Is this possible yet? I'm running CWM. Can I just drop the zip in my sd and flash as usual?
Thanks.

OK so I restored a stock backup I had to see if i would get OTA jb update. And I noticed it was trying to download. My question is...will it let me download and install? And if so will I lose root? If i do lose root can I re-root? Thanks for any help.

You need to make sure you flashed a completely stock image and then the OTA update will come. The stock ROM is not rooted, but yes you can re-root. There is a thread in the NS4G section where a dev is already working on the stock rooted ROM. check it out

hello, i just bought a new TF700T and wanted to root it.
From what i've read you need to downgrade since the old root method does not work on JB.
I wanted to ask what the progress on the JB root method is?
I tried flashing superUser using CWM but get installation aborted (device is un locked)
hints are welcome
thanks

flashing su .zip should be good. I don't think there is anyone working on rooting stock jb since there are workarounds.

Have you thought about flashing a rooted ROM? CleanROM ULE is based on stock JB and is already rooted. It's extremely stripped down version from what Asus provides.

I'm not sure about flashing a rooted rom directly
either try the link i posted earlier or try flashing su from here http://androidsu.com/superuser/.
i assume you have the latest jb compatible recovery installed?
scrossler has a stock rooted rom posted in dev. just download and flash in recovery if you want to try that.
I am trying to get to kitkat on this damn phone and it just keeps bricking.
Does anyone know if i need to go through all the updates to get this to work?
maybe if you have a step by step that would be amazing.
Thank you
I assume you have a custom recovery installed, just make sure your recovery manager is up to date as some older versions of CWM will not flash 4.4 and same with TWRP. I used CWM touch v6.0.4.3.

Nope cannot update to cm10.2.0 RC1
installation aborted.
There must be an order in which you have to apply updates.
Anyone have any clue on what that order is?

There is no such order. As long as your bootloader is unlocked and you are running an updated recovery you should be able to flash seamlessly between any ROM.
What 4.0.4 ROM are you currently running? And are you sure you're on the most recent CWM?
I think your firmware must be up to date as well. I can't remember what the latest is off the top of my head. I'll check.

VRBMF1 is the firmware you should be on.
Check that in the "about phone" section.

Without a PC you can only root, install CR and install ROMs and what not. There aren't any flashable stock IMGs

Depends on what Google decides to make the update script check.

If someone decides to zip it, yes.
I tried to upload the recovery but it's larger than the site limit and I don't have a place to host.
Yeah sorry just wanted to be sure thats all kinda gone rusty with android lately its 1st time ive rooted in a long wile becsuse newer phones now dont really need to be rooted because of the upto date hardware they use but i took the plunge and rooted my nexus 5 all is well but im in 2 minds on going back to stock
Hello everyone,
I've been using CyanPop (Marshmallow 6.0) for the last week, and while it's an awesome ROM with no major flaws whatsoever I'd like to downgrade to Lollipop.
Is there some guide on how to do it? I've searched here, on Google and on Reddit but all the results are about downgrading from Lollipop to KitKat, and I don't know if it's safe to do the same things.
Thanks in advance!
I did it yesterday ,wiped everything using twrp copied 5.1 ROM using PC and installed it
Is it that easy? I was expecting something like that guide in the General forum where you need some Windows tools and so.
Well, I won't complain. Thanks!
Downgrading is only a concern when you downgrade stock firmware, not a custom ROM.
With custom ROM's you simply factory reset in recovery and flash the ROM.

u want to back where?? stock or custom??
for stock, search threat. there's a flashable untouched stock from lost101. download and flash through recovery.
and for custom 5.1.1 (cm/aosp/aospa) follow same way. just download zip and flash.
do u have recovery twrp/cwm installed?
I have twrp installed .
