Does anyone have an idea why I loose data/voice when flashing 1.54 based roms? I've done a full wipe and I'm currently on 1.55 baseband. I've already tried messing with the network settings and phone info and I can't get it to work. When I try to register on Verizon network I get a message that says the SIM cannot be registered on selected network. Funny thing is if I flash any 1.55 rom, everything works perfect but as soon as I flash viper rom or Nv Rom I loose data and voice. I just made the switch from an s5 and have been wanting to try these 2 roms with no luck. I am currently on skyfall Rom.

You may want to flash stock recovery on one of these roms and do a factory reset from hboot. Then see if your phone behaves better. Stock recovery can fix some radio issues.

Ok I will try this when I get home tonight. Thanks for your help!

Hello there,
Just got a used samsung skyrocket with At&t and upgraded to the 4.0.4 android version.
My problem is that I have no data and wifi will not work. I tried changing the APN settings which would get my data to work but still no Wifi or mms. Any suggestions of how I can fix this? Thank you.
Need more info:
1. Are you on stock or rooted?
A. If rooted, what rom?
2. What radio do you have installed?
It sounds like your radio didn't flash correctly. You can either ODIN to a stock 4.0.4 or just flash a ROM thru CWM Touch.

Try going to the Sky ICS thread in the development forum, grab one of the radios from there, and flash through CWM or TWRP. If it's a bad radio flash, that will fix it.

I'm on stock and I just upgraded to the 4.0.4. How do I check my radio?
type *#06# in phone dialer to check for intact IMEI number and hope your used skyrocket is not blocked from the network

Yes, the radio can be flashed in cwm. What happens after that I don't know.
Lol trial and error... The thing is I can backup via cwm... But can't copy to comp cos don't show the back up in the cwm folder... Don't want to loose me ROM again !!! I must have to format this phone every day
.. It's a bummer installing everything again! Lol

I just flashed a Kernel and was unable to turn on wifi. Reflashed Faux kernel and problem was solved.
EDIT: I now suspect the reason the other kernel did not work was due to the modules Faux kernel uses.
Does the faux kernel work with Gpe

Of course right when I decide to jump ship from TW to an AOSP ROM and I start having issues with data. This morning data was working, listening to Pandora, then it suddenly stopped. I was able to send/receive calls, but no data whatsoever.
I thought it may be the ROM or kernel I was on, so later in the day I flashed a different ROM and was able to get 3G. I even tried switching from ML1 modem to MB1 and it didn't change anything.
So I flashed back to TouchWiz and I still only get 3G.
I'm in South Orange County, CA (between Los Angeles and San Diego) and looking at this map, it looks like there may be issues in the area, but it's hard to tell. http://downdetector.com/status/verizon-wireless/map

Thanks. Yeah, that's what I'm running. Also tried the LTE specific one too.
Perhaps an odin back to stock will fix it.
I saw the map.. It does show l.a area outage of 4G.. Did it happen right after flashing rom or while after.. If u do odin dnt take no software updates it will lock u in on 4.3ota lock bootloader

Flashed from TW to AOSP last night. This morning data worked fine. Then suddenly it stopped while in car dock listening to Pandora. Hasn't been the same since.
Thanks for the tip on the OTA. I'll be sure not to take any of them. Probably just odin to MF1 then flash custom ROM / kernel / modem.
What rom did u flash? .. I suggest use the sticky guide on top 4.0 set it up to see if u got 4G. Then use casual root etc. Flash different rom set it up aswell. Sometimes kernel might messed up signals

Was on Old&Slow's TW 4.3 ROM. Then did a clean flash (including internal SD and format data) and installed Quantum, then AICP. Ironically there was somebody on the AICP thread who recently said they lost data too. Then tried flashing various other AOSP ROMs like Gummy and Liquid. Then clean flashed back to Old&Slow's TW 4.3 ROM. Didn't loose my IEMI I don't think as all the digits are filled in.
Maybe AICP messed up something. It happens.. Happened to me on PA rom

How did you recover from the PA mishap?
Well, still no luck getting 4G. I just did an odin back to MF1, rooted, unlocked bootloader and flashed recovery. Flashed Old&Slow's ML1 4.3 ROM. Still stuck on 3G.
So either 4G is out in my area (VZW rep via Twitter says no), I have a bad SIM card or something is physically wrong with the phone.
I just flashed a another rom.. Did u get 4G wen u were back to stock?

Nope. Still no 4G. Trying to restore a nandroid backup where I had working 4G. Perhaps that'll help.
If that dnt help i suggest getting a new sim card. Go to the vzw corporate store and ask for one. They give it to u for free

I was having some issues with said otapkg. It kept hanging on me. I found a way to revert the files it checks back to stock and the ota went thru. Prior to doing this I had flashed the new firmware and radios.

I wrestled with it for a little while last night and gave up. I was on stock with twrp, faux kernel, and some xposed modules but not much else. I had also frozen some bloat, which I suspect to be the problem. I tried reverting to the stock kernel, recovery, flashing everything manually, defrosting the bloatware, you name it. Still can't get the damn thing to take.
I tried to install twice with stock recovery and kernel. Only change was frozen isis wallet. Failed both times. Put everything back to my original settings, insecure kernel and twrp and flashed the firmware zips posted on the forum. Worked, but software version is still 1.12

I had a different, but similar error.
Do you have any mods? I had a quick toggle for Power Save that stopped mine. You can leave stuff frozen, you just need a stock system. I luckily had a nandroid of stock.

Never mind, I think i have it figured out. I removed several Verizon apps with TB, Pretty sure that's the issue. Forgot all about removing those. Getting old and memory's going fast.
What I ended up doing was taking apps that I modded and replacing back all with stock ones from the system dump. It was kind of a pita but it allowed me to install the ota

Well if you want to troubleshoot it I would start by flashing my ruu that's posted. See if you get 4g on your phone with that.

I just now am getting familiar with what an RUU is and from my understanding so far there's 2 types? 1. radio upgrade unit & 2. rom upgrade utility. Which is yours? I'm not really looking forward to flashing roms atm, just looking for something quick like flashing some firmware that doesn't overwrite my entire system partition 'IF' possible. If not then am I stuck with flashing what appears to be a new rom? Or do I have another option? Thanks for reply!
Edit: Also I forgot to include that I'm S-OFF with bootloader unlocked & permanent root w TWRP recovery, would this act like one of Samsungs crappy OTA's and re-lock my phone IF it was the ROM thing I mentioned above rather than just Radio Firmware?

And ruu is an ruu. It is both the stock rom and firmware included. There are reset parameters that a factory reset on stock recovery can do that twrp etc are not.
This will not affect your lock or s off status and it's pre rooted. Also, there's not really "permanent root" on any phone. More so with s off you have the ability to flash su and root.
