[Q] Wifi issue with CM11 - HTC One S

Hi everyone, I'm new on XDA
I currently have a ville (S4) with the latest snapshot of CM11 (M6) and I'm experiencing some issues with wifi signal:
When i connect to my router wifi works flawlessly, but after some hours it drops and seems like it can't reach any signal, neither from other router (my neighbours). If i reboot it, than it starts to work again.
This happens on any CM I've tried (10.1, 10.2, 11 various) and also on Pacman Rom but not with stock or sense based ROMs.
Is there anyone who has ever had this kind of issue or better a solution? Any help would be very appreciated
HBoot: 2.15
TWRP 2.7
ROM: CM11 (M6)
Radio: 1.20 (the one that comes with 2.16 package seen on MaximusHD install package)
SuperCID
PS: Sorry for my bad English, I'm italian...

I've experienced the same thing and it seems to be a common problem on this device outside of stock,
wifi will be working fine but then randomly drop all of a sudden and won't show any networks until you restart the phone. It will do it again after a little while from the restart. I came across a solution to this after trying so many different things, give it a shot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2769977
Let me know if it works for you and/or if you need help.
Good luck

You might first want to try flashing a different radio, I've had nothing but bad luck with 1.20 on both sense and cm... random boot loops, gsm signal drops, etc...
Give this a read,
RADIO 1.35a.32.45.27, WCNSS, ADSP
Q. Why is this radio recommended?
A. This radio has been proved better then the 1.20 radio by some of the users of One S and enables HSPA in 4.3 Sense based Roms like liberty.

Thank you very muck! I've just falshed the 1.35a radio and all what comes with that and now it seems to have no issue at all [emoji2] I'll keep testing for some days and I'll post here my results.

Hello,
I am quite new here and don't have permission to post in development section, but this topic seems to fit.
I am running CM11 nightlies with good success (very few reboots) since February. With all nightlies since June 14, WiFi cannot be activated anymore.
Some other users seem to have the same problem, some don't. I usually do "dirty" flashes with CM Update, but clean flashes don't help.
I can't find information about greater WiFi changes in log files. Any ideas?
Greetings from Germany
Matthias

Found the answer. Had to reflash boot.img because my One S is S-On. Now WiFi works as usual.

Ok, after more than 20 days, I can say that the new radio (1.35a) posted by @nSavage works better with WiFi on my One S.
Again, thank you very much! [emoji2]

[Q] Lost Radio?

---------------------------------------------------------
Solved!!!
---------------------------------------------------------
I recently upgraded to CM9... and when I rebooted I could not see the blue signal bars. All I get is the bars and a tiny "x" in the corner...? What went wrong is this normal? Is it a known bug? I checked cm9 features list and bug list but no mention of it there... No APN's either... I have to reboot constantly to get a signal.
Logcat on request
Its a beta this could happen sometimes Are you running the newest radio?

Yes I flashed several radios including the newest one but there seems to be no difference... When it does get a signal it either freezes when I use 3g/4g or if I try to reboot or power off when it doesn't get a signal it shows blue bars for a second then shows the "x" and my phone freezes up and reboots.
CM9 has it's share of issues even for a beta imo
But, did you re-input your apn's
Otherwise, re-wipe all including System 2x. Re-download rom, check md5, reflash

When I see APN's it doesn't show anything and I can't add anything either...
Tried aokp, cm9, and stock as well... wiped everything (cache, data, system, dalvik) and it only works on stock htc for some reason... Checked md5 for all they all fit except for gapps-2012412.zip but that can't be the problem right?
I doubt if gapps is issue
Have you read and posted on CM9 thread
This is a CM9 bug
Did you try toggling Airplane Mode

I read cm9 development logs but it doesn't mention it there... I saw a similar post in aokp but it was not answered sooo... Oh and Airplane mode gets stuck. I have to reboot to get it to reset... Ahhh... well I guess its back to stock for me I'll wait until a beta comes out not alpha's
I have problems with the radio too don't know if it is a baseband or rom issue. And btw its even an alpha

did you rewipe, redownload, reflash new download
try Zydroid or LeeDroid, very good and stable
you will need twrp recovery if you don't want to fastboot boot.img separate for those roms

I use twrp and I rewiped and redownloaded cm9 but its still not working... and even worse is that it finds a signal for one second and in that time my email comes in ( I have lots of email...) and I hear a static noise... like tv static... and no its not my notification sound well thanks anyways... going to leedroid then.
i think you will like LeeDroid
redownload and reinstall gapps...it includes the stuff required to connect to google services, i.e. make your icon blue.

