[4.4.4][ktu84p]STOCK Rooted with busybox for tilapia[6/19/14] - Nexus 7 3G Android Development

It is cooked from the Google stock image for tilpia and is NOT deodexed
This is the first time i am posting a ROM on XDA.
Been cooking ROM's for a while for my old Samsung devices.
The whole reason for this thread is to have a flashable zip for any Nexus 7(2012) 3g user who wishes to stay stock.
I have tested it on my Nexus 7, if anyone has any issues do let me and please bear with me as im not a developer and just sharing what i personally use.
Will try and help with what ever i can.
************** For some Reason the boot logo does not show up, dont worry, wait for sometime, the ROM will boot up***********
Note:
1. Works with multirom.
2. Odexed for my personal use, if anyone wishes to de-odex it, do let me know.
3. This includes the stock kernel. I also tested the latest stable mkernel which is for 4.4.2 and works fine.(works with the new kitkat 4.4.4 too)

Update your bootloader and radio first. And clean flash is recommended though there are not much of changes from 4.4.2 but as you mentioned you are using 4.4 clean wipe and installing is preferred.

thank you very much! stock rocks! :good::good:
PS: root & bbox?

Thanks alot
Hi!
First of all - thanks for your clean/xposed ROM.
I only have one question. Would it still be possible to send SMS from my Tilapia-tablet (Nexus 7-2012/3G) after flashing your ROM?
BTW : @RomerGG - The threads' header should already have answered your question...

Roy

Haven't tried that. Unfortunately i have a pure data plan, so my provider restricts sms by default. And i cant take out the sim and replace as i was once trying to break open my sim slot and take out the sim, during that crazy struggle i guess i broke that sim holder. so once the sim comes out, i have to struggle a lot to get the network back on by replacing it
Edit: dont think hangouts will give the sms sending option by any chance. So try with a third party app and let us know

Thanks for the stock rooted rom. FYI, I had flashed CF SuperSU v1.99r4 and also MKernel a67, looks okay so far. I'm updating the Google apps from Play store now. Once done, I'll be installing TB to restore my apps.
One word of caution to those flashing this rom. Note that there seems to be no bootanimation, so don't be mistaken that the rom is not working. Give it time to boot up. :good:
Edit:
One thing I noticed strange is in TB, System ROM is showing 670MB (8.45 MB free). Before this, I was on 4.4.2 stock rooted, before I manually flashed boot.img and system.img. It was showing same results, but 9.XX MB free. Is this correct? I vaguely remembered that it should be almost 900 plus MB. Can anyone confirm?

Sorry for this stupid question. How can I updated these .img files ?

Thank you for this work!! I had the slimkat, I did a wipe recovery and then I installed. Where is the menu button?
Art is not activated?

To flash them you need to enable USB debugging and then reboot to bootloader. Here use the following fastboot commands.
For Updating bootloader:
fastboot flash bootloader name_of_the_bootloader_file.img
For radio:
fastboot flash radio name_of_the_radio_file.img
If you want a detailed instruction, go here and follow Method 2.

It is the same file as the one google pushes for Nexus 7 device. So what ever is present in the original stock image, will be there.
Menu button is only active in apps that give it by default, there is an xposed module which can activate menu button in every app.
For ART, not sure why google misses the option to switch to ART every time on Nexus 7 devices. Will check and see how to add that option.

It is dalvik. Google does not seem to want including ART for the nexus 7. Read somewhere on google forums that it might be a hardware issue cos of which they are not including it.

flashing aborted
Version tilapia2 flashing aborted, version tilapia 1 ok. Do you know where is the problem? Using the latest version of the recovery v6.0.4.3.

Good work! I maintain BSZKitKat for grouper (ODEX and DEODEX). Awesome job getting right in front of the 4.4.4 update!

Correct - we lack sufficient space on the /system partition for the binaries required for switching to ART

Cant' flash this rom, i get an error and the message FAILED.
I'm using TWRP recovery 2.7.

