I am using Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 p3100 (3g + wifi) . it is on non rooted stock 4.1.2 jellybean. The problem is, its volume down button is not working and i want to root it and flash kitkat on it. That means im not able to root it by the odin method... Guys plz tell me a way to root it without odin because i am not able to get into "Download mode" but i can enter into "Recovery mode" ... Help me plz..........
The technical term for your condition is "screwed".
Unless ypu get the hardware button fixed you're stuck

IDK, if there is something like USB JIG for 30 pin USB connector.
Otherwise no chance of rooting via Odin method until you got your volume down button repaired. :good:
you have to conect your tablet to your pc and reboot it via adb
hope this help

I didnt think adb would work. Isnt that a sudo command to boot download mode?
Edit*** yeah, won't work to root because its a superuser command

Sudo= SuperUser Do
Sudo commands will not work unless the device is already rooted, as i mentioned above.

sudo is only needed for root permissions on the remote computer when udev doesn't give full permission to the usb device that is connected to it. I'm not referring to calling su on the tablet itself.

I have finally been able to unlock my TF300T!!!!! But now I'm trying install TWRP or CWM so I can root and I'm having a few problems...
I've been trying this guide ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845377 ) and I'm stuck on Part 3 step 3.
The command prompt is reading :
C:\tf300tsoftware>adb reboot bootloader
error: device not found
Then when I just plug in the tablet I can transfer any files from my pc to the table, but it will not read anything on the command prompt. Any help would be great. I've re-installed the drivers, and re-installed all of the software many times but I'm just at a loss.
Thanks again.

This sounds like you are trying to run adb, before plugging in your tablet?
Using adb generally requires your tablet to be plugged into the USB port of your PC.
Anyhow, another way to get into the boot loader is to hold the volume-down key, while switching on the tablet.
Hope that helps.

Need to know if you have the proper device drivers. You can transfer files from PC to tablet because that uses different drivers.
What happens when you type 'fastboot devices'?

You can accomplish part 3 step 3 without adb. Power tablet off. Power on by holding power and down volume till you see the bootloader menu, release both power button and down volume. Now continue with part 3 step 4.
Good Luck!

I am having the same problem. I connect the tablet and it seems to connect fine (MTP) but adb doesn't see it. When I enter the command above it just returns the next line with no results.
I loaded the Asus sync from their website which doesn't seem to have made much difference either.

reinstall drivers and check that when u plug it in, the pc is seeing the nexus go to device manager and see if its recognized mand doesnt have an exclamation sign, if there is one, while plugged in, reinstall the drivers
to learn how to install drivers and getting the correct files: http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/
or try to flash stock via fastboot (maybe u will need to reinstall the drives, just check if its recognized under device manager):
little tutorial i made for another guy once (sorry my english and accent): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10_N_vV-7NQ&list=UUTsL8yOHOK7IUQl2tsKId5A&index=1

Well I hope when u say "it doesn't do anything" that u weren't expecting something to pop up on the screen. If it mounts u can only tell by clicking.... My computer then drive "___" its probably drive f or g.
If it pops up then ur good. Add the ROM & gapps.
But worse case do what the previous post suggests.
Good luck

Hello everyone,
I have done something utterly stupid with my Nexus 5, I wiped the internal storage and lost my roms, I really wasnt thinking.
I have tried looking at options like adb sideload but cant find a decent tutorial
Could I just get a micro usb to usb adapter and install a rom off that?
Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction with adb sideload?
Other problems are I can't get on the android SDK because the CMD box only flashes up.
Does the adb sideload option in TWRP actually do anything if you wait for it? Its been waiting for about 1 hour now and nothings happening.
Please guys any help is appreciated

Why don't you flash the factory image using fastboot?
The Cmd box you are referring to happens because you need to navigate to that directory using Cmd and run it from there. You cannot just click it.
Thanks but I cant get the SDK to work at all. Im still looking into it but at the moment it wont work
Please somebody help me with the SDK, I dont know what else to do.
I cant open the SDK manager and I cant open it through eclipse either.
Someone else must have had this problem before
Click the link in my signature and then "adb and fastboot. What is it?"
This will help you configure adb properly. It also helps you learn commands. Like adb push.
adb sideload is the same as push but you type sideload instead.
FYI as much as people round here say it, there is no such thing as a soft brick. Its brick or not brick.

Show down and don't panic. Your device is easily fixed. Hold the power button for 20 seconds. This will shut down the phone. Then press and hold the vol down then press the power button. That'll bring your into the bootloader.

Power + volume down button brings you in the bootloader, from there go into recovery (navigate with volume buttons and select with power button)
In recovery follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559200.
Or flash the factory image in the bootloader. (that should work because you need to unlock your bootloader in fastboot)
Thanks guys,

The method 1 in the image says you to use a custom recovery. To use a custom recovery also your phone must be rooted and bootloader unlocked. So, you can't do this without rooting your phone.

Actually, your shud have asked it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon
Okay, install Minimal ADB and Fastboot in PC. (Google it)
Then install your phone drivers and ADB drivers (Google it).
Download this: http://www.techerrata.com/file/twrp2/trltevzw/openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-trltevzw.img
Rename it to recovery.img and place in C:/ drive
Enable USB debugging in phone and connect to PC. (Google it)
Then open 'Minimal ADB and Fastboot' shortcut in Desktop as Admin and type the following:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot recovery C:\recovery.img
Now install the mod zip file which you saw from there.
That's all. Your phone won't be rooted.

After rebooting into bootloader, check if your phone is connected to fastboot mode properly by:
Code:
fastboot devices
If an unique device number is listed, then it means your phone is connected properly.
You can proceed.
You can also try manually going into fastboot by holding some button combination like power + volume up+ volume down while phone is switched off. (This is device specific, so better ask in your phone's forum if you can't figure out)
After going into fastboot mode, do the recovery booting as I gave command before
Hi,
I tried to unlock bootloader. Rooted phone using King Root successfully. Opened bootloader using inside terminal and installing proper aboot. Then without restart i also flashed proper TWRP usning Twrp manager and after clicking reboot bang... black screen and nothing happens. Phone wont act on power button , keys combinations etc. When i connect it using usb i see partition with 2 folders (version and images). I tried some methods like using LG Flash Tool 2014 but it stucks on 4% and wont go ahead no matter what i do (recconecting ,removing battery etc). I would be VERY thankful if someone can provide me step by step solution or just do it via Teamviewer.
