Hello,
just found this forum and hope to find help with my problem.
I received an OTA update from Jelly Bean to Kit Kat 4.4.2 three day ago.
I bought the phone in US but use it in Germany.
No problem for over a year with Jelly Bean.
Since the update the mobile data connection is not working.
I reset the phone to factory settings, mobile data is activated, APN is entered.
No connection.
WiFi works so far, but it seems from time to time it switches off by itself.
I need the mobile connection, otherwise the phone is useless for me.
Is there a possibility to flash it with Jelly Bean, or to get somewhere a Kit Kat version not Verizon based.
If I can't get it to work, it seems I need to get a new phone.
Any help or suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thanks
Urb
Hi there,
have you tried changing your network mode in mobille network settings?
I tried the kitkat update and had mobile data availiable in germany.
Next question would be, is your device locked or unlocked? If you have an unlocked device you could simply downgrade as I did.
Best regards
No mobile data after Kit Kat 4.4.2 update
Thanks for your answer.
Yes I tried to change through different network setting to no avail.
I used this phone for 1,5 years in Germany without a problem, until the upgrade to kitkat 4.4.2
I am not sure what you mean by locked/unlocked.
It's open for all network operators.
How can I downgrade the phone?
Maybe the OTE upgrade was faulty. It seems I can not use WIfi and Bluetooth at the same time, another bug?
I would try to install the system a second time, if thats possible.
It would be a shame to kick the phone, I was quite fond of it until this whole mess started.
Thanks
Urb
Please do the following so I can be sure if you are locked or unlocked:
1.) Power off your phone
2.) Power on your phone by pressing the power button and the volume up button simultaneously - you should be in a menu
3.) Press the volume down key twice and then once up
Now you are in the AP fastboot-mode. There you should find someting like "Device Status". It will read either locked or unlocked with a number.
If you are locked the only option you have is to stick on that firmware, but as far as I know you can reflash the entire kitkat update.

Follow this step by step. Please read carefully and double check every step.
Best regards
Thanks
I checked, it's locked.
I will try the link you recommended. As it seems the only way, I am not sure if it will work anyway. Just my suspicion that the OTA download was faulty.
Cheers

I hope you can get it to work properly again

Thanks for the support
Hi,
thanks for the link, I was scared to start the whole process, so I decided to check if another sim card would have similar problems.
It turned out, another sim card worked just fine.
I started to realize that it must be a UIE, or at least a partial one.
So I remembered that my current sim card, which has been working 1,5 years without fault, used to work beforehand in a Blackberry 9800.
So I guess the KitKat update somehow blocked the services, phoned the service provider, and they switched off the BB services in their system, since then the dataflow is ok, and I can enjoy my Droid. No need for replacement.))
But I will keep the link for future reference.
Thanks again for the support.
Cheers

Glad to hear that everything is working fine now.
Enjoy your Droid

Hi
I have had a bit of a disaster with my new Honor 6. It came with
kitkat, but I saw a link to install Lollipop for local update (ie don't
wait for OTA). (I am in the UK by the way)
Installed ok, but then the keyboard disappeared only voice commands,
and it seemed it was the Indian version. I tried to roll back using
B500 then to B396 but seemed to have intermittent problems connecting
to Google Play. I have had this before on a Chinese sourced Huawei
which I believe was because the firmware wouldn't allow authentication
with Google Play - well not more than once or twice, then would lose
it.
I have finally managed to get to build H60-L04V100R001C00B396 and it
*seems* to be happy with Play at the moment. I factory reset and oddly
it asked me to select the Vodafone type from a dropdown (including
prepay and postpay - wtf?) and couldn't get Vodafone data working until
I tinkered with the APN which I hadn't had to do with the original
install.
Bottom line : am I on the right version for the UK and should be ok
with google Play going forward - and will be able to upgrade to
Lollipop when it hits UK via OTA?
If not, what should I do?
Sorry for long post, but any help gratefully received.