Can we have a flashable zip please?
It is much easier to deal with!
Thanks

[Q] Cannot update custom Rom with OTA update

Hi gents/ladies.
I'm using the deox ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535024 and last night I got the 4.3 Sense 5.5 update from HTC.
When it tries to update it goes into TWRP recovery and does nothing.
I found the update myself in sdcard/downloads. When I try to run it I get all kinds of errors which sadly i Don't know how to screen print.
When I reboot into the system the update is still sitting in the notification bar.
Any ideas?
Love n hugs
You can't update over a custom rom. You need to use stock or the guide posted in general or q and a forum.

noob question
hello everyone and happy new year guys n gals!!
i have my new htc one mini for almost a week so i haven't been playing around with any roms etc. I upgraded to the new ota 3-4 days ago and i have managed to get my phone saying
**TAMPERED**
**UNLOCKED**
im using the TW recovery and im about to try the Odex rom.
Am I good to go like that and flash it or do I need anything else? The tampered means that Im rooted?
Thats my 2nd smartphone..my 1st was a wildfire S so as u can understand Im feeling like a pimp at the moment the device is amazing and i cant taste the proper feeling it yet
I think i've soft bricked my phone.
I cracked open the ZIP file and did a fastboot flash recovery recovery.zip
This wiped my phone but put me back on the stock recovery.
I then tried to pull down the OTA update. It got half way then bombed out with a red explination mark.
I then went back to fastboot and did fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot -w update 0B4S9ke6WTqTJSVEzZkExV0xzdnM.zip
I got the error:
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
Now i'm stuck on a white HTC ONE screen.
Any suggestions?

Which ROM are you on now, pure stock? You have unlocked the bootloader, and can still boot, so I assume you are S-ON?
Question: Any reason why you are flashing the odex rom? If you want to pimp proper style, deodex is your best bet....you are flashing tr1gg3r84's 4.3 stock right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575766

Yup, you've gone soft....
Not to much of a problem - please supply the following information:
ROM base (stock/custom?)
Bootloader status - locked/unlocked
S-ON or S-OFF
You get to the bootloader menu by pressing the power key and volume down buttons together until it appears....
Thanks for your response, totally soft!
I'm trying to go back to stock ROM from triggers Stock 4.2.2 - 1.22.401.1 Odexed, the OTA zip is 4.3 sense 5.5
Unlocked, s-on
There was a zip folder within the OTA zip called firmware with a bunch of .img files and the android-version.txt.
I unzipped them into the OTA zip and ran fastboot -w ota.zip again and this time got
archive does not contain boot.sig
archive does not contain recovery.sig
archive does not contain system.sig
I extracted the whole folder looking for sig files but can't find anything.
In a perfect world I'd sooner go to a ROM without all the bloatware crap like best deals etc. Failing that I'd like to stick as close to stock as possible.
Thanks for your help, appreciate it.
Well..not sure why i flashed the odex one...if i flash the deodex what will i keep from the setup i ve done so far?? I think im s-on and rooted. Is there a way to see if im s on or not??
Yes im flashing the 4.3!
The specific rom tho is nice and clean..the option to have blink off is a charm!!
I have an issue with my back up tho..i think im having duplicated data..
So the deodex is the one that really boosts the dev??

First off, I'd suggest you flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575766 which IS stock, only SuperSU and kernel mods added.
Fastboot flash the TWRP recovery, factory reset from wipe menu, reboot to recovery, ADB push the ROM and SuperSU v1.86 (download from chainfire). Flash the ROM and SuperSU.
Once you are up and running, and still want to de-bloat, then search for my post about Romcleaner.....
If you need detailed instructions, let us know!

The bootloader menu shows your phone status (hold power key and volume down until it appears).
Install DiskUsage from the store, it will show you if you have large files/cache on your sdcard.
Yes, deodex is more dev "friendly"

Silly me..i hadnt read the lines until their end Im S-on.. Is that good or do i need s-off?
Thnx a lot for the info about the diskUsage. Very handy prog! And I saw that Ive messed up the internal mem..too many partitions for no specific reason and around 600mb of cache.
If I want to make a fresh install of the deodex do I need to make a clear storage along with the davlik/cache wipe and factory reset?

Yes, you need to format data, not just wipe - BE WARNED, this will remove ALL user data from your phone, INCLUDING any nandroid backups.....
If you are flashing the 4.3 deodex you don't need to be S-OFF
Oh, and remember to flash boot.img which you extract from the rom zip file - do this AFTER you have wiped, adb pushed rom and supersu, installed both, rebooted to recovery, then reboot to bootloader - when there, use: fastboot flash boot boot.img

Thanks for your help, I had to sideload the ROM as push locked up TWRP but got it on in the end. SuperSU installed itself, possibly from the market, it didn't stick so had to download it from the link and push it via TWRP.

