Special symbols using dock over android 4.2.1 - Asus Transformer TF700

Hello,
First of all thanks for your time. I was using crombi-kk for some time, under it I was able to use my dock using English (international) so I could use special characters like áéíóúñ in a way like: ALT+a=á Just like in a regular computer/keybord. However crombi-kk was giving me some troubles, specially I feel it a little slow or not responding fast enough. Therefore I'm trying cromi with android 4.2.1 the problem is that I can't find english(international) anywhere in the input section and I'm guessing that's why I can't use my special characters.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Is there a Android app like "Activator: on the iPhone

Hello,
I was wondering if there was an Android app like Activator on the iPhone? I have searched to the best of my abilities regarding this question but have not found a clear answer. The closest I have come to finding this answer was the app "LaunchKey." However, it does not seem to fit what I am looking for.
Reason for this search is due to my brief episode with the iPhone 3g and yes I know...(after finding out, android system is definitely better in terms of customizing and freedom) Thus during that time I came upon this app called "Activator", which is basically amazing. Now that I am back using the android system I realized the only I miss about the iPhone was that app.
So if anyone can help that would be great! Thanks!
BTW:
Background information on the iPhone jailbreak app "Activator." Basically you can launch any apps and system actions via gestures or hardware buttons. (such as long-press, short-press, double tap,etc...)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464
and for gestures Im not entirely sure where I saw it or or what it was called but it does exist.
Reply
Thanks for the reply, however, I did stumble upon that app but it does not really support long press, short press, double tap and other various hardware buttons. As for gestures, I guess it does not matter as much as the hardware button configuration. Basically can a button have more functions than just one ie: home button-going to home. Thanks
I'm hoping that this app exists, as its one of the first apps I discovered years ago that was auto installed after jail breaking my previous iPhone. The app basically allows you customize a very large range of settings as shortcuts.
http://m.lifehacker.com/5899492/mak...hen-you-connect-or-disconnect-your-headphones
not strongly related but here's an app which I found very useful:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tora.mamma.swipestart
Thanks!
Thanks for your input I however have found the app "SwipePad" to be extremely useful, albeit not the original application I was looking for but it does the job Thank you again!
really!!! Android is amazing, I think is like a pocket pc, but sometimes I miss my old iPhone when I remember cydia tweeks like Activator. :silly:

OMG This is what I want to say my Android Friends Iphone tweaks are more easy way to go, im wondering How can I get Activator !!! >> since 4 years im iphone user and recently bought Note 2 (still I have Iphone) this entire conversation is what im looking for Please help to get a tweaks like that even I looked Cydia substrate for Android mm no use as of know....
Widgets are great but you still have to unlock the phone and look at the screen and press it. With activator you can, for example, press the power button of the phone twice and that will initiate the flash light... this is much better when you are in need of the flash light quickly...I wish android had something like that...

I believe since the time I have posted this question to the present, there have been alternatives as well as actual implementations to the hardware tweaks. Currently, there are baked in hardware tweaks in custom ROM such as CM10.1 (lock screen long press buttons do variety of different things) or software programs such as swipepad, or Trigger app (Both of which I use a lot)
My current ROM CM10.1 has the capability of accessing the flashlight from the longpress of home button while in lockscreen. Or even changing music volume and music track by volume press/longpress. This I consider the equivilent of what you were referring to.

**ATTENTION: any of the information I have provided are based on my own experience/knowledge/research. IT IS IMPERATIVE(important) that you do your own research to double check my information and advice. If ever in DOUBT, ask/research around. (or dont follow through is usually the safest option) YOU are ultimately responsible for what you do with YOUR device, if you don't believe this, please do not continue dabbling in this area.
You should be able to do that, to "unroot" your phone, but it depends on the device as well as the instructions that other developers/rooters have given. (meaning not 100% probable, you need to do more research)
*JUST NOTICED YOU SAID YOU ARE ROOTED
-To get Stock ROM, just download the appropriate ROM zip files and then flash it.
-if you want to get warranty back, you will have to follow instructions for your device on how to unroot. (if even possible)
Follow the instructions given on the cyanogenmod website, usually involves flashing and wiping. (sounds like you have a samsung phone )
Based on question 3 statement, I believe you have to do MORE research. (as this is an extremely basic idea of rooting, unless of course I misread or the question was mistyped) Here is where you can start:CM about
Again, you have to do MORE research yourself, google is your friend for that. There is no one size fits all unrooting method.
Cyanogenmod (also known as CM) has an software release life cycle. (not counting the M snapshot nor experiments) You have Stable>Nightly> Release Candidates(RC).
Taken from this Forum
bassmadrigal:
Stable is after all the features desired by the CM devs have been put in and the code has been tested. Snapshots (M builds) are builds done roughly once a month that has had some testing to make sure things are mostly working and released to the public. These are the first builds that allow official bug reports on the project manager site, https://jira.cyanogenmod.org. Nightlies are automated builds that are built, well, every night. There is no human interaction with these and they are largely there just to see if the code added throughout the day will compile. As far as the devs are concerned, there are no bad builds with the nightlies, because if it doesn't build, that is news to let them know that something is screwed up in the code. They don't accept any bug reports on these builds.
Generally, the nightly builds, while extremely experimental and considered bleeding-edge, tend to be relatively stable and mostly bug-free. Many people use the nightlies as their so-called daily-driver, meaning that any bugs that they may have aren't so severe that they want to switch to a different version. For my Nexus 4, as soon as I got it I switched to a nightly build and haven't had any bugs pop up.
Also, all builds are full builds, so if you switch to a nightly, you aren't required to flash every single nightly. You can do it as you see fit. I've been known sometimes to flash a build every day, but then I've gone a month in between updating. Just grab the latest version you want to flash and flash that one.

[Q] Flash-able .zip for Octo/Quad ICS Lockscreen?

Maybe my searching skills aren't adequate, maybe my understanding is lacklustre.
Greetings, XDA browser, I've come for your help.
I've been playing with all sorts of different ICS ROMs for my Nexus S for the past few days. I've finally settled on one that seems stable and fast.
HOWEVER!!! (Dunn, dunn, dunn!)
I miss the octo-launch provided by some mods such as CyberGR and Codename Android.
You could set 3 or 4 custom apps, which was great for Google Authenticator and my TI-83 emulator.
Is there some flash-able (via CWM) .zip floating out there that I could flash to add this feature to my settings? I've noticed quite a few ROMs add it. And indeed, in Pixel ROM if you upgrade from 'Lite Touch' to 'Fully Touched', your lockscreen changes from a standard unlock/camera to a quad lockscreen. (Without custom apps, much to my ever growing dismay.)
Unfortunately (for me), the world is certainly far from revolving around Sacrosaint. Alas, as I act to alleviate this annoyance (alliteration!) by simply asking, I'm sure there's someone out there who actually knows what they're talking about.
So, am I crazy or is this possible? If it is possible (regardless of my sanity), would it be possible to receive guidance?
Thank you for your time,
Sacrosaint
EDIT: No one ever replied, but I did find that the best ROM for an Octo layout is AOKP. Just in case anyone is interested.

Aniol 7 tornado chinese baido input annoyuing

Hi guys,
ive just bought a ainol 7, tornadoes
whenever i try typing there is the annoying chinese langiuage input.,
i go to settings - language and inputs but the "baidu" is grayed out and i cant uninstall it
PLS HELP
Bascially i dont want any chinese thing in my tablet
is there a way to also make this ainol faster?/ Smoother its pretty good to me so far
You need to install another keyboard or input method before you can remove Baidu input method.
Under normal circumstances Android keyboard should be built in, so you can always revert to it.
But it seems that you're not the case.
is there no app for facebook that thismodelcan take?

