[Q] Speech to Text - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello all. First time seeker of information as my searches are coming up negative.
Phone is verizon SGS3 (SCH-I535) with 4.1.2 installed. It is rooted, and everything has been backed up in titan. No custom ROMS but clockwork recovery is installed.
Recently I went though and froze/uninstalled some bloatware, after a full titan backup was performed. So everything can be restored, if need be.
More pertinent information, I use the "Keyboard from Android 2.3" app to use the gingerbread keyboard. Swype and samsung keyboards are also installed.
The functionality I lost was the speech to text. Using the gingerbread and swype keyboard there's a microphone to record voice and put it to text. I've unfrozen and reinstalled all the s memo, and s suggest apps thinking that these were the culprits from preventing this function from working. (As of now gingerbread says "No matches found" and Swype just says nothing).
Does anyone know what process or app controls the speech to text? My language is set up, the TTS is set up, but nothing seems to recognize my voice for conversion to text.
Thank you.

[Q] Sky ICS - Google Voice won't allow request

So i installed the Sky ICS version 6.9.2z update and i still can't google voice to work, it hasn't worked since i installed Sky ICS at all... well it installs fine and everything but everytime it goes to allow google request when i hit the allow button it locks up for 10 seconds or so and crashes back to the home screen, it doesn't say force close or anything like that. I have tried clearing caches permissions and everything i can think of... why won't it let me allow request? also, visual voicemail doesn't every work either says incorrect password but i really don't want that anyway... i want Google Voice! So, if anyone has any ideas i could try please let me know, i would greatly appreciate it!
I've also had this problem. I think I fixed it by going to Settings > Call and make sure the voicemail service is "My Carrier" then set it back as Google voice.
If that didn't work uninstall google voice, go to Settings > Call and make sure the voicemail service is "My Carrier" then install google voice again and run through the setup. Should solve it.
I followed the steps you suggested but i still cannot get it to work... the carrier is set as google voice but when i click voice it just tries to go through the setup again and crashes. If i click google voice setting under settings>call>voicemail - settings for Google Voice it just runs through the setup again...Thank you for your suggestions though!
Have you tried the manual settings given on google voice settings page.
I think something like enter ##0040# press call and it will forward...
Yeah, i did manually put those numbers in and got confirmation that it was forwarding to my phone but google voice itself still just crashes when i get allow this request and "click" Allow it freezes for like 10 seconds goes black screen for several seconds then back at the home screen... then next time i click google voice it goes back to the setup again.
I think that everyone has the notification error where it says that the update was unsuccessful. After I see that I always click on my google voice number then back out and it just works. But it sounds like your program is crashing before you even get the unsuccessful msg.
Try moving your GV apk to the internal SD after you wipe data then uninstall from the applications page. In fact goto applications page from settings find GV wipe data, then uninstall and boot to recovery. Now in recovery wipe dalvik x2, wipe cache partition x2, reboot android and goto into rom manager and fix permisions. then goto the market my apps and download GV to install GV either to the internal SD card or the external SD if u have.. point is to try a different path.
If none of that works then I suggest that you re format your internal SD and system but make sure to have your base ROM waiting within reach of CWM.
If you end up going this route then take your time and DO NOT use TitaniumBackup for anything, and uncheck restore system from within the privacy page. Build your foundation slowly on top of the fresh format and back up that solid base with only essentials to cwm.
best of luck
Well, i followed all that and still get the same thing... i was hoping it wouldn't come to starting over but Voice is important to me. It worked just fine on every ROM on my captivate grr so frustrating... My main concern is i don't know how i can do any cleaner of an install than i just did... i just got the phone and never set up the stock ROM at all and the first thing i did is follow the SKY ICS don't complain about FCs guide to get it as clean as possible and then i installed the ROM... There was no backup or restoring anything except i guess from whatever google settings were backed up. I might have to try a different ROM. Well, thanks for all your guys help!
So i downloaded and installed gReader last night and this also has the same Allow Request screen... this freezes, crashes back to home screen just like google voice so it has nothing to do with google voice itself, there is something very wrong... i feel like it has trouble getting permission from my gmail account?
Just an update, i did a format/clean install without anything backed up... Now it all works!
nice! Format, fresh install.. did you uncheck 'backup to Google' in privacy tab?
that was the straw that broke the stubborn androids back from my experience.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
actually i was debating back and forth but yes i decided to keep backup checked and keep whatever google has backed up and fortunately everything works flawlessly so far!