You can get rid of Kid Mode/Parent controls by either freezing (or uninstalling) Kid Mode using Titanium Backup, or add KidMode-google.apk to your romcleaner user file....

Hi again,
Sorry to pester you once again, hope you don't mind.
So I used the ROM cleaner and may have stuffed things up.
It got rid of some crap like Best Deals, but now my blink feed only has Facebook and Google+ updates, I can't seem to use it for the news; which oddly enough is all I use it for!
Also I'm looking at the text file and it does say:
com.twitter.android*.apk Twitter
yet Twitter is still installed. A piece of software I care not about.
Did I use the wrong file or something? Is there a way of reverting or do I start from scratch?
Thanks again

Hi, apologies for the delay replying.... Do you still need help?
The script removes most HTC bloat - there are a couple of apk's you need to install back to system.....
You can either flash the ROM again, and modify the the user file, or install the missing apk's which you can extract from the ROM zip - if you need help, let me know....

Hiya mate.
So I decided to rebuild my phone rather than restore APK's. I've attached a no-sense.txt file from your post and hashed out a few apps and added the kid mode thing.
does this look right? I think this is the one I used before and yet it never removed twitter. Does it sometimes have to be ran more than once?
Thanks again. Lots of thumbs up to you.

Credit to @R_a_z_v_a_n for the explanation (save me doing it!)
Odex Vs Deodex:
What is an ODEX file?
In Android file system, applications come in packages with the extension .apk. These application packages, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space. These ‘odex’ files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting. Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application. On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applications difficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution.
What is an DEODEX file?
Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
So, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.
The advantage of deodexing is in the ability to modify various APKs.
On the other hand, since the .odex files were supposed to quickly build the dalvik cache, removing them would mean longer initial boot times. However, this is true only for the first ever boot after deodexing, since the cache would still get built over time as applications are used. Longer boot times may only be seen again if the dalvik cache is wiped for some reason.
Re GPS, please install GPS Status Test & Fix - No Ads from the store and let me know if this runs ok....

As many people will soon comment, toolkits aren't recommended by people on here. Short explanation: they don't teach people the process which keeps people from solving simple issues. Seeing as you're using a custom kernel I would flash the factory image of 4.4.4. There's also a thread currently in the general forum about an auto updater which might help me you out as well.
Rooted users should flash a rooted stock zip. It's the easiest and quickest method. Link in my signature under resources section

If its the one from my signature under the resources section, its just a rom It doesnt wipe. Flashing zips via recovery doesnt wipe the data unlike flashing factory images. In fact factory images only wipes data if you flash the userdata.img (which happens if you use the flash-all.bat) but if yo just flash system.img and boot.img, it doesnt wipe anything, although rooted users are best using the zip anyway

Stock is odexed
When you install an app from play, those apps default settings are stored dalvik-cache however apps that come with a ROM use .odex files instead.
With a deodexed ROM , the apps that come with the ROM also use dalvik-cache.

Adding some more info, deodexed ROM's or apps allow for easier theming, with a (questionable or not) small performance loss.

True. I ALWAYS go for deodexed as it's easier for theming and mods, This excludes xposed however. There may be a small perormance hit being deodexed, but customisation wins out for me.
That said, those wanting stock experience should stick with odexed

Performance difference is way too slight to notice on the Nexus 5, it's only a bit noticeable on low-end/old devices. Might as well be going for deodexed.

I have no means of testing Dot View.
OK Google works fine for me and so does the calibration.
Did you do a full wipe prior to flashing the rom?
Did you restore apps or data?
Logcat for Dot View?

See above ? Also, I have a dot view case. Pretty fancy gimmick, but hopefully in future iterations will be cool.
Haha, totally had the same HTC flash screen for half a hour. Totally forgot to flash the boot.img for 4.4.4 when I did the firmware... That took care of everything
Screen wont turn on after flashing 4.0.1
It is my first time trying NuSenseSIX. I updated the firmware and flashed the ROM to my Verizon One M8 but now the screen won't turn on, but as I press the volume buttons, I hear the sounds and I can somehow turn the flashlight on.
The problem is that I can't get it to turn off so I can enter recovery!
I think the problem might be the "Fast Boot" option which I can uncheck since the screen won't show anything. Any input will be deeply appreciated.

