[Q] Shield compatible gamepads, keyboards and mouse? - Shield Q&A

Hi,
I have been lurking around the interwebz to find a cheap compatible shield gamepad which works over bluetooth. So far i came across Nyko Playpad pro and Moga Pro. The main issue here is that none of the above is available in my country. So far the gamepads i have tried are below;
PS3 Sixaxis (USB, Bluetooth with Sixaxis app)
Works fine over USB, however while using over bluetooth, the dpad doesn't function. If anyone has a solution to this, this will be the best option.
Xbox 360 Controller (USB)
Works fine as it should.
Does the wireless controller works fine with receiver connected to shield with OTG cable? I read somewhere that is also causes the same type of DPAD symptoms.
Does regular wireless keyboard/mouse combos which comes with thr own usb wireless adapter will work with the shield or do i need to buy a bluetooth only device?
Does the Plugable USB to ethernet adapter is a must for full hd streaming? If yes, does every game streams in FHD or just the supported ones? Or it is just upscaled 720p? I installed Bioshock Infinite to test over wifi (Dual Band N600) and i noticed improvements in detailing of the game and graphics if i set the game resolution from 720p to 1080p? Is thr anyway to stream FHD over wifi ?

Of all your questions, I can only confirm that wireless Keyboard/Mouse works. I'm using a logitech combo that uses those small usb receivers. The Nyko playpad pro 2 is fully compatible according to Nvidia. Don't know about the others, i've read from others that Moga and Madcatz work. I use my Dalshock 3 with sixaxis app, but i didn't try the d-pad. i'll try it out and report back if it works for me.

The DPAD is like mirroring the left analog stick. Please test the issue with native games and gamestream also and thanks for reporting the functionality of keyboard/mouse combo.

No problem. and sorry for not responding sooner, didn't saw the notification e-mail. Anyways, i tested my Dualshock 3 and yes my D-pad works well but only plugged in, while over bluetooth it seems to mirror the left stick.

[Q] Razer Onza compatibility

So I know that XBox360 and PS3 wired controllers are compatible (mostly) with Transformer. Problem is, I can't find a wired XBox controller on sale anywhere in my city and I don't really like PS3 one. Since Onza is XBox compatible does anyone know if it will be compatible with Transformer in the same games as vanilla XBox one?
It doesn't work, I just bought one
in my experience controllers with nonstandard layouts or extra buttons do not work such as the onza or the Logitech F310 if they are in PC mode (direct input) but they will work if the extra buttons are disabled in xbox mode

[Q] Can I connect a Bluetooth controller as a second controller on Shield??

Here's the thing, I can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere on the web. I'd like to be able to play two player games using the Nvidia Shield as controller one and my Bluetooth controller as player two. Currently I'm using the Nyko Playpad Pro and I'm running Mame4droid 1.6. I went through all the setups in the emulator settings, But when connected both the Shield and the Bluetooth controller are recognized as player one and are mirrored. I can't seem to force the Playpad controller into the #2 position on the top, and i'm also trying to avoid buying a second controller as the one on the Shield works much better than the Playpad. I'm only using the Playpad for player two. Anyone know if there's a work around or fix for this?

The NP works with Bravia sync and the Sony tv remote. You can navigate with the arrows, play, pause etc. I figured this out by accident.

Xbox 360 Wireless controller: works with the official wireless PC adapter. I've tested 4 controllers. Button mappings aren't the same as Bluetooth HID. R/L bumpers act as the R/L triggers. R/L triggers act as the X/Y axis of the right analog stick (mouse simulation). Other discrepancies.
Nexus Player Gamepad - Not perfect either. Uses standard Bluetooh HID mappings, but lacks a proper start/select button. Does not work properly with Soul Calibur.

