I have a dual sim 16gb moto g bought 2 months ago. It is running kit Kat. I have not rooted my phone. Last week I bought an otg cable for connecting my pen drive to moto g. But whenever I connect it, phone is showing ' Damaged USB storage'
And in the notification area 'USB storage is damaged. Try formatting it'
When I try to format from moto g, phone will restart and nothing happens..
I have tried with 2 pen drives but same result. Both were in fat 32 and were working perfectly on pc..

my moto g worked fine when I used the otg cable and hooked it up with a pendrive .but latr after about 2 hrs it just didn't recognise the otg cable wen I tried re putting the otg in it switched off .I went through many blogs and fourms and found no solution and I also tried changing filemanagers otg troubleshooters and also nexus file importer
any solution to fix this problem???
Ok this happened with me too.. changing the otg cable did the trick for me.. there is a callmate otg cable available on flipkart. Works great with moto g

Moto G 1st gen 4.4.4 UK stock unrooted
Won't see cheapo tiny (so v useful!) Otg card reader plus Kingston class 10 sd card when my Asus Tablet 4.2 and wife's 2nd gen 4.4.4 Moto G WILL see it. My Moto WILL see that card via otg cable and other card reader so I can read/write with that but it's bulky to cart about. Tried restarting phone with reader plugged in but phone refuses to start up until I remove reader. Reboot the same. Turned on usb debugging with no difference. Not sure what that was supposed to do? Got an 8mb debug report! Yards of incomprehensible stuff...
Any ideas? Could be very simple!
Based on similar threads it would seem I'm not alone.
I've tried a Transcend USB 3 SD card reader; although 3.0, it works flawlessly on LG G Pad running KK so not a power draw issue; I've tried an OLD 512MB USB thumb drive to be sure, same; I've tried two different OTG cables (admittedly same cord brand purchased together, but again flawless on gPad).
Mount --> Unmount.
Do many of us just have OTG dud Idol 3s? It's always been this way. Wonder if Alcatel would give me a RMA, seems unlikely. :/
I dont know if it's my cable or moto g usb port that is defective (maybe driver) but i can't get it to conect stable with computer...
every 5 seconds or so it disconects (I can open phone folders sometimes, but nof for a long time).
I've tested it with my cable and my friends motorola cable(one samsung cable was very loose on moto g), also 3 different laptops...windows dont stop making that disconected device sound
Cable worked ok for flashing a samsung phone with odin, also is ok for chaging moto g on motorola charger, but not from computer usb ports
any help?
All these years you still can't add a safely eject USB from settings, storage? It been years this is kind of crazy every other ROM/Phone has it. Even stock has it. CM12.1 Droid mini.