I am trying exactly that, but when I hold Power + vol down after it reboot, it simply takes a screenshot(I hear the sound) and doesn't do anything else evend if I keep pressing the buttons for over a minute.
Is there a specific time I should start pressing Power+Vol Down when it reboots?
Finally did it...I needed to press Pwr+VolDwn exactly when it was about to restart.

Did you get the Rom to install? Everything good to go?
Quick question: ready to install 4.4.4 but need to know the following? Install by pc or by twrp? Do I need to update firmware or radio first? Then a clean install means wipe in what order by twrp?

U would use TWRP to flash Rom. And update to new firmware first. If u haven't do a backup of ur current setup/Rom ur on. Then wipe. I go into advance as well and select data, cache, dalvik cache, and system.

If you install v4.2 you should be able to install normally through twrp. Yes, update firmware, factory reset in twrp. Dalvik cache, cache, system, data, etc. Don't wipe internal sd or external sd.
Edit: didn't see your post Holla420

I cannot seem to get the firmware to flash using TWRP. Is it supposed to be this hard? I have installed the new ROM just not the firmware yet. I have downloaded it and checked the md5 which shows it passed. Please tell me what I may be doing wrong? the file name is 3.28.605.4-firmware.zip.
Just want to have this correct before proceeding further.

You don't update firmware through TWRP. Save the file to your external sd card and rename.
SD CARD METHOD DIRECTIONS
Download 4.4.3 firmware
Rename file to 0P6BIMG(zero at the start)
Place file on root of SD card*
Reboot to bootloader an click hboot it will auto detect file
Follow the prompts an you will be updated*
Then reboot to boot loader either by holding power+volume down or through the Rom. Select hboot and the update should start. Follow the instructions and you should be good to go
NuSense 4.4.4
Flawless!
Also applied the HK mod from another thread and everything works perfectly.
Thanks, Santod!
Hello everyone. just stared put your Rom. everything seems to be fine, but. Blink can`t get to show my location to display weather. In the setting of location included. Can not find my city of Lviv. how it can be cured?
Go into the weather app and add your city. You should be able to find it or select " current location" it found Lviv when I just searched for it.
I'm sorry, but I could not make friends with your Rom not one keyboard

[How-To] Update to G900V_OC4 - 5.0 and KeepRoot (3/30/2015)

**You can begin the following process from any Build/ROM but you must already have Root Access**
**Required** FlashFire - Play BETA - PREVIEW
1. Join the G+ community using the same Google account as you're using for Play on your phone/tablet Here.
2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play Here.
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
**Caution!** The following process is only for the G900V Verizon S5 variant. Use on any other device may result in a hardbrick!
Download:
- G900V_OC4_Stock_Rooted_ROM
- G900V_OC4_Stock_DeOdexed_ROM
Set your screen timeout setting to 10 mins before beginning!
1. Place the ROM onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard).
2. Open the FlashFire app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Select "Flash Zip or OTA" and locate and select the ROM. Leave "Auto-mount" unchecked under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
5. From the main menu Uncheck all options under "EverRoot" and use default "Reboot" setting.
6. Last, press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash .
The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system before beginning the flash. FlashFire will pause for about 1 minute while flashing the "system" partition. Once complete your device will reboot and pause on the Verizon splash screen for 1 - 2 minutes (10 - 15 mins for DeOdexed version) before completely rebooting. Done!
Tip: for blazing fast speed turn off animations from Developer Options and reboot!
Known Issues:
- None!
Optional - Enable Native Tethering:
- G900V_OC4_TetherAddOn (Flash using FlashFire's "Flash zip or ota" option).
Notes:
1. The above process will not affect your Knox Warranty Flag.
2. The process will update your Modem, Non-hlos, System, Kernel, Stock Recovery, and Bootloader to OC4.
3. No need to wipe prior to flashing, the ROM will automatically perform a factory data reset. If you prefer not to wipe User Data replace the Updater-Script in the ROM's META-INF/com/google/android folder with the version attached to this post (remove ".txt" extension before placing in folder). Bear in mind that carrying over incompatible User Data from a prior Android version may cause issues.
4. If you do not already have root access (or to unbrick) you must flash the G900VVRU1ANCG_Full_Odin.tar (flash in Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+)), root with Towelroot (this version does not require internet access), then proceed with the above process.
5. To learn more about FlashFire's capabilities on locked bootloader devices see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60070810&postcount=2

