[APP][2.3+] Instago a smart map for newbies - Android Apps and Games

Hi, my name is Theredsunrise and i am creator of an Android app Instago Street View Map:
Have you ever had a problem finding your car?
Or been lost in a city with no directions?
Or just been finding nearby places in your current location?
Instago has a Google Maps Street View window that updates according to your position and orientation, and an Eye-View simulation of where you are heading. Just perform a long click on the map and pick a choice:
1. Put a Pinpoint anywhere on the map to mark your destination place and the Navigation Arrow will guide you.
2. Or get a full screen of Google Maps Street View panorama, if available.
And if you are just exploring nearby places, Google Places service will help you finding them. More info (contact, website, thumbnail) about found place you get when you click it.

Smart idea. Ive watched a show where they used geo tags and camera. Would be cool to see something like that made

Gonna give it a shot..
:fingers-crossed:
Thanks..

Awesome app!!!

Nifty! Will buy "pro" if I find I am using it
Comments:
Too many reminders about "pro." Smart enough to read it once or twice and get the message.
Canceling help tool-tips too difficult, but see below
If suggesting callibrating the compass, should offer choice to actually do so from the app.
BUG: Get a spurious map pane over various dialogs and also after closing the app.
Running on an LG P500, using a 4.4.2 Omni ROM. Note that some Google Maps options may not run well on this old device. Maps 7 gives jerky graphics and spontaneous reboots trying to overlay some of the views, and Maps 8 is already armv7-dependent so unusable.

Brilliant idea.
It's so walker-friendly.

Great app! Works like it should, and definitely gives you a better perspective about where you are.
One question though - Is there any way to make the transitions more fluid? I mean when you move around with your device, the map and the streetview display has a bit of a lag.
I'm using a Galaxy s2 with AOSP.
Thank you!

[APP] GPS Notification

GPS Notification is a passive application that displays your current GPS information in your notification bar. It starts automatically whenever something uses the GPS.
It is available on Google Market and Amazon for $0.99! I've been developing this for several months, but haven't been advertising it at all. Perhaps it is time for that to change!
Google Market
Amazon
GPS Notification is very configurable. The icon displayed in the status bar can display the number of satellites in view or use, or your speed, or your accuracy, making this a convenient "at-a-glance" tool if you're using a Maps app and want some GPS related information not being shown.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Pulling down the notification shade will show more detailed information, such as the signal strengths of each satellite as bar graphs, and if your GPS has a lock, even more information such as your accuracy, speed, bearing, lat/lon, and altitude
The application is configurable, although you will never need to configure it if you do not wish to. You can have the settings screen run the GPS for as long as you are there, to see your changes immediately.
I would appreciate comments and feedback! In particular, while I've tested on my own devices, I haven't tested on all of them. Note that the application doesn't really look great on Honeycomb; that may be another update down the line.
I've been using this app for a while and have found it very useful. Really Google should think of including something similar to this in the default GPS notification, but in the meantime this works well
Good job.
Thank you for the kind words! Any problems, or requests, or ideas?
Hi there,
this is for sure a nice app. But better watch out, that you don't violate the forum rules. They say that it is not ok, to try to sell (advertise) any app unless there isn't a free version (can be ad-supported) shared for the community.
Please check these links:
Forum Rules (espacially post 2, point 11): http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=263#td_post_81
There is a thread on XDA where you can place your paid apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=993
It would be bad, if a great app like yours would get banned...
Cheers, berkley
Shoot, you are right. Is there a way to move the thread entirely?
Great app and thank you. Please see attached screen shots of pull down notification issue. I think it is related to the color choices on the transparent areas. I believe that Android has a specific color option that should be used on transparent areas to ensure that regardless of the color theme, the correct color displays when there is transparency.

[APP][2.3+] WIMC 2.0 (Where is my car?)