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
I suggest you to ask over here: Honor 6, 6x Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting.
Good luck!
Hi guys, I thought I just got a heck of a deal when I picked up a 64gb Note 5 for only $75 today off of the app LetGo (kinda like craigslist). The guy I bought it from was very nice and showed me that everything on the phone was in working order and let me use it myself to test it out. I gave him $75 and brought it home only to factory reset it and Google Account lock it in the process. I believe it is currently on 5.1.1, no idea what security update. I tried the FRP bypass that uses Realterm as well as the wifi disconnect method and neither worked. Realterm doesn't seem to be sending the commands to the device. It instead just displays the command I sent in green lettering and nothing else. I am really getting hopeless now. The guy I bought it from wont answer my texts or calls so i can't get his gmail account or anything. I doubt it is stolen or anything due to the fact he gave me the box with the charger, s pen tips, sim tool, and everything. And yes, I checked and the serial number on the box does match the one on the phone. I am about to attempt to use odin to update it to 6.0.1 and see if the Realterm method works then. Does anyone have any ideas? It is for Sprint if that matters. Is it possible to root or flash a custom rom or anything to get passed this? Any help will be so greatly appreciated. This day started out so exciting and now is truly disappointing.
Thanks guys.
Ok, I got it figured out! I had to use odin and downgrade to N920PVPU2AOI6. Then downgrade bootloader to SM-N920P_OK3_BOOTLOADER. Then was able to insert a flash drive with the Google Bypass USB OTG.apk app on it into my phone. It automatically opened My Files when inserted, then I installed to app and bypassed it. The only thing now is in Download mode it still says "FRP lock: On" Although it seems to be fully functional and currently has my google account on it.

Greetings and welcome to assist. Glad you got your phone working, there are several guides on bypassing FRP on xda that may remove this message if you want to try them

Hey guys,
I have the SAMSUNG-SM-N915A model number and the stock version Build number LMY47X.N915AUCS2C017 Baseband version on my phone. It works like a charm after spending days trying other stock build version I found online that had so many problems restarting the phone over and over. AT&T is trying to force a software update to 6.0 on my phone which simply wont work as the regular software update bricks my phone for some reason. Is there a setting I'm missing the just tells the phone not to accept any software updates from AT&T? I'm almost positive this update will screw weeks of tinkering and I finally got it working with 5.1.1. I want it to stay this way. Any ideas?
Thanks

Go to settings/security.
You'll find the update settings in there IIRC.
closest thing I see too that is "security policy updates option which is already check off for automatic updates. It seems to be the Device management that's always trying to download the software update and force update. Is this a hidden stock application?

Sorry I took so long getting back.
It's been a while since my 5.1.1 days.
Check in the section that says about device.
You should find your updates on/off listed in there.
You might want to turn off the cloud sync'ing settings as well.
so my moms Honor 6x (BLN-L24) was gonna get sold since she upgraded, but the noob factory reset the phone from the factory recovery. no biggy, just log her back in. exceeeept...now it has no way of signing back in because her sim card isnt sending data, the wifi wont turn on and while she is bootloader unlocked...shes now FRP Locked and cant do anything in fastboot. so no restoring modems, system, custom recovery....nada
im not too familiar with Huawei devices, but im no noob to Android restoring/modding and such. well this thing is being hell because upon trying to restore any UPDATE.APP, its sits at "Installing update..." for a few minutes and then resets...never having passed 5%. so idk if its ACTUALLY updating (or downgrading, since ive been trying that as well) and at any rate, the wifi/data still refuses to turn on at the setup screen

I had a similar situation when I manually upgraded from Marshmallow to Nougat. I fixed it by doing the rollback to Marshmallow then doing a "check for update" on the phone and letting it find and install the Nougat upgrade.
You should be able to find the Marshmallow rollback instructions either here or by googling it.
Good luck!

we ended up getting our new phone plan and i put the sim in the 6x which finally allowed her to input her Google account and reset the device properly this time. the buyer wasnt too thrilled about the Wifi issue, but we took a few bucks off for the inconvenience. theyll either fix it themselves or leave it as is...either way, thanks for the reply even if its a little late xD
so i flashed to international rom then updated to android 10 and when i put in any tmobile sim card it says
Network Lock: This device can be remotely unlocked if eligible.
Please use the "Unlock" application to unlock the device.
Make sure the device has an internet connectivity to use the "Device Unlock application".
there is no unlock app on the android 10 open beta, im rolling back to android 9 to see if it fixes issue...
Rolling back does fix this issue but I am not sure why the issue exists in the first place. I did this yesterday - had the same problem and I used the rollback and phone was fine again.

Hey forgot to update the thread, yes you are correct. Just rolled back. Really sucks because Android 10 is a really big difference to me. I just sold my pixel 3xl and I'm already used to it. I'll probably give it another try when there's an update.