Let's just say the initial 5.0 release had a few bugs. Let's hope this release works better.
Thanks. I did your previous update with this method, and it worked great. Can you give the steps that are needed to get to where you need to be to now install this update? I think I know, but I'm not sure. Also, what about apps and settings? It does not seem they are preserved. It looks like the previous write up has been edited and no longer includes these steps. I had no problems with this part. Is it still an option to do that? Thanks for the awesome work!
update
So this will work fine updating if on rooted 0A8?
I would assume we could do a data backup, then restore data after flashing is done
So there's no need to flash a firmware or kernel in Odin after flashing the rom? Are we still going to be on 0A8 baseband? Or should we flash the OC4 kernel?

Correct, all necessary OC4 partitions including the kernel, modem, etc are included in the ROM.

Only recommended if your Data backup is from 5.0. Those updating from 4.4 should not restore Data for compatibility reasons.

No worries, good luck with SS.
Also fyi.....there is a guy in the N900V forum that has developed a safestrap replacement called multisystem. He is waiting for 5.0 before releasing and claims it will work on 5.0. If so, it can likely be easily ported to the S5.
Got it. I did see that. I guess it is just that simple. I thought there might be a little more detail needed, but I will give it a shot. Hopefully safestrap comes to lollipop one day to make it a little easier!

After flashing the ROM you can just reboot, no need to re-flash the OC4 kernel since the new ROM already flashed it.
Does anyone know if the Alarm clock works on silent now? I think they got rid of the interruption settings did they not?
I have run into a problem i can't figure out. When i try to run safestrap it just wont boot into it when i boot from the app. Have tried it many times. Thinking back wasn't safestrap broken when you are on 5.0? I went from kit kat, rooted and did the keep root tutorial to have it in 5.0. Not really sure what to do.

Safe-strap doesn't work on 5.0. You have to flash G900V_NK2_Stock_Kernel to access it.

Hey guys,
I need a bit of help here.
For some strange reason I'm unable to install various apps from the play store like Antutu benchmar, AcDisplay or even unable to update The Google app!
I've cleared the cache of the play store and have rebooted the phone but still the same ! What else could I do?
Edit: after another reboot the system optimised itself and the problem is gone! Weird! Anyway is good now, even the screen turns itself off whereas before it wasn't doing it!

The same thing happened just now. I couldn't install an app from the play store. Had to clear data and reboot. It's OK now.
I also find that the battery drains fast. I started the day with 100% and is not even 4pm and it's down to 39%! Nothing like the reviews I've seen saying that the battery should last 2 days!
No doubt that the OS has quite a few bugs.
I'm starting to miss my old Nexus 5 ?
thanks Alberto..

How did you get twrp? When I was looking to flash it, the only info I could find said that you'd need to build it for this phone yourself
A new OTA Update has been released by Ulefone (20160505), it seems to fix all instabilities but i'm not sure. I'll confirm it after some days of testing.
In the meanwhile i recommend you to update your device in order to get as much as possible feedbacks about it.

OK, thanks for your help and thank you for this thread and all the support. It's really appreciated! :good:
I wonder if anyone else has received the update?
I'm having lots of problems with this phone and I don't know who to contact to report them so I'm going to list them here in case some of you are suffering the same problems:
* I don't get a 4G signal despite this phone being compatible with band 800Mhz and that's the band my telephone supplier uses.
* The finger print scanner doesn't always work.
* I have to reboot the phone often because I get an error when trying to install apps.
* The battery life is very poor considering its size. I'm unable to get a full day's use with one full charge and I don't play games!
* The screen comes on while the phone is my pocket.
* The phone overheats often for no apparent reason.
* I get a network error when I try to send a feedback using the OTA feedback form.
* Maybe others that I can't remember now.
In summary, I'm a little disappointed and frustrated. . I hope that the update comes quickly and is able to fix some of these problems!
That gives me hopes! Thanks!

In order to download the ROM you have to log in but it doesn't give you an option to sign up either (at least I don't see it)
Would you be kind enough to share the download link please?
