Okay first i want to say this: im sorry if im posting in the wrong part of the forums about this if someone could move it to the right part that would be great!
Help: Okay so resently I have attempted to root my Samsung galaxy player (Looks like this: Link coming soon due to the forum spam blocker) (Model: YP-GI1CB/XAA) and i used a post by "zebluk" (again link coming soon) and i need some help, the samsung now will not boot it stops at a black screen that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." is there any way to fix this? Also, it will not connect to my laptop via USB what so ever. so basicaly in most simple terms, I was stupid and got the Samsung bricked, and i need help un-bricking it.

Hi!
So, first thing is getting Odin to see your device. I found this, for getting into download mode..
1) device off, unplug USB, pull out/reseat battery to try to clear possible bugginess in firmware.
2) home + volume down + power (press in order and hold). Takes about 3 seconds. Displays the following.
Unless you can get your PC to see the device, there's nothing you can do. Try installing the drivers again on the PC.
This is the thread you said you used...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1884071
You need to be absolutely sure you are downloading the proper firmware for your device. Very sure.
All you can do is try it again...as outlined in the above thread.
If all that fails, ask your question here.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-player/help
That will get people who know your device best involved and get your post count up so you can post links and post in the development threads.
Good luck! ?

You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the Samsung drivers. And again...in download mode...see if Odin sees it. Also check device manager in windows. Look for a "!" And see if it is there and what its called.
And again, try asking in the question and answer thread I posted above. The members in that area know your device best. They're going to be your best resource here.

Hi! I've been reminded by a colleague that odin won't see your phone when kies is installed. Try uninstalling it and using Odin.
Actually, I'm pretty sure Kies just needs to NOT be running. Shut it it down and try. If not, then try uninstalling kies.
Just a tip.

Just kill Kies in task manager there will 2 software running at background which are kies driven just kill it in Task Manager and you are good to go...
 @KJ its Correct... :good:

HELP! i think i bricked my new galasy s 2

i just bought the tmobile galaxy s 2 and was trying to root it. obviously i did something wrong and now its stuck on a black screen. and when i plug it into the usb it looks for driver QHSYSB_DLOAD. ive tried everything someone please help
I think all you really need to do is just download Kies for the drivers your looking for. I did a similar thing on my droid 2 and I've found that pushing from your computer to your device works well.
I can't post any links on my first post so I can't give you a direct link.
Just google "download kies samsung galaxy s2" and the link for DKSZone should be one of the first.
Also, next time you attempt to root the phone, make sure you have done all the latest firmware updates.
my computer wont recognize my phone. and i cant put it into recovery. i cant do anything with it
Can you put it into the stock bootloader?
nope its just a black screen. ive tried removing the battery, putting it back in, holding both arrow keys and plugging in my usb. still just a black screen. everytime i plug in the usb it says installing driver QHSYSB_DLOAD. then it fails and says "device driver was not successfully installed"
i will PAY someone if they can fix my phone
Ok, this is of no immediate help on your problem, but did you try asking help in the Galaxy S II section ?
Some people rarely check the general Android section and prefer to stick to their device's section.

oh dang i didnt even know there was a galaxy s II section, thank you for that i will repost there

[Q] Can anyone help unbrick my phone...

I tried running Odin to unbrick back into recovery, but apparently didn't have the drivers installed (to my surprise). I hate to say it but I think I've reached the point of no return...any help would be very much appreciated.
Edit: I can't even get into dl mode and I don't have the samsung logo on the screen anymore...just a phone and computer logo.
May be you are not in dowload mode correctly.
For download mode:
1. remove battery
2. connect phone to computer
3. put battery
4. press volume up and down buttons only (no power button)
Try these steps, hope its helpful.
As far as the driver issue is concerned, downloading "Kies" is the easiest way. The phone doesn't actually work with the software, but the process of installing it will take care of any driver issues.
Search Kies in google to grab the download.
Try one click unbrick ^^ it work on mine

That's the thing...odin would be a breeze, but I just can't get the right drivers for odin to id it...so I guess my solution would be to get kies to id my phone so I could dl the drivers and run odin, right? Easier said than done I suppose...
Thanks for the feedback guys, I really do appreciate it...
Don't plug in your phone at all. Open up Kies/Kies Mini or whatever you have, and under the options it should have an option to install drivers. Once they are done, close kies, reboot your computer, open up Odin with whatever you are flashing, and then plug your phone into download mode.

