Tap and show the info about Android OS battery usage. Usually if keeping the phone awake can be solved by rebooting the phone.

Without root and a lot of advanced tweaking there is only one simple thing you can do - turn off WiFi and Mobile Data before you go to sleep. Eventually as an even bigger step you can also go to Airplane Mode but obviously you will not be able to take any phone call. See what battery drain you get under those conditions.
Thank you! Thought I had to unroot my phone. Already tried rebooting but did mot work but O tried factory reseting my phone and solved the problem.

1st picture
i think dropbox is eating up your battery
2nd picture
your mobile network signal is weak, this could be the culprit
3rd picture
same as above
post some wakelocks. Otherwise this is useless.
The 1st picture it's obviously dropbox. In the other two, who knows. without wakelock stats this thread is useless
Worth rooting...
If you root go for :
- Wakelock Detector (find out exactly what caused the drain: screen / cpu)
- Greenify (hibernate apps regularly)
- ROM Toolbox Pro (disable startup and other related intents)
Since I did (I stayed on stock) : I don't have to worry about charging during the day + all lag is gone (even with 500 apps and >100 more frozen).
wakelock detector works just fine without root greenify partially
Turn off the wifi

When I first got my phone it would last all day without any issues at all. Today I unplugged it at 7am and with very very little use it was dead by noon. A few phone calls, maybe 5 text messages and thats about it. No facebook, no email, no video.........
When I go into the "Battery" section it says that "Android System" is using 80% (next most used is "standby" at 7%), when I touch the bar graph it shows that the Wi-Fi and Awake are both solid blue, does this mean these are the main culprit?
I have rooted my phone, but didn't flash anything. After rooting I installed AdFree and ran it. I disabled quite a few bloatware apps as well. I've noticed that the last 3 days it really started dying fast, so I uninstalled my most recent apps, but that didn't help.
My GS3 does have the problem where it's constantly switching between 3G/4G and Wi-Fi, many times per minute. I've done the *#0011# and switched wifi power saving mode OFF, but yesterday that didn't seem to help at all. I know it resets after each reboot and I'm sure it was OFF yesterday.
What else can I do without flashing a custom rom?
I guess it just takes a post in the help section to figure it out yourself......well almost.
My screen isn't shutting off! If I get a txt and don't check my phone, the screen stays on until I manually turn it off. If I hit the home button and just sit the phone down, the screen will not shut off.
I've gone into the "Display" settings section and made sure a timeout time was selected and it is. I've changed it from 30 to 15 and that doesn't matter. I've unchecked the smartstay option and that didn't help either. If I manually turn it off, then it's fine until something wakes it up.
WHY WON'T MY SCREEN SHUT OFF???
I just pulled out the battery for 15 seconds and it's working fine now, but I would like to see if I can figure out why it does so next time I can fix it.
Get betterbatterystats from the play store. It will give a breakdown of what process is causing the partial wake lock

Are you using the stock charger or another brand? Some aftermarket ones WILL cause the screen to stay on until it's cycled on and off a couple of times. Also check that it's not your actual router, my net gear router seams to "pulse" at times causing the wifi to continually go on and off on my phone. Had to reset my routers settings to fix. Keeping your wifi toggle on should not use that much juice, unlike older phones where it would continuously search and kill the battery.

So today the battery died before 11:00AM again (unplugged at 6:30AM) I showered and began eating breakfast and noticed that it was down to 89% wihout ANY use, this time the screen was not stuck on. I downloaded a free battery monitoring app called GSam Battery.
It's telling me that my Android System used 85.2% of the battery. This program allows me to touch "Android System" and it gives me more information, which I don't fully understand. I took one screenshot, scrolled down and took another.
Please help!
Anyone?

I see you're using a Task Killer. Do not use task killers. They will cause instabilities and problems with the phone. Android will handle memory on its own. Uninstall the task killer and see if anything improves.

It's not normal, turn off location when you're not using it.
Uninstall it

No need to list all your apps when you know Google+ is the culprit
There is an option within settings to sync photos over Wi-Fi only and while on charge, much more efficient unless you really need to backup all the time
Additionally for general gains, you could use another app to turn off data/Wi-Fi or toggle airplane mode overnight, unless you need it syncing while you sleep

Google+ isn't syncing photos because all of my photos are synced.
It was probably syncing something overnight though right? Worth having charging setting anyway
Ironic that an official Google app will have
e such a high wakelock...
Perhaps try something like greenify?

No because I flashed back to stock a couple days ago to reapply mods and haven't taken any pictures yet.. I have greenify so i'll watch my battery level and then use greenify if I need to. Still weird though. I also totally shut off location now (was on battery saving) so I'll see what happens overnight this time.
install wake lock detector thank me later

usual stuff:
hotword detectionn/off?
wifi scanning even when its offn/off?
rogue app?
higher up you can
install a wakelock detector and check which apps does the "batman"
would have been helpful if you had at least attached the screenshot of the battery stats.
Best hope: Install a wake-lock detector. Check for app.