Problem with Eva voice assistant and tasker

Recently when I say a command phrase to Eva that I have programmed to activate a tasker task, the task does not run. Eva shows the command I say and looks like it normally would when you say a programmed tasker command phrase, but the last 5 days it never works. This started on CM10, so I switched to Beans, same problem. I have done full wipes and flashes, wiped data for both apps and reinstalled both tasker and eva, and deleted both the eva folder and the tasker folder on sdcard. Tasker has allow external program access checked.
I contacted the developer of Eva who said he cannot reproduce the problem which indicates something wrong on my end. While on beans I uninstalled google now and went to market to reinstall regular voice search since on beans had issues with eva not hearing me when jellybean voice search installed. I did not have this problem after an update to eva on CM10.
-Is there a detailed way to go from google now voice search to ics voice search?
-Are there other folders created by tasker on my sdcard I do not know about, i only know of the tasker folder in root
-If I go back to full stock, unrooted, and have the same problem, is there something else that could cause this problem?
Sorry for long post but this feature very valuable to me. Thanks for any help.
Edit - Forgot to mention NFC tags run tasker commands fine with nfc tag launcher

[Q] Speech recognition not working w/ Viper 3.2.6

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am new to rooting phones and this HTC One X was a first for me, I tried several times nearly bricking until I figured it out. I am now content running the Viper Rom, it sems to be the best one for me, I am on 3.2.6 and I will list all the phone info and stats at the end of the post. My question is about the Speech Recognition software. I had an icon on my keyboard for texting but it has gone away. I have tried for hours to find a setting that would allow me to turn it back on, but no luck. I had a look in my widgets and could not find a Google search widget (I believe it was there before). I have downloaded the Gingerbread keyboard from the app store and tried it, but it also has no microphone icon on it. At one point (Iam not sure how I got it) an error message popped up an said the Speach Recognition App was not working or not installed, I really do not remember as I only saw the message once. I have downloaded several texting apps like Chomp and Hancent but none of them have the speech to text option either. I am not sure when I broke it or how, I have installed the Kingbeatz sound package but it still worked after that. I do not want to start over and reflash the ROM as I have everything the way I like it now. I do have a couple of other issues, but they are not as important to me as the talk-to-text feature as I use it while driving a lot.
Thanks for any help

Phone Search (Apps & Contacts) not working

I recently developed this issue in Google search. For some reason my apps/contacts are not being displayed when I am typing directly into the search widget or even when I go into Google Now. When I try voice (text Bob or email Jon), that does work perfectly. I have deleted cache/data files, uninstalled the Google search back to the default (search on the older default app didnt work either), and then updated again.
The option to search phone data is ticked on in the settings. What could be going on? Has anyone seen this issue? I will detail now, that I am rooted but that shouldnt be an issue.

[Completed] [Q] Please help with deleted system file

I rooted and debloated my phone of annoying apps a couple months ago. Apparently I went a step too far and uninstalled an app related to voice recognition. (no backup, unfortunately) I thought it was unneeded and just recently realized it crippled my ability to use voice recognition. The stock keyboard shows the mic button, but does nothing when pressed. Google keyboard wont show the mic and in google keyboard settings the "voice input key" option is greyed and says "No voice input methods enabled. Check language and input settings." There are no settings related to it in language and input settings. Other apps don't work or say my phone isn't capable of voice recognition. I did use voice recognition from the stock keyboard when I first had the phone and it worked fine. I can't think of anything else I did to cause this. I updated the UI to the latest but that didn't replace the file. I really want to avoid resetting and flashing roms so I would love to find that app and just install it again. I remember it having the words, voice, speech, or something similar. I need a list of system files so I can compare it to mine and see what I'm missing. I looked around but couldn't manage to do it. If someone can provide a list or point me in the direction of solving this I would really appreciate it. Huawei Ascend P7 - Android 4.4.2 - Emotion UI version 2.3
Thanks, Stu

Hello
I couldn't find a stock firmware for your device on XDA, but you could post your issue in the Ascend P7 Q&A forum where someone would be able to extract the apk and link it to you.
Cheers,
Quasar.