No, the program itself can install them without the phone, at least kies mini will. Or you can just download the driver from here:
32 bit drivers: http://www.mediafire.com/?0b45zo7o75rc5d5
64 bit drivers: http://www.mediafire.com/?3dh4d6up72me9re
It said I successfully dl'ed the drivers, yet nothing has changed...used kies mini, restarted my comp, and tried to sync, but it still can't recognize the phone...hate to admit it, but I think I've exhausted just about every solution I could find or think of :/
get rid of kies. it's a useless program. also if it's open odin might not work, even if it's open in the background like in the system tray.
the drivers are in the most logical place you could think of. on the samsung website under device support.
http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...445/SGH-i997_Infuse4G_USB_Drivers_5_2_0_2.zip
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/at-t/SGH-I997ZKAATT
use the samsung cable if possible, others should work but on the older moment/intercept style phones a specific cable seems to be required. it couldn't hurt to make sure you have the correct cable.
even if you have the phone + computer screen it doesnt automatically mean you are in download mode. you may still need to do the download mode proceedure from battery pull (to make 100% sure the phone is off before you start the proceedure)
the best way is to
1 open odin
2 pull battery
3 connect the cable
4 phone should be face down
5 hold the volume buttons at the same time
6 with volume buttons depressed slide the battery into place
now you may see dwnload or you may see phone + computer or you may even see a black screen but there is a good chance that if the drivers worked that you will see a yellow box in odin
good luck

Get UnBrickable mod. That works well. I use it whenever I put my device into download mode. Just send me a pm and ill do it for $30+shipping. UBM lets you upload download mode to a device regardless of its state. I spent alot of time researching the methods and I came up with the mod for this device not too long ago.
UBM is the best option. Here is a demo on a captivate. We rewrote the HIBL for compatibility with the infuse4g
Thanks for all the help guys, but absolutely nothing I tried was working and I was short on time and patience...so you gave in to the JTAG unbrick service. I couldn't stand to pay for a service that I was sure I could perform myself, but when it got down to it, I didn't have time to deal with I all. I can confirm that it is a legit service. Great communication and Josh does quick work of getting things working again...I'm a firm supporter of DIY, but if you do reach the point of no return like I did, it's a very reliable resource.

I have a suggestion. I also had this issue. The problem was my main PC. I simply used my old laptop and it worked like a dream. I know thus seems too simple but it has worked for several people.

Actually this site is for learning about all things android. Not holding peoples hands that screw there phones. There is a ton of info on this site to help you. Think of it like going to the library. Sometimes the librarians busy and you have to find things for yourself. Look for the search feature and start using it.

Follow this to return your phone back to stock:
[Heimdall][One-Click] The T959V Heimdall One-Click Collection [05/20/2012]
In order to get into Download Mode, hold Vol-Up and Vol-Down while inserting the USB cord that is already plugged into your computer.
Then just click "flash", then when it's done, go back into download mode, check "flash bootloaders" on the computer, then click flash again.
You should be back to factory stock now.

Hmm...I've never seen that before. I'd ask someone with a little more experience than me.
So, instead of PM'ing me, lets keep the discussion here.
I would have chimed in, but I don't know crap about windows.
Sounds to me like a windows driver issue. If you plug your phone in and see something new in device manager, uninstall the drivers for that device. Rinse - wash - repeat, until you get "Unknown Device".
Then make sure you have the visual c++ redistributable (mentioned in the OP of the oneclick thread).
Then run the heimdall oneclick. It will ask to install the drivers. You may need to reboot the computer after installing the drivers for them to work properly.
If you still have problems, hopefully one of the windows nerds around here can help.
wow... ur saying this ir rare stuff.
man what have i done to my phone, maybe it is just a windows problem -_-

Skyrocket JB Help

Hi, I've been looking to root/change the rom on my Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket for a while, but everytime I come onto the dev forums here for a guide to do it, I seem to get stuck in a circle.
I tried ODIN, and all the troubleshooting, but it doesn't work for me.
I went to the ODIN-less methods, but it seems that I already need to have CMW....on there?
I am quite confused, so I downloaded the file linked here: http://d-h.st/40A (cwm6011touch_INSTALL.zip)
..Then i tried to 'apply update from sdcard' with that file from recovery mode in my phone...and i get: 'E: signature verification failed'.
My issue is that the documents are pretty confusing to me, they seem circular. The ones i've been looking at are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773659
Can anyone explain what I have to do to be able to apply this(aokp jb) to my phone?

The screen of what? The computer? Well, ODIN shows nothing, as in no change from when the phone wasn't in DL mode. And the screen of my phone says: ODIN MODE, blah blah....then it has the Android bot and DOWNLOAD MODE with a warning.

