.
I used it on my previous phone as well, Motorola RAZR HD. There were options to enable data for those apps (I don't use Tango though), and I did.
In the end all it was essentially doing is managing my WiFi, and it made poor choices about that, disconnecting me when I was at home and using WiFi. It made sense to the app; WiFi took more power, but it wasn't the way I wanted to use it.
In the end, it didn't do anything but screw up my experience. I could achieve what it had "learned" and tailored it to my needs using Tasker but doing that doesn't even make a significant difference when I'd set it up for a better power saving experience so those profiles inevitably got deleted.
I should add that the RAZR HD is built to be sort of similar to vanilla Android, and that I trust Samsung a lot more when it comes to trying to optimise power consumption in its ROM without any add ons running, and that's quite a statement considering that the RAZR HD has incredible battery life.
I've had this app staring at me in Titanium Backup, uninstalled, since I got the phone and the urge to try it out comes and goes, but overall I can't really conceive that its a good idea to do so. There's no magical things that it does which can't be accomplished using other tools and most of those tools aren't really worth it despite doing a better job for the reason of the user having more control over what conditions need to be met for the functions to take place. The days of Android needing help with power management through third party apps are for the most part in the past and only exist on pretty old phones.
Battery Guru is in use more then anything else during Learning process when I check in Greenify. Based on what I see hopefully it is used less after Learning.
Also is it worth using this with Greenify?

what a stupid program if that is the case (saw your image below this post)
Latest after finishing the Learning period. Seems to still show up in greenify to be waking up the phone more then anything else I've ever seen before.
To me it looks like a resource and battery hog.
Anyone else have an opinion based on the picture I'm attaching or there experience with it?

Yep. And I guess if the functions of this app were so great how it tells you in the description, it would be in the source code of the qualcomm's kernel itself. Maybe it can save some battery but only for those millions of unexperienced users arround the world, who doesn't even know, what android really is.
I would stick with greenify and that's enough. Everything else is the job for the kernel.

Overall it just does more harm then good. My Live Wallpaper seemed slugish. Scrolling became sluggish on homescreen and drawer. Over 1000 Wake ups and counting with it. NO THANK YOU.

Does this app really help?
I let it run the whole learning period and just ended a few hours ago...
So it started saving battery... The phone was idle the whole time.
You see a huge decline in battery? Thats when the App BatteryGuru started to "save battery", how ironic.
"Google Services" seems to be the cause in here..
When checking Wake Lock Detector,
BatteryGuru is the most wake lock...
Question is, Shall I continue using it?
i started using this app with the adam kernel and ive noticed that my battery life has increased from 12 hours of use to 18/19 hours of use
im a pretty avid phone user. mainly music, web browsing, phone calling, text, games, and seldomly maps (in order of importance to my personal life
with the stock kernel i saw no difference

How is your N5 Battery Life ?

how is your N5 battery life discussion ? when you turn on everything such as bluetooh on , NFC on, sync on, gps on, and brightness set to either 100% or to auto, I wonder how long is your nexus can get through since you fully charged the phone itself from 5-6am in the morning . can it last till evening 10pm if the whole day you use it for texting , facebook, instagram, chrome with 5 tabs minimum , youtube, mail, reading news, recording video and take a snap from the camera .
a humble experience from all of you will be highly appreciate guys.
p.s = the reason why I making this thread is to compare with how good the battery with moto x.

I should be more specific, I'm talking about ordinary people. The people taking pictures using N5 and comparing it to the iPhone 5S are media outlets who have had prior access to the device (or early access from Google).
And honestly if they DO have the phone then they cannot comment on the battery life because it'll take at least 3-5 days (given a week) for the battery to settle in. Not to mention, you won't be doing your daily things on the phone as you'll be busy setting it up with the apps you've used in the past/transferring data/etc.

Nothing a little Titanium backup can't solve. By the looks of the other threads in the forum some people have had the device for a while... As early as the beginning of October. No point in shooting down someone's thread just because you have nothing to contribute to it.

