[Q]carrier unlock - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I'm looking to find a way to carrier unlock my mothers droid ultra (Verizon) she's looking to switch to straight talk is there a way for me to do it without paying a company to send me the unlock code? If not does anyone have experience with going from vzw to st with an non unlocked device?

afaik, its already unlocked and I have seen here saying its working on T-Mob Nano SIM without an issue (2G and reframed 3G, but NO LTE). But I am NOT from US, so some other members can be more accurate than me...

Hey.. I was using mine on straight talk. Now I'm using it with cricket and still works fine. I get H+ most of the time but sometimes and in certain places I get LTE.
No unlock code needed. And I have the latest update. Not rooted or anything. 100% stock.

At&t uses different radio bands for 3g/4g. You will only be able to access the edge network.
So what do u think using the infuse in tmobile? Is it better to just get the phone thats locked to its own carrier.or the sim unlock phone?

Your going to have really slow data. That's the only difference. It will still work just fine just take for ever to use the net and things like that since it will only be on edge. I'd just suggest sticking with a carrier specific phone if your worried about data speeds.
Wat phone from at&t will fully work for tmobile 3g/4g data...

Likely none - I have yet to see an AT&T phone that supported the AWS 3G band that T-Mobile uses.

I called AT&T. Then I told them I wanted the subsidy unlock code for my phone. They told me no at first. Then I explained I travel a lot. They asked a few questions like: did you pay full price for the phone; do you travel overseas a lot, etc. I said I needed it unlocked when I travel overseas. Three days later I had the unlock code for free. I think it all depends on who you talk to at AT&T, and if you have a plan with some international features I guess.

So is there no way to unlock a i727 manually without purchasing a code?
There's got to be a way guys...anyone..?
Where do all these website get these codes to sell from?
ATT will provide you with an unlock code free like the previous posts, I think there's an amount of time you have to wait though. Not sure if its based on how long you've been a customer or how long you've had the phone.
Give them a call or get a hold of a live chat rep on their website, that's where I received my unlock code for my Xperia Play before I sold it.

AT&T One X & MVNOs

I'm thinking of canceling my account with AT&T and using straight talk or a different MVNO but I have a few questions.
Will I still get AT&T updates? If not, will using straight talk prevent me from using any AT&T based roms or mods?
Will I lose LTE support? I don't have LTE in my area yet but it's supposed to be here in 2013.
Is anyone using a MVNO with their AT&T One X? If so, how's everything working? What's the best one to use?
I'll probably lose my warranty through AT&T but will HTC still cover the phone?

Anyone?

1) I don't think you'll get OTA updates, but I could be wrong. And obviously you can use AT&T roms, they're built for the phone.
2) Obviously, unless the MNVO you are changing to is allowed to use LTE, which is unlikely.
3) Using T-Mobile so don't know.
4) Yes they will.

No AT&T update, but you'll be able to use it with any ROM (as long as it doesn't require a SIM unlock, which you will have to do yourself).
You will get LTE support if the MVNO is an AT&T reseller and has LTE in your area. Though, afaik, there isn't any MVNO that offers LTE, maybe HSPA+. You can try Straighttalk or H2OWireless.
If you've been paying monthly for AT&T mobile warranty, then yes you will lose that, but HTC will still cover the phone for the limited period.

Did you unlock it?
SIM/carrier unlock should be different from bootloader unlock?
Do we have a way of getting this phones unlock code - or does this not apply to this device?
..CDMA device. Regardless if unlocked for another SP will not work on a GSM locked network in the US. GSM networks system will not recognize the CDMA IMEI.

Sprint to T-Mobile Nexus question

So here's the situation. I plan on activating on Sprint. Then waiting until my contract expires and then heading to T-Mobile. Anyone know of any issues I might run into. I would think it would be as simple as a SIM card swap.

The only thing that you might have to do is manually enter the T-Mobile APN. Probably not though, I have a Sprint N5 and my APN's were set automatically when I put in my T-mobile Sim.

Simple as a SIM swap. I bought a Sprint nexus 5 and am running it on straight talk with no issues. Just needed a reboot. You might have to add the correct APN settings for your carrier. But that is pretty straight forward.
Ok thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure. Didn't want to accidentally lock it to Sprint somehow.
