Tiny Planet - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all.
Is there any App or any way to make a photo sphere looks like tiny planet?and if yes what way or app?

Hi,
It's possible with the stock camera app (Google camera).
If you are looking for an app, maybe:
Small Planet
Planet App
Tiny Planet

When you are in the camera app, press the camera icon and you will see the "little planet", the top icon:
You are on stock or custom rom?
If stock it's like above if on custom rom you need Gapps with the Google camera or download it on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera&hl=fr.

Not exactly, it's you who capture the tiny planet, hard to explain, launch it align the target in the square and repeat the operation, the pictures will be automatically taken... better is to try it by yourself
And to correct what I've said above I don't remember if AOSP or CM have the photosphere (I guess yes, but i'm not sure).

I think the OP is referring to once the photosphere is taken, instead of you being inside the sphere, how to turn it into a little planet (inside out) as if you were outside the sphere.
I've seen this and it looks great

Yes,i want to know how i can make the panorama or the photosphere looks EXACTLY like this.

I would also like to know.

The effect is called "Polar Panorama" and there are lots of tutorials online showing how it's done in Photoshop or Gimp.
I had a quick search for an app and found these...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lyrebirdstudio.tinyplanet&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jfreu.panoplanet (there's a free/lite version too)
I'm sure there will be others too.
Have fun

Well after searching a lot in my N5 and experimenting a lot with photos and editing them i found the way to do it in our N5 without any 3rd app or anything else.Just take a photo with the Photo Sphere. You need to take almost all the surrounding enviroment to work. After you are done with this LET your N5 make the photo perfect. Then go to your collection and in the photo you took there are 3 option, On the left side the edit option,on the middle the sphere mode and on the right the tiny planet option.
So basically the only thing to do to make it work is to take a photo sphere with all the surrounding enviroment have fun.

Haha, that's good to know!
I must admit, I haven't really played about with the camera too much on the N5 since I got it, but I'll make a point of testing this out at the weekend

i just tried it in a road full of houses. The result wasnt that good i expected. So i have to go somewhere more open for better results.

Outdoors, point the camera at a downwards angle and create a photosphere including mostly sky in the frame.

As far as I know you have to have a complete photosphere in order for the option to show up. I know I kept looking for it for hours and it didn't work until I took a complete one.

I have a few complete PhotoSphere photos, and still don't get the Tiny Planet option.
Can someone post one of their PANO_xxxx files so I can import and try?
EDIT:
Never mind! I needed to use the Gallery app and not the Photos app to get the Tiny Planet option

Also they just updated the phone to grab fish eye and another type of panarama.

I manually installed the apk by moving it to system/apps/ and set the permissions to the usual system app settings and it works just fine. Pretty cool accept is there a way to change storage with this to an SD card? It seems really basic. If not cool either way.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
I don't think any device that currently has a 4.2 build for it even have SD card slots, so it makes sense that option isn't included. I would recommend if you're running cm10/aokp that after you paste this into /system/app/ that you reboot into recovery, wipe the dalvik and fix permissions. The first time I tried this I had some rather weird glitches in the gallery, and a force close of the camera. After doing it over again with the dalvik wipe and fixed permissions, everything works fine. Haven't tried the sphere camera yet though.

I suspect not. Apparently this is from the 4 and there are no provisions for an external SD on a 4.

Upon further review, my camera locks up as well and the resulting picture is just all black. Gallery is the only thing working 100%. Just changing to the sphere camera setting causes an immediate FC.
I found a 100% version working on for the Galaxy Nexus, I tried it and I love the sphere mode... Wish it was working on my GS3
Where on earth did you get the 4.2 camera and gallery?
Anyone had success loading this on AOSP or is this like the stock camera that requires touchwiz? Also, i hope the sphere feature gets worked out soon because thats the most exciting new addition

i tried it on Liquid Smooth RC7 and it opened once, i took one picture and after that nothing but FC's
Edit: OP you might wanna add these libs to your post, people on androidcentral are saying that adding them to system/libs is helping other things to work

So what is not working with the sphere picture taking, it worked for me and I can view the picture. Running BlackBean v6 for reference.
Someone needs to combine those libs into the original file stat! Was thinking about giving this a go but I like saving to my external sd. For some reason I have weird probalems uploading pictures that are saved to the internal storage.
Kind of sucks they took out those front facing camera quirks. Those were fun, thanks for the upload!
Isn't Photo Sphere what everyone really wants? What other advantage is there to the new camera if that is no working?
To those who have tried photosphere, what's the total resolution of the picture? Does it get downsized?
It's not working that great for me either. I can actually grab the image using PhotoSphere no problem, but it comes out looking blurry and distorted.
Is there a certain process to follow when taking the picture?

GNex Version Fixed: Try on S3??
Here's where you can get the fully working version for the GNex.
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/10/31/download-camera-apk-from-android-4-2-photo-sphere-included/
If you follow the trail of creditied links it all points to here:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...-roms-hacks/220830-jelly-bean-4-2-camera.html
I'll fiddle with it a bit and see if I can get it to work on the SGS3 (US Variants), but the S3 has a crazy complicated way of handling the camera hardware so I will probably fail.

Maybe use Mood ICS LWP?
Here's what I did;
Take a full resolution video of phase beam from YouTube, download it, turn it into a gif, use image editor to crop the status bar and dock from the gif, change the hue of the gif (color) until it gets reddish color that we want, save it again as another gif, use AnimGifWallpaper 2 to set the gif as a wallpaper, and then: profit
But the video2gif conversion made the gif look like crap 240p quality, so that's where it messed up. But other than that it was all good. I could have upped the frames per second during vid2gif conversion but "ain't nobody got time fo dat" (take 60+ minutes to convert at full quality that I downloaded it which was 720p).