OT: I know this isn't the right place but...How is the back of the white N5? It get dirty fast? Could it turn yellow as someone said? :s
IT: It should take a week for the battery to stabilize, so the first real impression could come just in some days

Its lovely but so is the black I got both here but prefer the white.
The OS is the biggest change, a lot has changed in kitkat. Different ways to access different things and the app menu is completely different. Battery life I got near 3h 58 with 10 percent left from 82 percent and that's from restoring all my apps and more so I'm kinder hoping we'll reach 5h or a little more. Screen is beautiful but speaker isn't great. Though I'm comparing the speaker to a 5S which is pretty good.

I have nothing to contribute? ...... you can't tell the battery life with having the device for less than a week.
This thread is just as pointless as the threads asking for the best ROM/Kernel or threads asking when TMobile will have N5?
I'm not shooting anyones thread but its just a silly question to ask when the phone was released just a little over 24 hours when only <1% of orders requested has been fulfilled. The only ones with the phones right now are media outlets or the individuals who ordered immediately and live in a close proximity to the point that they can have next-day shipping pretty much.

I would say yes, who knows what your screen brightness was at even though I am sure it was probably at auto. Talking on the phone can drain a lot of battery.
Why note 3 to nexus 5, seems odd?
Well you did talk on the phone for a while. But Google Search is draining the battery more than it should. I would just reboot and do another full charge. Google Search was draining my Nexus 7 the other day and the reboot/recharge seemed to have fixed it. For now anyway. Android OS/Google Search seems to be a recurring bug. Unless of course you were using google now a lot, in which case it would probably be normal.

I had the note 3 I just wasn't a big fan of the build quality and the Samsung over lay of it. I always loved the nexus 4 and when I used the neuxs 5 in person I fell in love with the design and how smooth it was. But the battery is starting to worry me. I'm on cataclysm rom with Franco kernel r22. I have WiFi on with the phone using 3g only. I barely use Google search. The phone calls werent that long either. I just feel like the battery is being drained way to fast for no reason. I keep most apps closed after I'm done using then. I had greenify on and I have the kernel set to 1.7ghz. I just don't know what to do with anymore.

S- bean, smart stay, air gestures, etc are useless in my opinion. They're only functions for showing your friends how many things your phone does and then turn them off and never use them again
Great battery life and performance, great s-pen functions like action note, drawings and S- Note, those are real functions of the Note 3

Me too, they've been off since I got the handset. I'd CM11 this thing if it was 100% stable. I keep TouchWiz for the s-pen - but I find I rarely/never use it.
Best advice here:
Remove the battery after a couple of hours use wait 3 days with battery removed.
Repeat.
This way it could last an entire month

Samsungs poor app optimization!

After about a year of changing settings, factory resetting this device, clearing cache.... I started to do my own research and doing my own tinkering with the device. I found that samsungs app optimization disables features in apps in order to consume battery consumption, but the truth is, it actually does the exact thing that makes your phone slow down or be sluggish when opening and closing/ restarting apps. I've been an android fan boy for quite some time and we all learn to realise that these are high powered devices that are being somewhat crippled by the makers "Samsung" being the worst.... but to make a long story short disable all app optimization and you'll see how wonderful this device is in its natural state...

Go to your settings, click on battery, at the top right theres a more button click on it. It will say app optimization etc... once in it will show only ones that's disabled just click on the tab to show all

I did outdoor, and it is a bit more snappy indeed.. Not a massive amount, but more.. I am just waiting too see how it impacts my battery life. But great catch!

My phone took too much of a hit in the battery department so I reverted back.

I have recently downloaded Package Disabler Pro and have disabled a lot of stuff I dont use. Day 1 seems to be noticeably less battery drain. Good start. Thread below has some details on stuff safe to disable. I have also turned app optimization off on some of my most used apps to see if there is any effect.
