Hello everybody,
First of all, I'd like to apologise if I'm posting this in the wrong thread, I'm kinda lost, as I'm new to this website and the smartphone world in general.
See, I've just bought a Sony Xperia Tipo ( http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_tipo-4718.php ) in the UK, and I moved back to my country (Peru), so my warranty is already voided.
What I wanted to do was to root and install a JB Rom (admittedly, I haven't found much information about this, and even the beginner guides I found confusing).
I was thinking on doing it without asking by following this tutorial on how to root a Xperia Tipo ( http://androidadvices.com/root-sony-xperia-tipo-st21a-android-phone-tutorial/ ), then I found this other one in the XDA forums http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1890478 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971370 but the comments were somehow discouraging and the instructions were more than confusing for my slow working brain (sorry!).
Then I read that Sony Xperia Tipo does not support the unlock bootloader function ( http://2e0b66ea.yyv.co/ - from the official sony xperia website), does that mean I won't be able to install a cuztomized JB ROM?
Now, I've also searched through the forums and found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28929562#post28929562
Having said that, I would very much appreciate a rooting guide for dummies for the Sony Xperia Tipo (or should I just use one of those tutorials i posted?)
Will I be able to install the JB ROM I mentioned on my Tipo?
Thank you guys so much in advance for any future replies and I apologise for the stupidity of my question, but I had to ask before bricking my phone.
P.S: Needs to be said that I just bought the phone, so I didn't make any configurations or anything, was waitign to see if I can root my headset first.
you can unlock boot loader for tipo
as it is confirmed by sony official website
check it out...............
they updated there website..........
Guys,
This is my first post after getting a new Sony Xperia C (INDIA). Before this, i was a proud owner of a Motorola Atrix 2 !!!
I have seen many people searching (even i was one of them) for Xperia C root which is not yet available. I finally found a .exe in a chinese forum for Sony Xperia c39h and guess what i was able to root my phone in the 1st attempt.
Attaching the package, enable USB Debugging on phone, attach the phone to PC or laptop and then run the Sony Xperia C Root.exe. All the credits goes to its developer.
Enjoy Sony Xperia C users
Thanks
RG
Thank you boss... Can you please provide the stock rom of this phone.. I want to port to Micromax a116.

Hello,
Even I agree that we need a separate Forum for Sony Xperia C now. Also even though the phone is already but it's always good to have phone rooted so that few customizations like themes, fonts, removing in-built apps can be performed
I am now looking forward to install CWM. I am trying different methods to get it to work. If anyone knows how can we get CWM installed, please post the method.
Thanks in advance:cyclops:
Thanks

Hello,
While following http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2160490 , I somehow bricked my phone. Using the MTK tool, i was putting the CWM recovery, on the PC screen it said it was successful and rebooting however the phone did not turn up even waiting for 30 minutes. So i unplugged the phone and found that it wont even turn on now. Tried everything i could but nothing happens when i push the Power On button.
Tried charging the battery, did a reset by removing the back door. It doesn't even boot to recovery of fastboot mode. Tried pushing in the boot.img and recovery.img using the fastboot but the is not getting detected.
So finally gave it to the service centre. Let's see by tomorrow evening they willl let me know if it is a Software or Hardware problem. Just hoping that
it is a hardware problem and the service centre guys doesn't come to know about the Root and the stuff i was trying ..
If it is a hardware problem, then they said they will get the phone replaced
Keeping my fingers crossed

Hi,
I just checked http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/supported-devices and as of now the phone isn't supported. I forgot about bootloader unlocking while i was trying to push the cwm recovery. Any idea if the service centre guys will come to know about this. because if they come to know about rooting and recovery stuff then they would surely charge heavy for the repairs.
Please let me know.
Thanks

I am sure.. they don't know about rooting stuff
Thank you for posting this information to root Xperia C, but I have already rooted it using 'V Root' Chinese version, which I got from Internet. Does this rooting method install the CWM ?
Some info
I own an Mtk6589 device. From my experience mediatek devices are very sensitive. Flashing a wrong recovery is enough to corrupt the baseband and you will end up having a phone with no network. Do not play with it unless you have a spflash tool flashable firmware.
I dont think there is any bootloader unlocking needed. Mtk6589 devices dont even come with fastboot mode usually. The flashing is done via VCOM mode, which you enter via pluging the phone to usb while in switch off mode.
If you have rooted, plz upload a backup. You can take full rom backup using Online Nandroid Backup Tool ( search Playstore )
Thanks !

