Hi Everyone,
I have searched all over the internet and have been unable to find an answer to this question. Has anyone been able to root a Galaxy Note 3 on Ubuntu. If you have done it or know someone who has, please let me know.
Thanks

You may want to try running xp in virtual box. Had some issues yesterday with mine. Windows 7 and 8 Odin failed. With xp it worked. Currently running Linux mint 16.

I tried to use heimdall and had problems using it with the note 3. There are not any guides to do this or any that I can find. Where you able to root your note 3 with hiemdall?
I may try using virtualbox with xp like Danon suggested.
Thanks Guys

Considering I'm completely new to this I dont know what you are asking or if this root/unlock situation will be a bust. From what I gather from this site it seems pretty easy. I know that I am running the stock os on my phone though. Ive downloaded busybox and Samsung Galaxy unlock as well. Are they good apps? Also do I need any drivers? Where do I look in the info you sent me for the link (sorry if it seems like I'm asking dumb questions)

All you have to do my friend is refer to the bible in the dev section.

That's all you need to know. Once you finish reading the bible, you'll be able to do all that stuff blindfolded.
If you have trouble with your drivers you can download Kies Mini off of Samsungs site and Kies will install the right drivers for your phone.

So i have a SGS4G running froyo.vuvkd1 2.2.1 and i have rooted the phone with superoneclick. would i be able to put the valhalla rom on the phone with the cwm or would i have to upgrade with kies mini to GB 2.3.+ and then get rooted again to get cwm and upload rom? please comment back

If you follow the link above you will find it to be the clearest tutorial to accomplish your task. It has all the files you would need except the actual ROM you want.

Have you used search tool to try to find a clear answer?
Click on Samsung Galaxy S 4G above, look for Search This Forum right above the brown bar. That might help you find what you are looking for.

Right at the top in the General forum is the thread called [GUIDE] Complete Tutorial for the Beginners and Others
That's a good place to start, but you need to search and read still.
i think u have problem understanding me. i am saying that i want a guide that is for windows 8 specifically. since all the guides are for windows 7 and drivers are not supported in windows 8 yet.

I am not having a problem understanding you at all. I am running Windows 8 as well. The information is in there, but we do not hang around here to help out people who are too lazy to search.
I typed "Windows 8" into the search box, on the first page found [Q] HTC Desire S and Windows 8, the 4th post (by .BlAcK.) included a link to Install htc one x drivers on Windows 8 which looks to be what you need. Took me about two minutes.
Although, from what I remember last time I did this on my Win 8 machine, I didn't need to do anything other than run ADB.

I've googled and searched for you,
but this looks like a best option for what I gathered so far.
Install win 7 on mac using virtual box and probably go from there.

Its annoying as hell doing it through virtual box because you have to virtualize the usb ports as well

My problem is that i have the HP Slate 7 2800 and I tried to install a file that wasnt compatible and it softbricked (cant enter download mode and no cmw or custom recover, only stock) I just want to get the stock rom back I dont care about deleting files. Ive already tried a few ways but i seriously need help now. If someone would just leave me instruction and links to required files that would be great. Thanks and fast answer please.
Oh and btw if u cant answer this just if u would help me to get root or cmw with this softrick
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. You probably need to return your device to stock. Unfortunately there is very little information on XDA about your device. You can check on your manufactures web site or asking here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
