Saving Post Numbers - General Questions and Answers

When Going through a forum and I come across a post that has a number on the far left on the header bar. When I click on that number It takes me right back to the post.. What I'm wondering is there a way that there is a way to save that post number some how so I can go back to it later on. Like is there a way I can keep a list on the site somewhere. I just wanted to know if it was possible somehow. I hope I explained it well
Thanks

Where does "Device Information" get it's info from?

Sorry for starting a new thread, but didn't want to pollute the leaked AT&T 3.14 thread by going off-topic. I've been playing around with that ROM for the past day and a half to remove the AT&T, erm..., customisations (BLOAT!!!) and I've obviously deleted something along the way that I shouldn't have.
When I go into Start > Settings > Device Information on my phone, it opens the right application but with no info in the box, and the screen just displays the "wait" circle. I can move between the tabs, but each one is blank and the wait symbol stays until I close the app, then the phone's fine again.
I know the ROM version comes from the OEM/OEMVERSION/mxipupdate_OEMVERSION_100.provxml file (which is fine) but does anyone know where the rest of the info comes from so I can try to trace the file I've obviously deleted?
Thanks, and sorry for being an idiot who doesn't want to lose several hours of playing by starting again from scratch!
sounds like you have deleted htcutil.dll
heh. the last build of my rom that i cooked, i "misplaced' the whole Device Information icon and link

Thanks Sakajati, that's exactly what I did! I've grabbed a copy, dropped it straight into my /Windows folder and it's started working again.
This just leaves two questions - just how much of a genius are you to have spotted that from my vague description, and just how late at night was it when I deleted that file!!
Thanks again.

how to remove titles of apps?

im not sure if it is available to do yet but i am currently running 2.1 Eclair Hero Rom (Eugene373)
as currently with any ROM for example browser icon would show the 'browser' title. is there anyway that we can removing titling for the application shortcuts on the homescreen without using different UI (home replacements)?

I don't know if you can ... I know that when developing the app for example in eclipse, that is the first thing you do. you set the title of the app.
You like many other people are still posting these questions in development. I kindly ask if you can please read the first post in development. It explains where this post should be posted.
have a good day!
I don't know the answer I'm afraid but this would be better placed in the developers thread or even in Q&A.
Please take the time to read the stickied threads on the forum, the last one in particular.
Hope you find what your looking for.

Both me and Rooktard said we did not know the answer and was merely trying to move him to the appropriate place to post.
If people didn't understand where to post then we would never be able to find any roms or mods due to the amount of junk being posted anywhere. That is why the site managers wwent to the trouble of providing a structured format for each differing section.
The only true way to help them is by steering them onto the correct path making it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

True. Not a problem at all.
---Begin generalities talk---
Its just that this place is getting kinda miserable with all the "WRONG FORUM" replies. It's just a simple mistake, it doesn't need to be repeated by several people in the same thread.

Well the repeat was due to both repling at the same time as this is not live I cannot see what's replied to whilst I type.
And we had a thread last night that got silly because rather than help I posted something that got some upset.
Seems being nice gets you the same amount of people unhappy as just being straight to the point.
Guess we just can't win with some .....
oohhh! i am very sorry i totally forgot to put it in the right section.
thanks for help also, ill be happy with what i have but it seems it could be a possibility at some time.

any moderator able to transfer it to Q&A G1?
thanks for the answers xda's
I have a question but I'm to lazy to think or search.....ill make a new thread in dev section n mu question is Have u seen my brain?
Here are a couple of things to try, not sure if any or all will work or not.
1. Use Bettercut or Anycut, choose edit an existing, then for your first icon that you want to remove the name for, replace it with one space (hit the spacebar once). For the second one, replace the name with two spaces. For the third, three spaces. And so on. I'm almost positive this one will work.
2. If #1 doesn't work, I'm not sure whether or not the homescreen recognizes HTML code or not. If it does, instead of using spaces, type the following instead of a space. You'll need to do this for each space you are trying to type (and do not type the quotation marks): " "
3. If #1 and #2 don't work, then hold down ALT and press the spacebar once. That should create a ANSI space. You'll want to do that for each space you're wanting to create.
Since I believe each icon on the homescreen has to have a different name (Don't have my phone right now to test it), that's why you'll need a different number of spaces for each name. In other words, the 1st icon would need 1 space, the 2nd icon would need 2 spaces, the 3rd icon would need four spaces, etc. That may not be entirely necessary, but it won't hurt anything either.
Please let me know which, if any, of these tricks work.
Wish I could test this and give you the exact answer. But I believe the first example works. Grab Anycut off the Market and give it a try.

+1. I was going to suggest the same thing.

I used betterCut and I used one space for a shortcut. Well... It works if you don't mind that text background still there. So its not really great.

I know you asked this years ago but if you're still around did you ever get this resolved? It's driving me bonkers.

I don't know how you can tell a post is read. Posts are not like emails, where you have to open them to read them. I think the closest you can get is thread level.
I set my preference to show newest post first and then subscribe to the thread requesting notification. That way i get a notice i can follow right to the latest post in the thread, or i can go to the latest post when i open that thread.
That may be as close as you're going to be able to get.
To set preferences, if you go to "Control Panel" under your user name (top right), click on "Edit Options" on the left side and roll down to "Thread Display Options" you can select how you want threads displayed. You can go here to see what the choices mean.
Not having the latest post first isn't too bad on the desktop on a 30" monitor, where it bothers me is in the XDA app and these settings keep the current posts first. That wasn't working for me on the settings in the app.

Thanks a million. Unfortunately I've done this is 3 different browsers and it still takes me to the first post instead of the last or "newest" so It's very frustrating. I am on a 27" iMac and even get the same thing in windows so it's got to be something with my account but my subscriptions are set to newest first and I even reset browsers and changed the theme of XDA and it's STILL not working. What's ironic is that the XDA and Tapatalk apps work perfect for me whereas you stated they don't for you so we have just the opposite issues. Lol. It's driving me mad lol
Thanks for the reply. I'm going to create a new account as a test and see if that does anything. I'll report back. +1

Searching for App to customize Homescreen Folders..

..and I will attach a photo that shows what I am looking for as far as the "folders" which are on the left side of the screen. These to me look so much neater than my apps strewn all over the homescreen.
Can someone direct me to an app from Google Playstore that might do the job (or a widget maybe?) or freeware to make my own? This was post so long ago I don't know if this fellow is still around, or if the apps are still available. Maybe he custom designed them and you can't find them in a package.
Anyway, thank you in advance, and let me know if there is a better place to post this sort of question I'm still very new here so apologies if I've come to the wrong board. (please see picture below):