Gah...darn it. Okay...well I just downloaded Kies to check for the driver issues in a different way, but here's everything i've done in the troubleshooting guide:
If Odin Shows An md5 Error: Unzip The Firmware Tar File Again And/Or Redownload The File Again
If The Phone Boots Into Any Rom, Make Sure Windows Can Transfer From And To Internal And External Sdcards To Rule Out Driver Issues
Does Kies Recognize Your Phone, Even If You Are On A Custom Rom Kies Will Recognize Your Phone, This Rules Out Driver Issues
Make Sure You Are In Download Mode On Your Phone
Make Sure Adb Or Kies Is Not Runnung In The Background
Restart Computer
Make Sure Battery Is Charged
Try Different Usb Port, Preferably The Rear Ones On Computer
Use Original Samsung Usb Cable, Or Try Different Cable But Still Oem
Uninstall drivers and kies, unplug phone & reboot comp, then just reinstall the USB Drivers from here
Try A Different Computer
Clean Phones Usb Port W/no Battery Installed
If You Tried All Of Above Tests And Phone Is Not Recognized By Your Computer You Then Have A Hardware Problem With The Phones Usb Port, Repair.
not an issue: If Phone Boot Loops Or Enters Into Recovery Mode While Trying To Get Into Download Mode(and you are sure you followed above procedure and also did not touch the power button), You Could Have A Stuck Power Button. To Fix That Try To Repeatedly Keep Pushing The Power Button Hard To Try To Unstick It.

Yes, I can transfer from and to both phone and SD. What do you mean by when I'm booted into android? I usually try something on the ts guide, and then try Odin...then I boot my phone into dl mode. Whenever Im trying to see if the phone is being detected its in Android is. Otherwise I turn it off.
I dunno.. if you are doing everything in the troubleshooting guide.. it should work.
There is no hardware OR software reason from what you have described that would prevent it from working.
The only other thing I can think of is the Odin version...
Well somethings not right, either your on the first screen in DL mode the one with yellow triangle and then u hit the volume up button to get into the second screen for DL mode(Odin mode), did u follow the guide in getting into DL mode.
Make sure kies (anything with word kies) is not running in the background in windows.
does kies recognize your phone

Can anyone explain what I have to do to be able to apply this(aokp jb) to my phone?

Alright, I did the driver thing again. (uninstalled Kies AND driver, then reinstalled driver) Then I tried it again, and ODIN worked! So, right now I'm waiting for the AOKP JB rom to finish loading up.
Thanks for the help.

make sure you have the CWM touch version. The non-touch version didn't work for me.

You MUST have a NATIVE Skyrocket recovery for the JB roms... Update the one that Odin loaded to one of these:

Stuck With Boot Screen

I have Samsung Galaxt Tab 2 7". Yesterday to install custom firmware, I flashed some wrong recovery on it.
Now, when I turn it on it is stuck on Samsung Initial boot logo and stays there as long as possible.
If I turn it off and bring it to download mode (Press and Hold Power and Down Volume Key), it comes into download more but when connected to PC, it says USB Device Not Recognized.
I tried charging my Tab whole night, it became warm and till morning it was warm only. Now I am completely stuck and don't know what to do.
Is there any solution for this? Is there any button combination which can take the tab at-least to stock android?
Since USB is not been recognized, so I am helpless to do anything here.

Hm, Odin needs Samsung USB Drivers to be able to recognize device, did you already install them?
If not, you can download it here.
(If you're using Windows 8, tell me, because you will need some special method to install the drivers.)

I bet you tried to run the .exe file and the installation didn't even start, no? xD
Follow installation method 3 explained in this thread.
If you can't do it, let me know and I can help you!
I'm not pretty good with English too... I know only basic skills, but I bet I can't go to English-speaking countries with them

Hm, that was totally unexpected.
I hope I'm wrong, but it sounds like your board got damaged. But if the board was damaged, it won't ever turn on. So my mind is a bit twisted here.
I will try to look for solutions. For now, you're stuck with a paperweight :s

Sorry, I must have missed this post. I don't know if a VM will work or not. I think the problem is windows 8 as there have been lots of problems reported with Odin and Heimdall (probably the drivers) on windows 8.

EDIT: I have a thread in the general section for the tab 2 on rooting in Linux. Do everything up until flashing SuperSU. That thread has the instructions on how to install recovery. Still do it with no reboot checked and manually boot into recovery and wipe cache and Dalvik cache. Hope this helps!
EDIT 2: Here is the link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2828080
