Hey guys, i really need your help right now. You see, i think i bricked my brother's G2x.
2 days ago he asked me if i can update his G2x from Gingerbread to ICS. So as a good brother i said yes.
I installed the Eaglesblood http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575199 and went smoothly. The next day, he asked me to revert it back to stock gingerbread because he doesnt like the Eaglesblood because he said its too slow and he cant open some apps. I think this is due to the lack of RAM of the phone because its an old model.
So, what i did is open the recovery and restore in from the previous nandroid backup i did few days ago. What i didnt know is that i have also use the same SD card for backing up my sister's Samsung Galaxy S2. So instead of using the G2x nandroid backup, i used the Galaxy S2 nandroid.
Right now the phone only opens up with just the LG logo. please help me guys!!!! Can i flash the phone back to its stock rom? PLEASE help me!!!!
You need to restore using the NVFLASH process.

I need help/advice. I recently tried to update my Samsung Infuse to gingerbread and bricked it. AT&T reinstalled the original software and said I should try again. It bricked again. AT&T then gave me a new Infuse, but with the old software. I tried again to update and it bricked also. Then AT&T gave me a new Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket.
I'd love to root this phone like I did with the infuse, but I'm really reluctant to try anything after the above experience! If I try to root, how much risk of bricking am I taking? Are there ways to recover if I brick it short of going back to AT&T? What's the best method to use to root?
Thanx in advance for the advice/help!!

If it's a hard brick the only option other than att is mobiletechvideos jtag service. Read the stickies and search the forum before posting new threads. This should get you started.

If it were me, I would flash the ucld2 Odin one click.exe first. It is very stable and smooth. Then root that baby. There's always gonna be a risk of bricking. I've even has stock phones that seemed to brick outta no where. If you stay in the skyrocket section and only flash zips for our device, the risk of bricking is minimal, but there's always that possibility. Good luck too ya

Thanks lumin30
Both of you, bug Mobilicity for a stock image to restore your phone. lol. Wind won't give me one but maybe Mobilicity will.
I can get it to about 90% stock right now and I'm sure I'll get it almost there. The problem is this. To dump the stock phone, we need it rooted to gain access but the only way to get root on 2.3.6 with the latest patches, is to flash a rooted kernel, which is great but then prevents us from dumping the stock kernel. It's a catch 22. Need a hacked kernel to dump the kernel but flashing the hacked kernel erases the stock kernel. lol.
The package linked by lumin30 will get you rooted, and all the options from there are explained.
tnx

Hi,
I will check with mobilicity and see what i can do to get the files from there. I really doubt if they would do it for us.
Meanwhile i am trying to get the files from someone who has a official unlocked phone purchased which is carrier free.
He hasn't tampered with it yet.
let me see what he can do for us.
Thanks
I recently got a Samsung infuse that was already rooted. Firstly, I want it to restore it to original firmware because it seems to be having some problems. I then want to install ICS on it but i think it doesn't have the latest CWM. What are the steps to update the phone.
Thank you, and any help would be appreciated.

Moved to Q and A
I bought a LG G2X from someone and they failed to tell me the phone was rooted, I have no clue what to do with a rooted phone and honestly I don't care to have that access. Could someone please help me unroot this phone. I know enough about cell phones since I did sell them. When I got the phone it was in safe mode, I rebooted it and did a wipe of the phone and seen that it had superuser on it. I have all the information with the phone but not sure what to do so that I can update this device. PLEASE HELP! I can't afford to brick the phone at this moment since I have no clue what I'm doing. Thank you.
I'll tell you off the bat I do not know how to unroot this device. I will also tell you that this phone is worth its weight in sh*t if its not rooted. If you do a little reading around the stickies you'll see this phone is nearly impossible to hard brick. Most of the time a full wipe and reflash or nandroid save fixes the worst of issues. We have had some amazing developers create awesome software for this device that I think you would love to experience.

Thank you, the only reason i want to unroot is since I can't update my phone it keeps turning off for no reason and sometimes it will take 15 minutes to place a call, I need to shut it off or do a battery pull all the time for the phone to function, thank you very very much for your info I greatly appreciate it I'm thinking it over or I need to figure out how to upgrade while rooted

When you say "upgrade" do you mean the software on the phone or upgrading to a new phone in general? If you do some searching you can find some stock unrooted roms that you can flash I believe. If I were you I would flash vanilla Cyanogen Mod 7. It is the most stable ROM for this device and offers wonderful customization options. The only thing that will not work is blue tooth calling. You can find the latest nightly build at get.cm. If you wish to make battery life better there are great developers for this device who have manufactured some awesome kernels that can be overclocked and undervolted. I'm currently running CM7 with Trinity's MAX 1500 kernel overclocked to 1.2mhz and undervolted across the board. I get amazing battery life and buttery smooth performance.
Use ROM for recovery nvflash method to return to stock. Then you can update either OTA or using the kdz method.

No idea, this is the t-mobile lg G2X forum. You have the LG G2. Here's a link to the correct forum:
