[Q] T699 reboots on charge - Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G

I own two T699's, one looks a bit wore so I'm trying to replace it with a better looking one.
Found one on ebay but from the first second it reboots when going into the 'battery' screen (charge only when turned off)
I thought okay.. maybe a software issue with the phone, but now I already did the following:
- Odin flash it to an older version
- free Unlock the phone (using an european operator, this worked fine)
- OTA update to the newest
- USB didn't work anymore?? -> Odin to the newest
- USB working again, still unlocked
- ODIN TWRP and install CM11
- CM11 boots just fine (connected to the charger)
- CM11 gives no charging info, reconnect USB, now the charging icon is working...
- seconds later.. reboot
- works again.. no charging, reconnect charger... seconds later reboot!
-turn off, connect charger, see the charging icon showing up (full screen) reboot .. reboot.. reboot etc..
-turn on (no charger) check battery info in CM11, see this:

weird gap..
So my conclusion is that this phone works perfectly when it's not charging.
Is this a thing you can fix with software?
If no, but there is a hardware fix, i'm also willing to try it.

As in in the settings??
And from what else you have posted, it definitely seems like a hardware issue bud..

I also found another topic (not related to T699 but other samsung phone) same issue but they guy opened it up and had water damage.
He was able to fix it by cleaning the pcb's etc.
Since I have experience with this I opened up my T699..
And to my surprise there is a lot of 'sticky' stuff (think it's Cola or some other soda) so i'm cleaning it now with some PCB cleaning solution.
Will let it dry for today and hopefuly it's working tomorrow
Made some photo's as well to contact the ebay seller.. because this is not as advertised.. :silly:

[Q] Help: I Bricked My Device?

I've been hacking away at this Captivate for a month since I got it. Maybe a hundred times going into download mode. But, now I cannot get my device into download mode from the: "PHONE --/\-- COMPUTER" screen.
Here's what I've been doing since I've had the phone:
- Pull battery, sd, sim
- Put battery in
- Put USB in
- Hold both Volume and Power down
- Once the PHONE--COMPUTER screen goes black, wait.
- After it goes black one more time, let go of Power button
What is going on? Am I screwed here? I was applying the Ext2 (2.3) lag fix over JH2 when this happened, here's my CMD:

Of course! I even pressed "Allow" on superuser. The fix won't continue past a few lines without root access.
pull the battery, sim card, sdacard...
put in the battery, hold volume down, plug in the usb cable and keep holding volume down until you get into download mode.

Worked like a charm!
Super super odd. I've been getting taking this thing into download mode like every 2 minutes since I've had the device. Never had a problem till now!
Why wouldn't my usual procedure in the OP work? It always has for me?

I think those are higher level methods, something may have been messed up and keeping them from working.
I am pretty sure this method is a lower level method that will always work.

[Q] M601 will not boot

Hi,
My M601 (Wifi) used to work fine but one day when I charge it just doesn't display any more. I can see it can charge but when I press the power button it shows nothing.
Is there any way I can troubleshoot to find where is the problem??
Thanks.:crying::crying:
Is it defo off?? Is it not a screen of death?? Hold the power and vol up button and see if it resets. Do you get splash screen or nothing after doing this??
Nothing happened after "Vol-up, power" or "Vol-dn, power". No screen at all.

I faced similar issue , the only thing that was showing was the notification light when charging, after reading all the forums i decided to plug in a micro hdmi cable to the tv so that i can see if the xoom is working.
and yes it was working perfectly fine!!! i could see the screen on tv and the touch was also working but i wasn't able to see anything on the screen(XOOM)
then i finally unscrewed the 2 screws and opened up the xoom , i removed the lcd connection and plugged it again! and THAT WORKED!!!
REALLY!!! TRY That!!!
here is a photo that can help you , you dont have to dig up the whole system, just disconnect the lcd cable and plug it in and be patient please!

Need Expert advice on DIY for OPO

Hi guys,
Yesterday my OPO fell down on a busy street and ran over by truck, cars and bikes. The display is completely broken. I tried turning on after that but the phone is not vibrating.
I took my device to service center today, but he said he tried changing teh battery and boot but no luck. So display and logic board needs to be changed.
So I decided tear down and wanted to run few steps.
1. Tried booting with wall charger but without battery - not heating, not booting
2. Connected battery and no wall charger - no luck, board not heating.
3. Connected battery and wall charger - board heating but not booting.
In all the above cases the rotor on the bottom is not spinning.
Question
1. Why board heats in step 3?
2. I plan to buy the display and battery, how do I make sure the board is perfect. BTW the board looks perfect?
3. In all the above tests, the SIM card is inserted and waited for few minutes and tried dialing my number but it says Switched off all the time. Is that mean the device is completely dead?
Need constructive replies please.

If your device has really been ran over by truck or car, I don't think anything in the device will survive. (Maybe the plastic cover is flexible enough to withstand such pressure, but the motherboard is definitely not so strong although on the outside its not wrecked) As for the motherboard heating then wall charger and battery in, I suggest that it's because something is short circuited in the motherboard.

Only heating with battery hooked up sounds to me like you are on the right track. The chip packages don't have internal wires to break these days. Good luck and report back.
I received my battery yesterday, I tested it, no sign of notification light, vibration during turn on. I tried connected it to PC, but dont know which process to look at. Any help?
Update: The process is "windows driver foundation user mode driver framework host process" but it shows when connected by other android not mine [broken opo]

Keep it in charging for a few good hours and see if it goes somewhere in download or recovery. A hard brick won't even show a battery icon.
Without a working download or recovery mode, there is hardly any help.
Tried with another set of charger and cables?

[Help] Recover data from a huawei mya-l41 with a damaged screen and an unstable USB connection

Dear XDA forum,
Short story:
- Phone (huawei mya-l41) felt into water
- Recover for some days after a good bowl of rice
- Screen stops working completely afterwards#
- Got the phone to get back data (Unfortunately no backup was made )
Tests:
1. Preparation for connection to the PC
- Installation of MTK65XXX while in Windows Test Mode due to unsigned drivers
- Installation of adb/fastboot from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...vers-15-seconds-adb-installer-v1-4-3.2588979/
2. Connection to the PC
- USB Connection is unstable => crashes after ~3/5s
- Screen is not powering on
- Phone has already been charged for 2 hours to ensure power is high enough
- Trying to put the phone in recovery mode, but I'm not sure if I could reach it
- Being able to connect to the UART Port by luck in that range via Terminus https://github.com/Eugeny/terminus
and I can see the output "READY" printed out in series, but I don't know what it means

}
=> I tried to search on the forum with the keyword "READY" "ADB" "USB" but nothing interesting popped up
=> Searching in the Android source code will not help to, due to massive finds I guess
Any idea how I could proceed further?
Thanks a lot for any hints!
Rice may not work for drying phone. You'd better open it up and dried the sim and all that you could with a tissue. And you should also replace the battery if it has swollen.

I've got the phone after some days (1 week I would say) when it was not working as it's not mine. I expect the phone to be dry since there. The person already bought a new phone, he just would like to get back the photos
Good point for the battery! But it seems the battery has not swollen
