[DEVS][OTA] Original M7UL 4.4.3 OTA update zip - One (M7) Android Development

The original update OTA can be obtained here: WWE_4.07.1700.4-3.62.1700.1_KTU84L.H4_release_377648
This cannot be flashed unless your device meets all requirements. Wait for a ROM otherwise.

Can someone with the latest version of the stock 4.4.2 GPE help me out! Need one file to update to 4.4.3!

Trust me, the first thing I do is google.. been there, done that! Yeah sadly deleted and I'm still stuck at 4.4.2, so many must have made a CWM backup before updating to 4.4.3, yet so hard to get that file :/

What if you manually edit updater-script to not patch Youtube?

I could do that, but then I'll have the same issue on next OTA! I'd rather have a 100% clean update, if you know what I mean!

Could you make a ROM GPE with Sense camera ?

Mine fails as well - on basicDreams.apk. It doesn't look like it can be applied to every device, e.g. when integrating apps into the ROM using Titanium Backup it will most likely fail. Will be taken care of by the ROM devs though.

I don't use Titanium Backup or anything alike.

Can we flash this OTA.zip from stock recovery after we returned back to Google Edition ?

HAAANG ON!! hang on......
this....is a 4.xx.xxxx.x update
previous was 3.62.xxxx.x
....I may assume that is like a....major release or something...?
I expect a good improvement, even in performance (that on sense roms is always 2 times better, dunno why)

Can we flash this?

Stick to your sense ROM then because performance hasn't changed much between 4.4.2 and 4.4.3

Don't think so, it's an OTA file that needs to be installed by the stock recovery, not a custom recovery.

About to RUU back to 4.4.2 with stock recovery.
What do I do afterwards. I have the file in the OP downloaded. Do I just place it in root storage and look for a update than root afterwards.

All I had to do was RUU to 4.4.0 because that's the one I had handy, let the phone OTA to 4.4.2, and when it booted all I had to do was hit the "check for update" button 2-3 times and then it prompted me to download the OTA and voila, 4.4.3

You would have to put the OTA at the right location and name it exactly what the recovery expects and I don't know how to do that.
Thing is with stock recovery, there are no options, it either updates or resets to factory default.

can someone make a flashable zip of the rom? Wouldn't really want to go thru all the trouble of converting back to stock recovery and rom to update since im on a custom rom now? A flashable zip would mean a lot!

Just wait a day or two.

I haven't really noticed a performance increase or decrease tbh after flashing the new firmware. It says "5.11.401.10" because I edited the android-info.txt file. But the date is 5/16/2014, to confirm that it is the newer v1.54 hboot. How would I go about making a deodex system dump into a flashable rom.zip? I have the system dump if someone can help me with the procedure.

Yes, but they will remove your custom recovery and might even lock your bootloader (there are bootloader.blob files, but I don't know what they do).

Yes. This is also important for other users reading this thread: These ROMs are probably beta's, so if you flash this on your tablet you won't get new OTA's. I'm not 100% certain about this, but just in case: Make a backup!!!
OK so its not like Samsung where I can install the firmware and go back.
Btw when I do power and volume I get android guy with red error why is this. I have not rooted nor tried to install kernel/rom before
I was under the hope an official firmware wouldn't void warranty but it looks like it won't do updates without cwm which I'm not comfortable installing at this time

That's because the Acer recovery does not have a menu or other interface. If you boot into stock recovery, you'll get the 'error android'. If you boot to recovery with a file called 'update.zip' on your SD-card, the stock recovery will flash this update.zip without error.
However, you can only flash official update.zip files with this, no custom ROMs.