Google+ will sometimes cause small wakelocks on my phone overnight as well. Although, it doesn't appear as bad as yours. If it doesn't "sync" overnight, I only lose 1-2% that night. If it does sync, it shows that it kept the phone awake for about 10min. But even then, I'll only lose about 5-7% that night (definitely not 33%). I, too, have it back up my pictures over WiFi. This wakelock is random. Sometimes it happens during the day, and sometimes at night. I doesn't really seem to correlate with me taking pictures that day or not.

It's only draining when you're at a home screen so while it's not consistent it will decrease SoT slightly. It only saves you from making 1 screen tap on the mic icon so the trade off is questionable.

Is it set to only sync when plugged in and on Wifi?
This time it went from 89 to 49, probably because in the morning I started getting notifications. Anyways Google plus is no longer on the battery list. Attached are screenshots of anything I think might be useful.

Hii,
I have n° 2 nexus 5 16 gb:
- 4.4.4
- everything stock
- restored defoult
- without application
- without settings configuration: they are the same original settings
- without sim card
- charged in same time from 0% to 100%
- the two phones are part of the same lot
- no wifi connection
- no 3g signal
I noticed an abnormal consumption using the 2 device, sooo:::
I tried to keep them on the table and the batteries are consumed in different ways:
After 1 hour, the first is still 100%, the second is 97%
after a about 3 day the first nexus is 40%, the second is at 1%
same screen on/off
please, what I can do?
Install GSAMbattery and check what's eating the battery
I have to install in bouth 2 nexus 5?
and after??

Installed and now ?????
I should be able to solve it by tomorrow because I need the phone for travel.
Otherwise I just have to throw the nexus 5 in the toilet (really) and back to the Apple Iphone.
If I have a problem Apple changes the cell in less than one hour.
With google I have to wait 40 days (bought in a mall).
Check what's using your battery, likely an app. Check for apps that have been held awake in app usage stats. You can then use greenify or appopsx to tame that app

I wrote that I have no application installed or not ...... did you read my first post??
Gmail, Google search etc are all apps, right? It's probably an app being kept awake by wakelock. Use GSAM Battery monitor to check what is eating up your battery
in 24 min I have battery at 95%
But the 2 nexus 5 are the same: is possible that the first N5 eat battery and the second N5 no?
In my experience with using nexus 5, the biggest culprit is most of the time Google search so I just use greenify and appopsX

1-go to settings -sync (tick Google ) then remove all check mark (gmail sync, pisca .....)
do the same if you have WhatsApp account, viper .....
2-after install gsam app see your wakelocks it should look like this
open app usage then stop apps that drain a lot of battery
in my case I would disable Google plus ,Google play stand

I dont need to do a change in only one of n5 ..... the n5 are the same and one eat battery the other one no eat battery:
when I reinstall 4.4.4 the 2 n5 must be the same with the same battery..... I think
I dont need to resolve problem orf the one N5 ......... i need to do not generate the problem after reinstal the operative sistem .......
Just use the battery monitor to check what's killing your battery and you still haven't done that

I don't know but this tips helps me I just want shear it with you ... may I ask you when the battery drain when you using it or when screen off ?
I have that:
Looking at your screenshot. It seems too soon to know the app causing that. You monitor it for a while or greenify or disable the apps that have been suggested.
Sorry sorry sorry ...... I need to repeat the problem
2 nexus 5, same in all (really all)
all stock
no sim card
the n5 are the same
same original settings after install 4.4.4
no root
original recovery
bootloader unlocked
If I put timeot display to 30 minutes:
after hours the first N5 have 100% battery , the second N5 have 90%
now......
I need to not generate the problem by original.... without other app because the 2 N5 are the same OK????
hello guys this is my first post in xda
i have owned a i ball 6318i android tablet
it's battery draining too fast !!!!
i also reset my tablet 5 times but no luck
my tablet is rooted also
i tried lots of apps to save my battery like 'Deep Sleep Battery Saver" ' Greenify' 'One Power Guard' 'Du Power Saver' etc etc...
so anyone can help me to save my battery
just go in application manager and disable the apps which you never use.
in developer option at last you will fing backgroung apps. set it to 2 and in developer option close any animations also.
do not leave syncronisation otion onn aa it drains a lot off battery.
turn background data off. its found in data service option.
prefer using mute mode insted of viberation.
donot close apps by clicking home button. as it will run in backgroumd. properly close apps.
after doing this all you should have atleaat 1:30 hours of your battery increased.
peace

Brand new S6 but very poor battery life. It lasts about 12 hours without heavy use.
GSam shows screen at 2:45 but it's 1:47 in settings -> battery. GSam shows Held Awake time is 5:26.
How do I troubleshoot? I don't have root.
Thanks
Have a look at wakelocks. I have had that the youtube app was causing massive battery drain and I was not even using it. Also have a look as the camera quick launch in the camera settings. Might be that you are accidentally hitting the center button twice and the camera launches and eats your battery.
How do I check which app is doing the wakelock?
Thanks
I've done some homework. Gmail is disabled. Location service is off.
Is it rooted? If yes go with greenify and amplify... Shut up those wakelocks. I get above 5hours on my s6 edge.
If not rooted uncheck those apps from which you dont need notifications... Update your phone to the latest baseband... In short keep it updated. Also you mention your phone being new, let it drain completly so that it can caliberate properly
The phone is not rooted (it comes with 5.1.1 and there seems to be no way to root it). It's already updated to latest this week (OTA).