Thanks for sharing Bro !
But I got plenty of questions..
Is it possible to modifies the themes, system ui, or the fonts after rooting it without unlocking the bootloader?
Thanks in advance !:good::laugh:
If you have rooted xperia C you can change themes, fonts, system ui and many other things using Root Explorer or similar app.I have done many changes and removed all bloat-ware.
hello, im really looking forward to have this phone
can you guys shows some benchmark, like from antutu maybe?
and what about the battery life, because xperia c is almost identical with lenovo p780 in specifications, except for the battery
thx guys
Benchmark on Antutu is above 13000 and battery life is very good BUT camera is not giving very good results as expected from Sony 8mp phone, also video playback is not very sharp even with Bravia 2 engine, and audio output volume is very low compared to other Sony phones, so decide for yourself if you want it or not.
Bad News for Xperia C users !!!
I am very sad after hearing that Bootloader on Xperia C cannot be unlocked
Now i feel why did i sell my Motorola Atrix 2 :crying:

Here is my review of the phone for the people who are considering to buy it.
Hi everybody,
I am new to this forum and to phones flashing in general. I am writing this thread in order to request your help to resolve a problem.
I have a Sony Xperia Sola, and I installed a custom firmware on it following the following topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/u-development/4-0-4-xu-miui-v5-fast-stable-t2482327
Unfortunately, I did not careful cause the firmware is meant for an Xperia U, not an Xperia Sola. After trying to reboot, the phone does not start at all now. It vibrates once and that's all. When I plug it to my PC, the phone's red led is on for one second and then nothing.
Would you please give me some tips to resolve this issue ? I would be very happy to fix this problem.
Best regards,
Ghayth
I want to do this due a mistake I made, but... I don't know any directions. I'm SO AFRAID of doing that and brick my phone once and for all. Also I'm scared of using ODIN, cuz it's so hard to work with... Is there an easy way or will I have to do it the hard way?
And please assure me I'm not doing the wrong thing and that IT IS SAFE to do so. I'll regret if I totally brick it if there's no way back...
Thanks.
PS: In addition.. Is there a website or community where I can find official (latest) firmwares released from manufacturers or will I have to wander around Google?
Hi,
First, Odin is for Samsung only. So won't work for a Sony. And if it tried to work, it would likely destroy your device.
Here is a tutorial on flashing firmware for your device... As well as links to firmware. You can ask for further help about this in the thread.... But please read it carefully first, then again.... And once more if needed, then ask for help if you're stuck. ?

Good evening, friends of mine , you know have a problem , my Sony Xperia E4G ( 2006), which had recently acquired crashed , I know, it is my fault .
I unlock the bootloader using Sony's official website, it was successful, then it using "Flashtool" I wanted to install the "CMW Recovery" from a command window (CMD), connecting in FlashBoot mode.
Something went wrong, because after that my phone did not pass the initial logo of Sony, you know that something is wrong, I'm not very experienced and know maybe I should not do it if I was not very knowledgeable, but also learn and I really can change firmware to other phones like the HTC Desire and the Sony Xperia 626s Z3 Compact.
I Download a rom by XperiFirm: "xxxxxxx-xxx.12x431x.ftf" and try to flash the phone but hangs.
And worst of all, had already tried Flashtool a newer version and flash did not help me. I hope you can help me and we can save this phone does not have much time being purchased.
PSD: I do not speak much English, I hope you can understand me and have not committed serious offenses writing.
Thank you very much my friends.