Worked Thank You!!! Now when it says please wait on First time setup it shows the bar and makes a beeping noise (connected sound, I guess).
Oh by the way, rugmankc, I really liked leedroid so I'm going to wait for a stable CM9, going back to leedroid I would recommend for anybody. No bugs at all as far as I can tell

[Solved] Sound call problem CM10 4,1,2 kernel 3

Oke
I'm using mod CM10 4..1.1 NK111 version 0810 kernel 2.6.35.14 without any problem for daily use, even 5MP photo's no problem.
But I'm trying to get a working CM10 4.1.2. with a kernel 3 on my DS
I've installed several ROMS from NK111, Flinny, BlindDump al with the same problem no sound during out going or in coming calls
I've flashed several hboots 0.98 eng, 2.00 eng, 7.00 no result. I've flashed several radio's 20.4801.30.0622U_3622.10.08.04,
20.71.30.0833U_38.31.17.00.16_M, 20.76.30.0835U_38.31.19.00.110 no result. All with and without the sound fix from BlindDump and
other solutions from members with the same problem, like the one to plug in en plug out the headphone and several reboots nothing works.
For testing the ROMS I do a clean install. I folow the treats on de development deparment about the problems from CM10 4.1.2 kernel 3,
I'm aware of the problems but my quention is: have I missed somthing to get the call sound working?

Tried the sound test solution in de kernel form Flinny with the flinny 119 and NK111 1018 ROMS no result!!
I too am having sound issues with these ROMs- as you would have noticed reading those threads.

I read that you have the same problem with the latest ROM versions.
I think that it is a small problem but we don't see the solution yet.
The use of different manufacturers for the production of the DS is an extra stubble
to make a universal ROM.
One of the thinks i will try is to change the recovery from TWRP to CMW to see if there
is an installation fold from the ROMS.
I have changed my radio: no effect
I have changed recovery from cwm to 4ext: no effect.
I have changed my rom from jb to sense4 (fallout): this was the last thing for a daily use phone at the moment........
if the small bugs are ready fixed then i go back to jb......
Oke I've changed my recovery from TWRP to CWM installed some ROMS indeed no result
I also tried the MigSaga-v0.1-BLINDNDUMB kernel with a even worse result. No sound at all,
but we're keep on testing. I'm certainly not going to stock!
The problem for now is solved see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33390321&postcount=2138

Roms that work with T-Mobile htc one s

I started this to see if anyone can list a few ROMs that work with T-Mobiles htc one s. Please help by listing the ROM you are on and by saying if the ROM has any issues; such as WiFi not working for example.

Cm10 nightly- works excellent but it takes WiFi about 5 mins to kick in after I toggle it. If any one knows how to fix it please reply to this post

I've been using $droyd$'s AOKP 4.2.2 ROM and the only issue is that as of right now, you can't record in 1080p. Other than that, its very smooth and fast.
Also if you were unaware before, wifi-calling doesn't work on any jelly bean rom.
Good luck!

WIFI issues are a nuance of this phone and the tmobile seems to be the most affected - it's different for each access point, user, phone, rom and firmware. In short you'll have to try it.
My tmobile worked with wifi on CM10 and CM10.1, it would not work with Viper until I downgraded my hboot (partial s-off enables some firmware write access) and flashed my wifi firmware. It get's interesting - I then put the old firmware back and the wifi still worked!!
Did you see the S-OFF thread? This will enable you to flash the radio firmware which will solve any problems.
Remember your WIFI channels - different countries use different range of channels and some access points 'helpfull' set the channel automaticlly. I have many devices that cannot cope with channel12.
Not trying to be a buzz kill here, but what's the purpose of this thread? I mean the Dev section is right over there, and the first page is flowing with fully working or close to fully working new ROMS.
Just saying.
I see what your saying. But honestly when you go through the a certain ROMs thread, they never say how WiFi doesn't work on T-Mobile phones. Or any of the problems Tmobiles users face. And who wants to go through a thread having to look for that one specific detail about a ROM whether or not to see if WiFi works. Also when looking through these ROM threads you find people that just like to say thank you (which there is nothing wrong with) that fill up the pages, making it harder to know if everything in that ROM is really going to work on your tmobile HTC one s, because people do search through comments to see what the users say. Therefore I made this thread for all T-Mobile users who want to post and say whether their ROM they are using works perfectly or if they are experiencing problems. And who wants to go through the process of flashing a new ROM without even knowing whether something like WiFi works. So yeah that's why i made this thread

I get that, ROM posts can be a little all over the place sometimes. I didn't understand at first; I'm one of the few T-Mo users with pretty much no problems. It also doesn't help that the ROM database that some guy did in the Dev section hasn't been updated for some time.
Thankyou

Ok thank you. Now i think im going to go Flash that rom. And also did you do anything specific to get your wifi working. and what Hboot are you on
If you are S-ON and have high HBOOT and want a Sense-based ROM with working WiFi, you were looking at TrickDroid 7 (TMOUS based), Unknown Retribution, and I think one more (Energy Blue, IIRC) that were based on recent updates. Since they were all based on the TMOUS ROM, everything should work without doing anything super special, including WiFi-calling. Virtuous Ville+ also had working WiFi, but no WiFi-calling. Recent CM 10.1 nightlies are working really well. At least, those are the ROMs I've used.

