First, apologies for asking another "how to flash" , like the various existing threads. I had already hard bricked the same tab once, don't want it to happen again. I was able to get a used motherboard for this tab and got it to work. Currently on 4.2.1, build no. JOP40D.US_epad-10.6.1.31-20130823
I really would like some one who has the same tab as mine, to give me a step by step guide ( or point me to an existing link ) on how to flash recovery ( cwm or twrp, what version, fast-boot method or via rom manager, goo manager? etc ) after unlocking the boot-loader, and then flashing the custom ROM, installing the kernel. Looking to install either Omni ROM or CM11.

Anyone?

So, I'm installing an custom rom for the 1st time.
So, my phone and other details;
Samsung Galaxy S Plus
Android 2.3.5 Stock
SIM-Locked.
Wanting this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315448
I know I lose the warranty, but i dont really care as there is like 2-3 months left.
I have some big questions, as im a noob!
1) Can being SIM-Locked cause any problems?
2) I read, that you don't have to root to install it.
3) How do I install it? I know something about root/Custom ROM's, but no idea about kernels/recoverys. Full tutorial if possible!
You need to install CWM recovery because You can flash new roms through it.. And for install CWM. You must have a rooted device. So Do this before installing any rom. Make sure You install rom of ur own device.
This is step by step guide of how to root ur device http://theunlockr.com/2012/05/29/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s-plus-i9100/
This is guide of installing CWM or TWRP recovery.. I recommend u to install CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2463347
After completing this two process u can install any rom by following the instructions given in the OP of the rom.
Since my AT&T ICS 4.04(final update) Atrix 2 won't pass beyond the M logo (have been flashed like ten times), I need someones help.
I can't downgrade to GB because would brick the phone forever or upgrade to a newer version. Or flash a custom ROM because the phone is not rooted and doesn't have any custom recovery tool installed.
So, I was thinking, maybe if I could flash an already rooted system and a custom recovery using RSDLite, could boot into the custom recovery, install a custom ROM and see if I can fix my phone.
Or maybe flash(RSDLite) a backup(or only the files need for this purpose) made by any user of the forum.
Is that possible? Please help.

It would be better to ask all the questions in one thread itself, rather than making new ones each time for a newer question.
RSDLite can't flash files which aren't signed by Motorola, hence no pre-rooted or custom recovery installed ROM can be flashed this way, since they won't have Motorola signatures.
So I finally decided I wanted to flash custom roms on my new phone (Sprint LG G2). I did some research on the pros and cons and the risks and thought I was smart enough with tech that I could figure it out. I was able to root no problem, it was really easy to just follow the top root thread step by step. Now I'm trying to install a recovery method to backup my stock rom and flash new roms and I'm finding it really difficult. I'm following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522965
I chose this one because it is up towards the top of the forum. I installed flashify and set the recovery image to the latest version of twrp (2.6.3.3) like OP suggested. I then backed up the stock recovery and the restore kernel in flashify. I rebooted recovery and there is an error. I read through the post and someone suggested using the previous twrp recovery image (2.6.3.2). Now it works, I immediately backed up the stock rom (with root). Now I'm worried about flashing a ROM when it says to use the most up to date twrp (which I don't have and I'm not sure how to update it now). Also I'm incredibly frustrated because I've reached my flash limit in Flashify because I was switching between different versions of twrp. I'm also worn out reading through posts to figure out how to get my recovery working and up to date. It's taken me like 3 hours now to get where I am. Can I install custom ROMs on an out dated version of twrp? Are there additional risks? Any information or resources on the recovery would be much appreciated.
Howdy y'all. I bricked my old G2 D800, I don't want a repeat with the new one. I tried doing all the research I could. I have a new D800, 10d, 4.4.2. I want CM11, tried reading the threads on that and custom recovery. I just need a little help to make sure I have the order of operations down pat before I crash another. I've rooted and flashed ROMs before, but not with th locked boot loader and security AT&T has.
Please just correct me if I'm wrong. Through the threads I have read I believe this is what I am to do.
1.) Flash my 4.4.2 back to 4.2.2 using LG FT
2.) Root using IO23
3.) Download Flashify & install TWRP 2.7.7 with Loki
4.) Follow steps to install CM 10.2
5.) Follow steps to install CM 11
Of course make backup once 4.2.2 plus root and TWRP is achieved before trying CM. I just want CM like I've had on previous phones. Thanks in advance.
All is good back to being ROM junkie. Anyone who does read and wishes to flash custom roms and get custom recovery on KK. Obtain root via IOroot25, then use AutoRec Recovery Installer for TWRP recovery.
Multi part question here which, in my mind, are somewhat related.. I've read up on many posts but these questions I still am not totally clear on and would rather not risk bricking trying to experiment....
#1) When a nandroid is taken on a particular firmware (say 4.4.4) and then after upgrading firmware to a different firmware (say 5.0.2) and I encounter a problem where there is no OS left after wiping and failing to install a custom ROM (TWRP will report: no OS installed! are you sure you want to reboot?), can I flash restore the 4.4.4 nandroid and be ok or will I brick because of bootloader incompatibility [I come from motorola phones recently - this is my first HTC]?
#2) When adding additional ROMs to multiROM do the ROMs have to be of the same firmware version? Moreover, can multiROM have a sense ROM as it's primary ROM and a GPE ROM as a secondary ROM and vice versa?
( FYI - as of this posting I still have yet to successfully boot my secondary ROM using multiROM - I can successfully install mod'd TWRP, the manager, and the patched kernel but something is eluding me - anyone with a link to a very simplified and step by step procedure on installing mulitRoom would be appreciated. I thought I had enough understanding [of the procedures I could find anyways] but apparently not, as I obviously can not get secondary Rom to boot.) I'm able to add the ROM in TWRP but when I reboot, the ROM is not listed after pressing cancel and going to the multiROM boot screen, there is simply nothing there.
#3) Re: multirom - When I reboot into the mod'd TWRP recovery and flash gapps (or any zip file for that matter) how do I know which ROM the zip is being applied to (ie: primary or secondary)?
Feel free to answer as many or as few of the questions as I know it is a lot. Thanks in advance!

You won't brick it.. softbrick/bootloop maybe.. but it's easy enough just to keep a copy of the different firmware zips to flash before restoring that version nandroid.

Much oblige! I assume then what to do would be to NOT reboot to system but to BOOTLOADER and fastboot flash the zip? or would I flash the firmware from TWRP (I thought firmware had to be fastbootRUU flashed)?
thx again
