Changing Nav Bar Buttons in Sense - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Is there an app that will work with Sense 6 to change the nav bar buttons?
I am looking for buttons that are out of the ordinary. Not wanting to just change color or size.

+1. SoftKeyZ Root in the PlayStore

Thanks guys. It worked perfect.

Does Softkeyz allow you to change the functionality of the buttons or just the look? I want to swap the back and recent apps keys on my M8.

I'm using softkeyz for the looks and gravitybox to do the same thing you're wanting to do, works great!

Well I have gravitybox installed but didn't see an option to swap the keys around. I'll have to look again.

It's in the navigation bar tweaks

Or you can can the image in systemui

You really don't wanna use GravityBox... mainly because the dev don't really like anyone who's not using a Nexus. Sense Toolbox will change the functionality of the navbar buttons... GravityBox will too, but a bunch of things don't work. Ironically, on the Galaxy S3, more stuff in GravityBox works in TouchWiz than CM. Yep, even in CM, which is as close to AOSP as you can get without running a Nexus, stuff in GB is broken. Anyway, unless GB has something real special ST doesn't... I'd just stick with ST, provided you're running a Sense ROM, that is. If you're GPE, take your chances with GB. Might work, might not, not sure on that count.

What about adding extra nav bar soft keys? I am used to owning Nexus phones but loving the new HTC so I went for the M8 this time with no regrets. So far the only thing i am missing is the ability to add up to 6 softkeys. Thanks.

Not in Sense. Various custom ROMs have the ability to add or remove soft keys.
If you really wanna stick with Sense and you don't hate Pie, LMT Launcher (it's not really a launcher) has a decent Pie you can use.

Thanks for the reply!
Is there anything else like this (preferably free) that doesn't look like iOS? (I know, why would I want iOS features without the iOS look?)

I use the MIUI rom, even though I'm not a fan of the iProducts. Aside from a few features and the lack of an app drawer, mine doesn't look like an iPhone since I've themed it. It has the feature you're looking for, but I'm not sure if they make the rom for your phone - or if you're rooted, for that matter.
I know Go Launcher Ex does this in the app drawer. I didn't use it long enough to notice if it does it on the homescreens as well.
thanks for the info - I'm an ex-iphone user and I'll check these out.

Love the fact that we have something for MIUI with out buying an app.
Made by the same people that make ripple lock. Both replacements have very good graphically, but they need to learn that root users need to ability to NOT to disable lockscreen, as this is a stupid way to bypass the stock lockscreen, as Tesla the Guy who made widget locker figured out, and uses root to bypass the stock lockscreen which is better.
Tesla has stated he's going to add sense 3.0 replica style lock, but don't know when he will do it

Not for me it works great with cm7.1 RC1 i love this i used miui for a couple of weeks and i loved this lockscreen but had to come back to cm7 because how much faster and stable it was (also i love that you can change the shortcuts!
The developer of this app annoys me. He always updates his free version before he updates the paid version, he did this with ripple lock as well.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
I can't seem to disable the default lock so this one is only used as well as power button not waking. tried with a fresh wipe and flash install.these are effecting cm7 nightly 146 with Chad's 6/19 kernel with aggressive undervolt.
Did you disable lock screen in CM settings>tablet tweaks?
forgot about that.that worked once I disabled the poweramp lock widget which also enabled the system lock. that's all good but the power button doesn't do squat while it's locked
I haven't used the app, but it sounds like something that may need to be fixed with it, unless there's some setting for the lockscreen app that you need to change.
Multiple people are complaining about the power button problem both on xda and the market reviews. I emailed the developer about it but no response. The app is very similar to the developers on ripple lock. GREAT potential he just needs to work on it. I hope teslacoil releases a new WL with the sense 3.0 lockscreen soon, I like widgetlocker

ICS style on ANY ROM

This may be old news for a lot of a people, but since I can't find any mention of it in the G2x Forums, then I figured there were probably still enough people who don't know about it to warrant a new thread.
If you're like me and got tired of the instabilities of ICS roms and switched to a GB one, but missed the look and feel of ICS, then here is your answer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636393
Holo Launcher works for 2.2 and above. I've been running it on top of HFP 2.2 for 3 days with no problems. It does a great job of giving you an ICS feel on your GB ROM and also features pinch previews and scrollable docks. I recommend using this with a rom that supports Theme Chooser to fully customize your device and really get that Sandwich feel (or whatever other feel you want )
thats pretty cool, gonna try this when i get home, thanks for posting this!
I've been using it for 2 days and it is nice and gives the same exact feel of stock launcher of 4.0.4 without the lag haha, I wish Widgets would work but it is only a beta ;-)

Widgets are working for me. Just not in the ICS style of pulling them from the app drawer, which is not a huge deal for me.

Only if it had lock screen gesture and delete/uninstall apps directly from the app drawer. The two things that won't let me go of the Golauncher.

My current rom supports lockscreen gestures (I use them frequently). And if you hold down on an app from the app drawer, drag it to the delete/trash icon, and hold it there, it turns into an uninstall icon. Note: this only works with downloaded apps and not system apps.***
Oh.. and I appreciate thanks, but if you try the launcher and like it, please show your support and thanks to dev in the original thread linked in the OP. Thanks!
Its Ok, doesn't compare to ADW with the ICS Sqrd paid theme is smooth silky Butter!
I tried this before, it's not bad but I'd rather use GO Launcher EX with an ICS theme. It's just way smoother for my phone.
The jelly bean update is nice.... People don't seem to like the search bar but I think it's cool

can i change the notification bar?
Sadly no unless you root it
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
Yes you can change the notification bar to an ICS/JB style without having to root by installing the omega status bar app and ICS theme, however, it is a bit buggy at the minute.

im talking about when u drag down the notification bar. i like how the nexus u can turn on and off wireless and it just look more neat.
Ah. I think the developer of omega said that he would be working on the notification tray/area as well. No idea when he will provide that update/app though.
What do you mean by turn on and off wireless? Do you just mean something like notification toggles?

Sorry dude but nope. What I did was install nova launcher. Yeah it doesn't completely change it but it still looks nice.
Widgetsoid let's you add a notification power bar like CM. Its a little tricky, but you place the widget on your home screen, configure it for notifications then you can delete it and the pull down bar will still be there...or...you know, just install CM

How to manually change appswitch key to menu

Hi
I found this out by just playing around trying to change my hardware keys. I know this works with aosp 4.2.2 ROMs but I haven't tested it with sense ROMs yet. To change appswitch key to open menu go into /system/usr/keylayout/synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.kl and change key 249 from appswitch to menu. Will try on sense ROMs soon and let y'all know if it works on them also. I will also try remapping other hardware keys as well just to see if they work.
OK it works on sense ROMs and all the hardware keys can be remapped. Also a reboot is needed to apply changes
Thats cool but every rom has that capability built in. Even sense roms
