[Question] How to have slideshow of .jpg and video - MX Player

Sorry its a noob question ... I added .jpg to the format section hoping to get a video and picture slide show. But the pictures just show up for less then a second Is there any way to have such a "mixed" playback like Windows Mediaplayer or my Sony HX Cam does ??

I don't think MX Player can do that unfortunately, since the developer's focusing on video playback enhancements.

[REQ] Multimedia player for mixed photo/video?

I am looking for a multimedia player that can play a folder with mixed images and videos like a presentation.
I have downloaded all the player in the Android Market but all those just plays only video or only picture slideshow.
I would like to put some videos and some image in a folder and the player start playing videos and when the video ends if there is an image just show it in a slideshow.
Something like the Photo Frames that can plays all jpegs photos and video in sequence.
Any ideas?
Thanks

[Q] Video taken with phone on computer do not have sound

Hi all
Sorry if this question has already been answered but I could not find anything similar.
When taking videos in 1080p or 720p with slow motion off using either video codes h.264 or mp4 or audio codec as aac or amr-nb and copying the videos to the computer no sound is heard. On the phone itself the sound is perfect but not on the pc just silence, have tried couple of different video player.
Any ideas?
Please lock or delete the thread some random audio card problem, should have figured that out before.

4K Video Playback with HEVC - 10bit

Hello everyone,
I have a few questions regarding 4K videos. I tried playing a 4K H265 10bit video on the phone using the native Sony Video app and, although it did play, it was slow as heck. Does the phone support such videos natively (i.e. Hardware Accelarated playback)? Is it an issue of the app itself? Since almost all 4k content, with or with HDR/10bit, is in H265 are we limited to Youtube and Amazon for 4K playback? Do I have to transcode all my 4K Blu-Ray movies to H264 in order to play them? Are there any third party players (e.g. bsplayer) that can play 4k videos (and utilize the phone's 4k resolution, not just play them in 1080p). Thank you all for your time.
I downloaded a 4k test sample encoded in x265 and played it with MX player app with hardware acceleration.
Worked perfectly. Smooth as butter.

use mx player
Thanks a lot for your time. It seems that mx player does not use the phone's native 4K resolution though and displays a 1920x1080 image so there is no point in using it. My question is whether a video player app exists, besides Sony's native one, that is able to use the phone's 4K resolution, not just play 4K videos.

I think you can change the phones overall resolution to 4K for that purpose: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz-premium/themes/mod-change-default-resolution-to-4k-root-t3618843

Tried with Sony Xperia Video app and the 4K sample I downloaded runs the same as it runs in MX Player.

Kot5nik, in my opinion, changing the resolution that android runs is not the proper way to go. Since XZ Premium is a device that supports 4k/HDR i shouldn't have to resort to "adb" to watch a 4k video in another app. Plus, by doing that, battery drain increases a bit, phone dialer app does not work, app switching does not show thumbnails etc.

FartyParty, I stand corrected. You are absolutely right. I took screenshots of both MX and Sony apps and the look identical. Only one difference though. It seems that MX Player doest not utilize HDR. There is a noticeable difference in contrast. You can see the attachments if you want to.

Here is what i found from testing the device for 4K HDR videos
the device can and will play 4K H265 10bit and even HDR videos but there are things that need to be done to play perfectly
first you need to check for the containers to be mkv or mp4
second using sony app will not allow to play surround sound file like dts, ac3, AAC 5.1 or AAC 7.1
third which i think is very odd and stupid from sony is that how such a powerful device can't play mkv with AAC sound track no matter what stereo or surround.
The trick for this to use software where they can switch container without the need for converting the whole file from mkv to mp4.
Hi everyone,
I have to also agree with @Liltman and say that the MX Player does play video content in 4k however there is a very noticeable difference between the stock Sony album player and the MX player.
Sadly the Sony video player doesn't support truehd aac files so the video will play flawlessly without the sound :crying:
The MX Player on the other hand WILL play the sound but the quality of the video seems to take a small hit as it's not as vibrant as the Sony album player. This is because MX Player supports 4k but not HDR
I hope that Sony added codecs to make TrueHD sound files compatible with the Sony gallery player on Oreo but I am not very confident about that.
I would appreciate it if someone can find a way around this annoying issue. What software is @HYPER-RX referring to?
Thanks!
Try VLC guys. When I played an HDR video in VLC it tried to force my brightness to max like YouTube does. However, it had to ask for som system write permission to do it and it didnt work completely. See if VLC does a better job though I found it to be pretty good.
MX Player definitely does support HDR. You can tell because in HDR videos, if you try taking a screenshot, the screenshot will simply come out as black, whereas in SDR videos, you'll get a normal screenshot.