Hello people!
This time I come to introduce version 2.0 of my app:
WIMC (Where is my car?).
The idea came some time ago after that I forgot several times where I had parked my car. Sometimes I wrote the address in my phone to remember and then I thought: ""why not use an app that do it for me?".
That's when I started to look for an app that meet that goal, but I didn't found any app that liked to me fully, because they were unusable, had ads, or they didn't work correctly.
So I decided to learn Android programming and make the app myself.
The app is fairly simple, but perfectly fulfills its function. When opening the app it shows a map using GoogleMaps API. With a simple click it saves the current location obtained by GPS, showing on the map the marker with the address obtained.
After saving the location, three buttons will be displayed:
Move the map to the location where the car is.
Get driving directions to the location of the car
Delete the saved location.
In the left navigation bar there is an access to the latest saved locations, with date, description and a snapshot of the map.
In this new version, I changed the design fully to suit Material Design.

The app can be downloaded in any phone with Android from:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matiasguerra.wimc.app
Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WIMCapp
I invite everyone to download and leave comments. It would also be very useful that you share and leave your reviews in the Google Play Store.
Regards,
Matías Guerra.

Hey man..... I haven't tried your app yet..... Because I already use OCR instantly pro....... But the point I want to raise is that..... There are a lot of apps who can do this...... You should do something to stand out of the crowd...... Right?
So in case it is possible...... Maybe you could try something like real time selection from current screen wherever you are..... Much like CAPTURE2TXT for windows.....
Thanks very much

Totally agree, you should have something that will make your app outstand among such great apps like Tesseract, OCRopus, Conjecture, Anyline, OpenCV. :good:
By the way, how much can an OCR developer get in your country?
Thanks in advance.

Travel Times widget

Hi,
I've just purchased an android phone (Note 8) and had a question about google maps travel widgets. In IOS there was a handy widget which gave current travel times to home/work based on traffic conditions. It looked like the below. I'm having trouble locating something similar for Android though. Since it's a google product surely it exists ?

"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
Hi,
I'm looking for that too
Google Now the assistant on your device. Most call it Hey Google, or Google Assistant. In your app drawer open the Google app, then at the bottom it says More. This opens a profile looking page and in the list select Customize and here you can set many custom things based on your preferences including Commute. It will show you Travel time updates, Updates on traffic incidents, Travel times to get home, Travel info for getting to work, Travel times to places you visit and Nearby public transit stops. Then a list of preferences. It works pretty well. I don't know how it knows when there are accidents but it will tell you that, including the expected delay times. One word of caution though, if you change your navigation preferences in Google Maps, for example I often choose to turn on Avoid Highways because the fastest way is not always the most fun or interesting way, and your commute uses interstates it will show you routes and times that don't include the interstate until you turn this option off. So for a few days my normally 35 minute drive showed nearly an hour until it occurred to me that my last navigation was one where I had chosen to avoid highways. I'm assuming the same is true for Avoid Toll Roads and Avoid Ferries.
So that's the Google app>More>Customize>Commute.
You'll get updates in your notifications, it won't actually show as a widget. Sorry I understood what you wanted but didn't notice that you wanted it in a widget form. On a side note you can ask Google to display your Commute time by saying Hey Google or Ok Google and asking for your commute time.

Question Location Reporting Issue to Google Maps Timeline

Hi all
Hopefully this question thread is not break the rule.
Just trying to find some info and help from the community. Thank you.
It's been a while that I realize this Flip 4 have different behavior related to location reporting. As previously use Xiaomi and Realme, I never have this issue. At first, I thought there's something wrong with my Google Maps setup, then I 100% sure it's because of the phone, as I change back to my old phone the issue is disappear.
If you go to Google Maps timeline, it will show you the location history of your phone. With Flip 4, my journey is almost every time showing straight lines, it should be showing the road I drive, not straight lines like flying. See attached image.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
What I did so far
- Location allowed all the time for Maps and also Google
- No battery/background restriction
- Power saving ON or OFF doesn't matter
- I intentionally open Maps and not closing it
Nothing is working, Maps timeline still showing straight lines every time I commute.
I try several phones using same account, it's positive something wrong with my phone.
Permission usage history also showing there's very minimum background usage of location, it should be periodically reporting location.
I have been using galaxy series long before maps have this feature and i thought this is normal, on every phone.

Thank for replying, but as my experience is not like that.
This is how Maps timeline look like when using Realme phone back then.
It showing the drive path, following road not straight lines like previous attachment.
