[REQ]Moto X camera from 4.4.3 - Moto X Themes and Apps

Moto has strangely (not yet) updated their camera app on the Play Store. Can someone with 4.4.3 upload the APK here? I'm not going to update my ROM to 4.4.3 until a custom one is released.

The T-Mobile version is in the general section already. None of the other carriers have released the update yet.

Hi, I've just downloaded 4.4.3, I attach the camera APK.

Better quality?

I see no difference, but I haven't tested much time. I can't pause the video recording, which is supposed to be one of the new features, so maybe there is something else to update, not just the camera apk

Many thanks!!!

Ok, just got the OTA and installed it..........I'll have to revert to 4.4.2........this version is still buggy, for instance, camera does not have a on screen option to switch between cameras, so I'm stuck with the front camera.......not a big fan of taking selfies. Beside that, the slow motion recording is gone. IMO it's not worth to upgrade yet.

I have installed the apk above (from the 4.4.3 firmware), and I have those options (I'm still on 4.4.2), but as I said before, maybe there is something else that determines the camera behavior

Okay, after thinking it through and chatting with a tier 1 tech from Motorola(which didn't help), I've decided to flash TWRP again and picked up a flashable 4.4.3 from the XDA community, voila, it works and I'm pleased.

Thanks for posting this...however, I don't see any difference in usage...maybe behind the scenes is better?

As Motorola said I didn't find pause button while video recording... In 4.4.3

Works fine ....the results are much better in low light confitions.
Thanks for the download link

Nice pic I JUST took with the 4.4.3 one. (Still on 4.4.2)

I tested the pre-update and post-update camera and it seems that there's no difference with picture quality at all: the front-facing camera's low-light horizontal streaking still exists.
Motorola must have done the camera fix in the system's root with the 4.4.3 update, which may be why we don't see any difference with the camera. The exposure, low-light streaking, and flash coloring don't seem like things that can be fixed with an app update. :/

I can confirm that... I'm on Endymion currently and i see the purple line too... approx 3-4 pixels thick.
But to be fair to instagram, they do warn when selecting the advanced camera that it does not work on all devices...
Use Camera360 with Compatibility mode.

??? Why not just use the built in stock camera???
He wants to use instagram... And only has problem with the advanced camera inside of instagram. Just disable that option and you're good to go if your stock camera is OK. No sense using a third party camera of the problem is app specific.
Beamed telepathically using Tapatalk
The problem is with camera drivers from cm or the kernel.
The stock camera app has same problem.
That's why I use camera360 which have hardware compatibility mode.

Oh ok...
Just wondering... are you talking about an ICS ROM? Or GB? I think the OP has lost interest after starting the thread, and left us here to squabble!!
If you ask me, i think this problem is app centred, and I encountered it even on Instagram running on GB 2.3.5 (I'm running Endymion - Sense 3.5) where the stock camera is the best you'll find for the Desire S on any ROM.
I'm using stock ROM. Obviously I'm aware I can disable the option of using Instagram's in-built camera, but this is not the solution I'm hoping for I love Instagram filters but I don't like the fact I have to come out of the app and open up stock Android cam app, resize it, and go back again. Using Instagram's advanced am feature is so much better.
The rest of the image is fine and the option works perfectly APART from this one really ruining fluorescent pink line down the left side of every image.

Well, that's a bug with the app... sit tight, with Instagram's growing popularity, they're bound to roll out updates with fixes to the camera anytime soon!
Regardless, there's nothing you or I could do to fix an app issue. Instagram will have to fix that.
When you still experiencing this using Instagram camera try to switch to front camera take a shot, then revert to back camera. Pink line gone now. Works for me.

OTA 4.0.4 solving Skype problem?

Greetings,
I read somewhere that the latest OTA update to 4.0.4/Sense 4.1 has solved the problems with skype.
Can anyone confirm this, please?
Also what about the camera does it focus at night before capturing photos, or still after update night shots out of focus?

That has to be device specific, I've never had it on any rom. Rather it be a old 1.78 or a 1.84 or the newer bases

Help with Stock Moto Cam in Official CM 10.2 (4.3)

I can't seem to get the 4.1.1 stock moto cam apk to install on CM 4.3. I've made sure to slap it into the app/system folder and set the permissions to 644 "rwx rxx rxx" but it still wont show up in my app drawer after rebooting.
On an unrelated note the Moto X camera and gallery install just fine. What am I doing wrong? .
It probably requires blur framework to run. You probably won't ever get it to work.

Yeah, probably something with the Blur framework. Why do you want the 4.1 camera if you can get the MotoX camera to work? It seems better in every way to me.

Along with this, you're probably going to get issues with system version compatibility.

Would you happen to have the apk of the MotoX camera? Last time I checked the MotoX cam was taking photos at 6MP instead of 8MP and had limited functionality as far as video recording goes (can't choose the quality of video). Also HDR photos take a lifetime. On stock it would take two seconds.

Improved camera samples?

I am considering buying a Mini and I would like to ask, if there was a camera update thats targeting the actual photo quality? I red that there was some functions update, but did this improved the photos? All sample photos I saw on reviews were not much good, so I am interested in this.
Thanks
When I first received my maxx the photo quality was hit or miss. After the initial camera update the quality is very consistent. Just be sure that your lighting is good and your hand is steady. I think that many people expect these tiny cameras to be able to take excellent pictures under any circumstance. This is never going to happen.

Thanks, the camera update is that from Play store or it is a new android build? If so, can this be now taken and not kitkat?
It was the first or second ROM update that came through. The app seems to have added features like the ability to select a point of focus or exposure. That has proven to be a useful feature too.

Here are a few I took today in HDR and not HDR. I think the colors are rich and you can see a lot of contrast.
Hmm there must be compression on this forum. They appear much sharper on my computer.
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Interesting would be to try to photo the same scene before and after camera update...
as shipped my moto maxx took horrible pictures. I wasn't on the 4.2.2 camera update long enough to get a good sample, but the pics are much better after the kitkat upgrade (which may have been improvements from camera update)
X users are getting even better low light performance after this last update they got so I would expect the ultra line will also see an improvement soon.

5.1.13.12 is the current version.
Up until now I pressed on the focus button and I took the pic. Now this doesn't work.
Am I wrong?
You now press anywhere on the screen apart from the focus point.
Also by tapping and holding the focus button you can lock focus? Was this there before?

Thanks. I haven't actually gotten the phone. Which is weird because I decided to buy it this late in the year. Pretty excited to install the update for the phone once I receive it.
Edit: Just started wondering if the this can be installed on the XT1572 Style..
Hey guys, how is the exposure improved? Other than low light improvement, I sure hope the overblown highlight is fixed as well. The overblowing problem makes its photos less attractive than others.
