im a medical student. i need a messenger app which can handle threads like a facebook posts with comments so that i can discuss different medical topics with my friends. we have tried the facebook group in the native facebook app but its refresh interval is 30 mns and i cant get instant messages like a messenger app. please suggest one.

In South Africa everyone used to have blackberries. Now days people have all sorts of phones. As an enterprise this becomes difficult in terms of communication.
What's is needed and is not there in the market currently is a cross platform messaging app that has unlimited group members (or around 100) with a task and to do capabilities so that one can run projects. Similar to what BBM has in their group messaging
This would be super popular with all types of people

Whatsapp, ebuddy, msn? They're all cross platform. Even though ebuddy and msn are a bit out-dated, they still do the job perfectly.

I use whatsapp and it does that. Possibly one of the best messaging apps there is. Both parties need it, and it is a dollar, but you can use wifi and it is rock solid stable. One of the best purchases I've made in the play store.

yeah you are only going to get that functionality when both parties are using the same app. And it would have to be a messenger/chat type app not a strictly sms/mms type app
How is group texting with this phone for the AT&T users? I group text alot with several people who have Iphones and cant seem to find an app or phone that group texting works seemlessly with. I am currently using the HTC one x +.
From what I remember group texting tends to be terrible from android to a apple device (using stock messaging app). You could use google hangouts and also make them get the app and try group messaging on there. I also think that Kik app does group messaging you could try that too. Im sorry if hangouts or kik dont work out, I dont group text.

I've been looking everywhere so I decided to ask here.. Is there any way to get push notifications for just one chosen Facebook page about their updates (statuses, photos,..)? Something like twitter has build in in its official app.

Nope, based on 'support' I got from there earlier.. I mean, it probably isn't possible in the vanilla app but I wonder if there is someone with similar issue maybe solved by external app..