[Completed] [Q] HELP :Backlighting keyboard off after custom rom on HTC desire z

Hello everybody.
Please, do not take much care to my language, i'm french and my english is very bad..
So, here is my problem :
I installed a few weeks ago the AOSP 4.2.2 - Jelly Baby - v2.0.0 ROM on my Desire Z ans all was ok, except.. the manual keyboard who's out and don't work on sliding the phone. I often need that in many situations.
I've looked at several softs on the market :
- Keyboard backlight controller : don't work at all...
- LED Backlight Controller (Q2) : only light physycal keyboard if the app is turn on, and the worst is the message "SU right accorded to led.." which appear all the time, and mask the command windows of this soft...
I looked all around the forum but no one seem to have the same problem, that's why i try this question here.
When i was trying several custom ROMs on my phone before this last (cyanogenmod, etc..) , i saw, usin Titanium backup pro that very little .apk were stored on the system, and one was called HTCZkeyboard.apk, or something like that. So i wondered if a similar small apk, ususaly hidden for no rooted phones, was existing for the keyboard backlight ??? Just a sugestion. And, if it exist, wil i have to put it in the good directoty without launch it with internal system commands ??
I'm not the king of SDK manips, so if one of you can explain me step to step how to proceed, i would be happy again.
I don't want to flash again my phone (many nights to do it and reinstall my softs) because this ROM is really stable and work fine with all (camera, softs, etc..).
So if s.one can help me ? Thanks
Sorry, my english is really bad.
Hi,
Reading through a few posts on the Jelly Baby thread this seems to be a common issue. That thread is the best place to ask if someone has found a fix or workaround.
( and your English is fine)
Good luck !!
Thank you Pony Express for answer me.

I did this for CM11 and PAC ROMS and maybe this will work for Vanir as well. I disabled the Lockscreen. problem solved...well not really, but it got rid of it for me. It also got rid of the Touchscreen issue after wake.
How soon do you think it will be, if ever, Nvidia apps will be able to be used in a custom ROM?
Shield tablet with Vanir Lock screen problem
Hi Everyone!
I've a problem with my shield tablet running vanir_wx_na_wf_4.4.4.101414...
The same problem appear with the stable version (older) of vanir rom.
The tablet go to the lock screen but sometimes the touch screen don't work...any ideas?
I've try the factory reset and the reinstallation of rom... Thanks!
Loaded Vanir onto my Tablet yesterday. Had the screeching and touchscreen issue within the first 4 hours. I can confirm my previous post that touch problem can be "eliminated" by disabling Lockscreen. So unless your providing logs and such to help fix this problem this is a pretty easy work around. If you dont like having a lockscreen though use the free version of attentive or another LS app that doesn't utilize android stock lockscreen. They don't seem to have any problems.
I tried to get a log of the problems after the touchscreen stopped but evidently I broke ADB on my computer and it cant find my tablet unless im in recovery.....so that's fun.
Bit of a dumb question, but would a feature like ShadowPlay work for the Shield Tablet build? I'm just curious as I've heard there are issues with the official 5.0 update that's making me want to move back (and many games I have don't seem to run well or at all still when using the Android Runtime). I appreciate any info you can provide.
Not Working
Okay so my Nvidia Shield Tablet 16GB WiFi is android 5.0.1 . Now I have tried every single ROM for this tablet but all it does is take me to the nvidia boot symbol, waits some seconds, restarts and repeats until it get to a dark screen. I have cwm recover and an unlocked bootloader! Please Help!
Ive been trying to build (CM not aosp) using a self constructed tree based off of the recent code drop, ill try adding some stuff from those lollipop trees and let you know if I get it working.
few dumb questions.....
first im still waiting to get this in the mail, but i was wondering if anyone could givve me some clarification about the builds on the vanir site to download ( emccannnet/nuclearmistake/VanirAOSPNightlies/wx_na_wf/ ) some say 4.4.4 and some 5.0.0 is the 12 20 build lollipop? as i would assume the name implies (vanir_wx_na_wf_5.0.0.122014 )
and then ( vanir_wx_na_wf_4.4.4.112414) would be kitkat?
and are the native nvidia apps working on these builds? ie console mode and controller support? and are they stable yet???? would i be better off staying stock rooted and waiting for the nvidia apps to get ported over? thanks for the time anyone spends helping me out here. muchly appreciated!!!