Nyko Playpad Pro works perfectly, got 2 of them for $12 at gamestop:
http://www.gamestop.com/android/accessories/nyko-play-pad-pro-tablet-controller/104098
Another Controller...
Two things to add to the list of things that work....
* The Gamestop Red Samurai. It is listed on their site as "Tablet Wireless Game Controller V2", here: http://www.gamestop.com/android/accessories/tablet-wireless-game-controller-v2/104425 I like it because it is $12 and has a rechargeable battery. I have a pair of these. I have only had issues in one game, but I have not tried too many of the games with this controller. Warning, when I went into the store, the two employees there had no idea what I was talking about, I brought up the web page, showed them the product and that they had it. I have been to two game stops that had it, and it is always in the back room, very odd...
For Remote:
* Logitech Harmony Smart Control. This is the fairly current one, it has a little black WiFi enabled emitter and a simple remote. I was able to get it to talk with my Nexus Player and I can do everything that I can do on the regular remote. Works great.

I believe the high-end Harmony (ultimate?) can also connect via bluetooth and registers as a bluetooth keyboard, which is pretty sweet.

harmony smart and harmony ultimate
both use the exact same hub
just different remote
all communication is done at the hub
the smart is working for me (with a workarround tutorial posted in the harmony forum)
(basically you add a windows pc and tell it you have a bluetooth keyboard, then map the keys in the activity)

I had to clear it's state. Power it on. Then press and hold the select button for 3 seconds. Then after that click the NES30 option on the nexus player to pair the device. It should work after that.
Ok I tried that last night and it would pair but then unpair a minute or 2 later. It would work and then I could load up a rom. However, 1 minute into the game it would unpair. It is a brand new controller.

I haven't noticed it disconnecting. I'll use it for a longer period and let you know my results.

I'm having a couple of issues with the button mapping. My play/pause aren't fulling working. How did you set this up? Did you pick Windows PC or what bluetooth device did you assign the controller for?
Thanks

yes thats correct
you can also map all the buttons in the harmony app
i have stop ff rw and a bunch more working
only one i cant seem to map is the letter (C)
as you need that in xbmc for contect menu to schedule a recording or delete one
OUYA Controller
went out and bought an ouya controller based on this thread
the description of it working with some games as exceptions is a bit misleading
its very flaky, disconnects frequently, sends incorrect button presses randomly, and just stops sending commands out of no where. as an example the trigger is used for gas in a car game, every 5-10 seconds you need to release and pull again or the car stopps as the trigger acts like its not connected.
now before you blame the ouya controller or the batteries
i have connected it to my nexus 72013, my nexus 5, my nexus 7 and my nexus 4
it works perfectly on all of them
and the nexus 5 and nexus 7 2013 are on lolipop 5.0
so the issue is with the nexus player rom
my nexus player itsself is not defective
all other bt devices (remote, keyboard, mouse) work fine without disconnect
to anyone thinking of buying an ouya controller based on this thread
dont waste your money
just wait for the asus controller to arrive
(too bad they dont sell them in stores, i hate online orders always 2-3 weeks to arrive)
Also the "measy rc11 air mouse" works very well (I have one that I used on a mini PC mk808)

[Q] Xbox 360 Wired Controller

Has anyone tried to use the wired xbox controller with the note 4?
I plug my controller and noting happens, the only way i got it to be recognized is using de USB/Bt Joy Controll Center, but i dont want to use my controller as a emulated one on apps like asphalt 8 wich supports natively this controller.
Does anyone have any idea about what might be happening?
Still not working on lollipop =(
Anyone on this? Note 4 is not detection wired Xbox360 controller. Any solution?
I use the PS4 controller with my note 4 on LP. Works great with Dreadhalls for Gear VR.

USB controller.

Hello, fellow Z3 users. I have to ask if anyone knows why my Z3 doesn't detect USB controller? I've connected it via the adapter, the controller just lights up, but doesn't work anywhere. Doesn't it really support standart USB controllers?
The controller is an ACME one, with analog sticks and macro buttons in the middle.
Model ACME GA-03
Does it really require those Dualshock controllers, to play any game with the controller?
It could be really harsh, if it was like that. I remmember playing Digimon world 3 on ps1 emulator, on a Galaxy s2, and it had no problems at all detecting USB controller.
Or maybe the fault is in the controller?
Looking forward to recieve an answer.