Oh OK thanks.
Yeah I tried installing that one from SD card it failed at 50%
regarding the update script,
to get these roms to work, the region check needs to be bypassed (after installing a custom rom), can i just comment out the line in question?
assert(getprop("ro.product.name") == "a510_pa_ca");
and to keep cwm recovery, can i just comment out the recovery package extraction?
package_extract_dir("recovery", "/system");
do i need to comment out the bootloader.blob file? some of what i read seems to indicate if i dont comment it out, the bootloader will be locked after flashing.
then rezip, make sure cwm is set to take an unsigned zip, and flash?
for those trying to select the right rom and dont want to download all 8, the correspond regions are as follows (the RV28RCXX begin an excerpt from the file name on the acer site):
Acer_AV041_A510_1.072.00_EMEA_CUS1 --> RV28RC02
Acer_AV041_A510_1.073.00_WW_GEN1 --> RV28RC01
Acer_AV041_A510_1.074.00_EMEA_GB --> RV28RC03
Acer_AV041_A510_1.076.00_EMEA_DE --> RV28RC04
Acer_AV041_A510_1.076.00_PA_CUS1 --> RV28RC04
Acer_AV041_A510_1.079.00_PA_CA --> RV28RC06
Acer_AV041_A510_1.084.00_AAP_AU --> RV28RC08
Acer_AV041_A510_1.090.00_TWN_GEN1 --> RV28RC10
they all have region checks, so if you have installed a custom rom, the acer roms will fail to flash without some additional tweaking. And two regions (RC04) do have the exact same file name, no idea why acer did that.
And for A511 ?
OK so I retried flashing after saving data and it worked this time last time I tried it kept failing at 50%.
No noticeable difference and the stock browser still crashes on me.
Oh well just have to wait for jelly bean update maybe for some noticeable fixes.
Acer_AV041_A510_1.084.00_AAP_AU --> RV28RC08
For any Aussies reading here I have tested a full deplete and had no major issues except the ones I was already getting I.e stock browser crash and occasionally can't wake up the device.
Though this hasn't happened yet I'm assuming it still is there.

you apparently have a modified build.prop. You probably will have to re-flash system.img to apply the OTA.
or find what was changed in build.prop and revert the change.
If you installed ANY modifications (dalvik mod, camera mod, center clock, dpi changes, ANYTHING) than it will not flash.

Hey guys, got (what I believe is) a similar issue.
the error message I'm getting when I try to flash the update (or sideload it) is "EMMC:/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/bootand a huge string of characters ending with the end quote that follows)" has unexpected contents.
I've flashed back to stock krt16m, bootloader is still unlocked with cwm recovery, and I still get this error. The only modifications I had made were flashing the bricked-kernel hammerhead and enabling doubletap to wake, also installed xposed framework with gravitybox and advanced power options.
I flashed the uninstall file for bricked-kernel hammerhead (which was a boot.img so assuming it was this and not xposed?) but I'm still unable to flash the update to 4.4.1
suggestions? is there a way to flash a new boot.img? I'm a relative beginner.. I'm unable to track down a link that has a stock boot.img, I'm not sure if this is part of the factory image but I'm assuming not if I'm still having this issue..
thank you for any input!

Is Bricked the only kernel you've used? Or did you try Franco as well? Francos modifies a few files that need to be fixed before you can flash the update - even if you flashed a stock boot.img.
If you haven't, try the stock boot.img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701

i have the same problem, does flashing these files affect any of my data or configuration?
cannot update rooted nexus?
so in short can we say we just cannot update to 4.4.1 without reverting back to and losing all app data ?
Guys,
Please help me out here. I rooted my Nex5 because I could not stand the DPI (icons/text were ridiculously big)
Because an app I use a lot cannot function on a rooted phone, I unrooted my phone.
I guess this means the following: my bootloader is NOT stock (because I see the 'unlock' icon), I am NOT rooted and my OS is stock.
In the end I just want to get 4.4.1 the easiest way and of course still have my DPI still modified.
Thanks in advance!!!

[Q] Having trouble flashing roms to my M8

I unlocked the bootloader, did s-off and rooted through weaksauce. However when I try to install a zip file from my SD card in the bootloader, it always ends up aborting the installation, I tried clearing the cache and even wiping all the data but it still doesn't install. I tried two different roms and I get the same problems which makes me think that I am missing something with the phone. Does anyone have any idea what the holdup may be?

Take a look in this section at the thread I started. See if you can flash Skyfall or any AOSP ROM I'm able to flash those fine but all of the GPE ROMS and a couple others will not flash for me either. All AOSP and AOKP stuff flashes fine. Skyfall and ViperOne will flash for me. I dont know what the hell is going on.