Wait are you saying that Recent cm10.1 nightlies have wifi working on our device. and by wifi working i mean it automatically turns on, and not just hangs and turns on later .
I haven't had any WiFi hangs.
I just started using Liquid Smooth. Pretty nice IMO. The only issues I've notcied were a bluetooth hang that fixed after a reboot, and Voice search keeps crashing.

Right now I'm on Viper 2.1.0 with the full firmware from the 3.16 WWE OTA -- I only made that jump because S-OFF makes it easy to switch without having to downgrade HBOOT. So HBOOT is 2.15 and Radio is 1.11.50.05.28. But I've just started using that and can't give you much in the way of impressions on WiFi stability yet. Just flashed it last night and didn't have any WiFi problems downloading my apps last night or weather checks this morning.
Before that I was using a recent CM 10.1 nightly on the TMOUS 2.35.531.10 firmware. So HBOOT 1.14 and 1.11t. I ran that firmware combination from shortly after its release until flashing Viper. ROMs in use were either CM 10.1 nightlies or Unknown Retribution (TMOUS 2.35 based).

noob question- What do you mean by TMOUS 2.35 based. And how does that affect the cm10.1 nightly
I mean ROMs that were built using T-Mobile US's 2.35 ROM as a base. Other Sense-based ROMs, like Viper, start with different ROMs as a base. The different Sense bases are part of the reason people run into WiFi problems when using ROMs originally created for other regions.
CM 10.1 has an entirely different heritage so it has its own ways of dealing with those issues.

p.s. sorry for the slow reply
Gotta Tell you the Viper 2.1.0 rocks...its fast awesome battery life and its got working wifi...not wifi calling but just wifi in general...it honestly is the best sense ROM...I have tried CM 10, Virtuous Ville+, P.A.C Man and even the ICS ROMs and I gotta say the Venom team makes an awesome product...
"[rom][S4][15FEB]Updated_4.2.2_AOKP-Working-video" seems to work great with TMOUS hboot 1.14, added the new camera (in the post) with photosphere, The only little bug I found is the bluetooth doesn't list station info on my car stereo. I saw a tearing fix using bubba kernel, but I'm just living with it for now. Everything else seems to work great!
I just flashed the LiquidSmooth JB ROM from Droyd and this thing is amazing.. Coming from a rooted Stock Sense there really is no comparison, I might give Viper a try but this is clearly gonna be my daily driver

Very Unstable 3G on Stock JB 4.1.1

Dear forummers!
I have some problems with my HTC One S.
I have a really unstable connection on 3G, and the newer radio made it even worse.
It seems fine when it uses HSDPA but it has some problems on 3G and I know it switches automatically but still it is very unstable!
I'm now running almost the last update. with the 1.11 EU radio.
I am not rooted, but I have S-OFF, SuperCID and custom CWM 6.0.4.0 recovery.
Anyone knows what is going on?
EDIT: It seems to be less on CM10.1.
It is really weird, is it possible to downgrade to an android 4.0.* firmware?

Flashing any custom kernel = Crazy phone

Hi. It's my first post here, so i couldn't put this post in a specific thread related to Kernels i have flashed.
I have S-Off, SuperCID and CM11 on my One S atm. I updated today from Maximus ROM ( and downgraded HBoot to 2.15 via RUU). I noticed that my phone doesnt seem compatible to custom kernels, as each time i flash a custom kernel my phone goes into bootloops or remains stuck at boot screen. When it manages to turn on, i get a lot of notifications that some apps or services have closed, making my phone unusable.
When i was on Maximus, solution was reverting to stock kernel.
What am i doing wrong or why is it only happening to me?
AFAIK there isn't any custom kernel compatible with Cm11 atm. Because with last 2 updates Cm11 had a lot of changes and custom kernels are not compatible with it. You should use stock cm kernel for now. I guess custom kernels will be updated in a few days

I don't think it's necessarily related to CM11 as i had this problem while running Maximus HD as well.

So even after following droyd instructions regarding a complete wipe, this is not solved. Apparently there is a problem with my phone.
If anyone knows deeper stuff regarding this or may be able to tell me what to try, I would be grateful.