Hi I just tried VLC and you was spot on. I can see that it actually does support HDR however I'm still having audio issues with the sound. Especially the HEVC Atmos 7.1. Do I need to download a codec pack or something?
It's a shame because the video quality is incredible!
Working perfectly
I tried to play 4k hdr 60fps video using the sony video app. I had no issues with playing it. It was smooth no lags at all.
codec was hevc and bitrate was 75Mbps and audio was AAC.

Thanks was this on Oreo? And the sound file was it 5.1 or 7.1?

Bug report: Jerky video playback and subtitles not rendering properly in 1.8.21

New thread to make sure this doesn't get lost in replies to previous thread.
MX Player version 1.8.21 for x86 has problems with both video playback and subtitle rendering. Older version 1.7.40 did not have problems with the same files on the same hardware, so it's something in MX Player.
External codecs from xda-developers.com were in use.
In video playback, image "stutters" and is "jerky" instead of smooth. Subtitle rendering does not render all subtitles unless "subtitle speedup tricks" (sorry, don't remember the exact wording) is checked, but that seems to render subtitles to original video size then rescale for screen size, which causes fuzzy subtitles (not so bad for 720p video rescaled to 1080p, but 480p rescaled to 1080p is noticable).
Bug reports from both MX Player 1.7.40 and MX Player 1.8.21 are attached. All related files are available at mega.nz
Also, to illustrate the problem, I've taken video of the playback both under 1.7.40 and 1.8.21. This was done with an external handheld camera so the quality isn't very good, but it also does not put any burden on the system being tested, so it does not cause/exacerbate the issue.

MX Player And VP9 HDR

Hi there, I am using S10e. It supports HDR10+. I was trying to play a file (VP9 HDR WEBM container) that I downloaded from youtube. But strangely MX player is not picking up HDR. Does it support HDR in VP9 Codec? I tried both HW+ and SW Codecs but no success.
I tried playing the file via Samsung Video App but it showed an error probably due to either VP9 codec or Webm container.
Strangely I tried to play it via the Browser (Samsung Internet) via entering file:///sdcard/ and browsing to the file and it played in the Browser and also picked up the HDR (Brightness was automatically increased)
So can somebody help me with this?
UPDATE: I didn't mentioned that the video don't have any audio file and I had the audio file separately downloaded from youtube as you can't download HDR Videos and audio as a one file.
So I used the FFMPEG to mux them together in a Mkv Container and now video is played via Samsung Video Gallery with no error. It appears apparently lack of audio track resulted in error.
But HDR is not turning on even in Samsung Video Gallery. This suggests some deeper problem with VP9 HDR Playback. But then how Samsung Internet Browser was able to turn on HDR.
Anybody knows something on this?
So I searched about the VP9 Codec and it turns out it supports HDR via HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) instead of HDR10. So the question really trickles to "Does MX Player support HLG HDR Videos?"
I tried searching Google about this but couldn't find anything. So if somebody knows answer it please.
And also Samsung Video Gallery does pick HDR. I missed it as I was able to manually adjust brightness which irc, you cannot in HDR10 Videos but maybe this might not be the case with HLG Videos. And Colors do looks washed out in MX Player as compared to Samsung Video Gallery.
Oh god this is confusing. Apparently Video is HDR10 not HLG and VP9 do support HDR10 (or PQ, I don't know).
I was really hoping Video be HLG as it answered nearly all of questions but it is not.
So why isn't MX Player turning on HDR. And why is there Brightness control in Samsung Video App and why it is not showing HDR Logo???
Goddamnit!!

We apologise for the delayed response.
We would like to let you know that MX Player's HW / HW+ decoders make use of the hardware-accelerated decoders shipped with the device. So, the HDR support highly depends on the decoders in your device.
Could you enable the video enhancer on your device settings and try again on MX Player's HW and HW+ decoders? It may fix your problems.
No need to apologize.
I turned on the Video Enhancer and played the video but it didn't turned on the HDR.
Just now as I was about to reply, I played the video with HW encoder and surprisingly HDR was turned on. Video enhancer was off this time. But it is not turning on HDR with HW+ encoder. So something is not right there.