You know what? I'll bet that's whats happening to me. I have a thread in this section with the same deal. Mine has been Rooted and UL/S-Off for a while now but during the rooting, UL/s-off process (Introductions and videos) not once was this ever mentioned. I lost root on an install of Nu Sense today but the entire install was wonky so I just thought it was that. Where can I find this SuperSU zip and how do I get rid of weaksauce? I used Firewater and weaksauce on mine. Or are you saying that once you flash the zip it takes over what weaksauce was doing?
I wonder why so many ROMs flashed properly for months now and it's just recently with these GPE Roms I'm seeing all this trouble.

Well, I found it and flashed it so I guess we'll see if that was the problem. Got it off of Chainfires site.

Yeah, get rid of weak sauce app and flash SuperSU zip. Let me know if that fixes your problem. That would be an easy fix!

Hmm.. That's true. So you can't even flash clean rom? Can you get anything flashed? Maybe try and fastboot flash twrp again. Or a different version of twrp than you have now?

It's weird. I have Nu Sense up and running but Ive lost Root again just as I did earlier today but everything that doesnt need Root is working. When this happens I never get an "Install complete" it just hangs on Trimming system files then eventually shuts off. I cant seem to get the binaries installed for SuperSU either.

You can just use the 4.4.3 ruu and do the OTA, then your firmware is done all in 1 shot
can someone upload a 4.4.4 system dump? or point me to one if someone has already? thanks!
I have looked around and found all kinds of different answers so can someone here help me out a bit?
I got the phone when it first came out, have S-OFF, root, TWRP custom recovery but have version 4.4.2 still installed with everything being left pretty much stock. I would prefer to keep things pretty much stock so what would I need to do to update to 4.4.4? Do I need to get 4.4.3 first? Do I need to flash stock recovery first before doing anything? Anything with firmware or radios?

well, this is my idea for you
1. Flash the stock 4.4.2 recovery over the TWRP, then just do the OTA's

Reasonable enough, sorry if this is another dumb question but I havent been paying much attention to these boards since I rooted, I see that recent phones require Sunshine to root, is that because of the firewater method being patched via a software update (4.4.3?) or some other manufacturer change that I shouldnt be concerned with if the old root method already works for me?

I already updated... I was just saying for safe keeping just in case I get in some unforseen trouble.
Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159 and just flash the 4.4.3 with not boot img. YOu dont need to flash the recovery to accept ota's. YOu can just flash this and you will get the updated radios and h boot.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159
Downloaded OTA and updated, they added file manager and flashlight back ~!

nope, if your already SOFF, you will stay SOFF. might break your root, but all you need to do is reinstall supersu when you put twrp back on

Nexus 5 with "TeamWin" failed update - and won't start again

Hello everyone.
Two hours ago I received the notification about the Android 5.0 update. I downloaded it and hit "Install". Then, "TeamWin" started, but not the update. I rebooted into System and tried to update again - but it tells me that 4.4.4 is the latest version I can get now. I'm on Build KTU84P now.
1) Do I need to remove TeamWin? If yes, with what?
2) How can I start the update again? I'm on a super slow connection and it would hurt to download the 500 MB again…
Thank you!

You need to remove TeamWin, and load up your stock recovery. I don't have the exact instructions for this unfortunately.
The OTA update will come back to your phone soon, usually. Did for me within the hour.
The issue I am having now, back with stock recovery, is during the install I am getting a dead Android error icon, and can't continue. Looking for any help I can, and hopefully it will help you too.

Maybe we need http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/stock-checker-zip-prepare-ota-t2927865?
Gosh, this used to be so easy all the time.
if you are using twrp, why the heck are you trying to install the ota? why not download(from xda) and flash a recovery flashable stock or aosp build, and make life much easier for yourself? heck, i dirty flashed from 444 to 5.0 via an aosp flashable zip without any issues, and kept all my data.

I've read http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-android-4-4-3-ktu84m-rooted-busybox-t2557523 and it clearly states
-Do a factory reset (maybe you can keep data coming from STOCK 4.4.4 - maybe)

And I didn't want to count on a maybe.
I'm using stock recovery, rooted as per normal, and a custom kernal. OTA is giving an Android dead error, with no text. Trying to figure out how to diagnose this.

it wont flash over a rooted rom anymore as of lollipop. you can flash the factory img via fastboot though, in your bootloader.

Trying to remove the root right now via SuperSU. I am hopeful it will work better afterwards.
Edit: SuperSU unrooted it, rebooted, did OTA again, error again. Is there no way to find out what this error is?