Don't switch the video off too soon! The guy first shows you a google play version of the app and then gives you a link to a free extracted apk version.
I just downloaded it and it works well, hopefully there is no malware in it!

[TUTORIAL] Fix your accelerometer/gyroscope!

Some time ago i wanted to play need for speed but my car started turning left. So i decided to do an accelerometer calibration but on CyanogenMod based roms that option doesn't exist. I saw that many users got this problem so i am making this little guide. Here is how to do:
1. Go to s advance advanced settings and check use calibration data under General > accelerometer.
2. Place your phone in a horizontal position and click calibrate.
3. Download this app from play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Test_Sensors
4. Open it, press menu button and click on other available sensors.
5. Click on 3 axis accelerometer
6. It will ask you if you want to calibrate it, place your phone in a horizontal position and click on yes. It will take 5-10 seconds.
7. Go to s advance advanced settings and check use calibration data under General > accelerometer.
8. Place your phone in a horizontal position and click calibrate.

nice guide
Thanks a lot man!!!
i used ita in a different phone and it works!!
I've had this problem with phones, but also with my DJI Phantom drone. You're not going to believe the solution that has worked for me in both cases: you gotta bash it!!
Yep, your silicon-based accelerometers have fingers that can deflect with G forces, but when they get a big impact, they can get stuck at the extreme bent side. You probably dropped your phone recently, right?? Well, you can probably fix it by dropping it again in exactly the right way.
You need to determine which side to drop it onto, and then drop it onto that side HARD onto a hard surface. You don't need to let it go, you kind of slam it with your hand. Do it at your own risk, of course, because you might break some other component!
Here's which side to whack it. For got sakes, don't just whack it randomly.
First, you'll need an accelerometer app. Install it and run it in metric mode. Set your phone on the table. Have a look at your values for X, Y, and Z. Two should be at near 0 and Z should be around 10 m/ss. The 10 reading is the table holding your phone against the force of gravity at 10 m/ss!
One or more of your numbers will NOT be as I stated, and that's the stuck accelerometer. It will be pretty much stuck and hardly changing at all, and it will be weirdly high, much greater than 10. ex: My X was at 167. (If you do not have one of your axis stuck on a very high number, you have a different problem, don't continue.)
If your X value is stuck sky high, hit the phone with the X+ (right) side onto the table
If your X value is a high number, but negative, hit the phone with the X- (left) side onto the table
The same above holds for Y and Z. Use the useful diagram that Lyricwulf posted on this page.
If you hit it sharply enough, you'll notice that it's no longer stuck on the super high reading, and you're all fixed
Look on the bright side, it's not a drone. Since propellers etc get in the way of a table slam, I had to hit my $1200 drone - HARD - with a rubber mallet when it had the same problem. But it worked!
Same problem here.. pls help
Same problem on my galaxy j1 4g (2016)There is no option for calibration in settings. How to fix this? Please help

Of course, had the OP linked to the main thread about this camera, you'd be able to find the versions that had some of the permissions removed because they're only really needed for the social aspects of the Gallery.

I've been quite pleased with Snap Camera HDR. Has anyone else given it a shot? It's a paid app, but considering the array of features it provides, along with a solid UI, $2 seemed like a steal. The free version is fully functional, but has an annoying 10 second delay at startup built into it.

Very great, and its dosnt need root.
very thanks brother.
you top
I tried many cam app on aosp, i have the felling that this one is the best one, for quality AND features. with the new google camera for photosphere/panorama, it is quite good.
i cannot compare to stock, cause i flashed slimkat less than 15 minutes after unpacking... is the stock camera much better than this one?
Comparing this to the stock camera app, I actually found the stock one took a higher quality picture. It's not a bad app though and has a lot of cool features, but I'm gonna stick with the stock camera.

the 3.6.6 is available, google it. I used the apk found on a galaxy S4 or galaxy note3 thread (apk, not flashable zip).
Works really great, except a few features to avoid cause they freeze the camera.
Oh cool, thanks for the heads up. I'll check out that newest one!

Basically I have created this application for my own purpose b'coz sometime I missing some precious moments while camera app opens, This application as name suggest very handy app to capture images in seconds without even opening camera application.
How to use :
This app have No UI or nothing else
Just Install as regular apk and create short cut on homescreen (or whatever way you find easy). Simply click on shortcut and it will capture image
Storage will be DCIM/Shoot_it/ folder
When image being captured screen will freeze for a couple of seconds, once it release you can recapture again. Usually image can be captured in less than 3 Seconds.
I have added two version for Fee users
1.No audio or flash
2.Auto flash with Capture sound (sound can be controlled with media sound)
Both version gived different package name if you want to have both.
Single Version for Pro users (soon)
Pro users will not have to install two version but only single application will do three job.
Pro users have single icon only same like free users but when you click on icon it will straightway capture image as well once first capture finish it will give three pop up icons for different choice
1. stealth mode (no flash or sound)
2. Shoot mode (Auto flash and sound)
3.Open stock camera application. (May not work on all devices particularly non samsung)
Pro users can configure their default action. e.g. on pressing shortcut/app icon how to capture first image like in stealth mode OR shoot mod. To set default action you have to just long press corresponding icon when pop up icons appear. Untill you configure this default action, first image will be captured in stealth mode. Also note that stock camera application icon can't set as default because it just launch application.
Download Pro

Thank you doc. Installed - and first photos done.
Is it possible to have (configurable) sound after photo is done?

Thanks a lot für this great app, doc.
Would it be possible to take a picture by pressing a hard button even if the phone is locked? Something like your torch light button on your 6.1 rom?

Thanks for everything you do for us doctor.
From K5 to K6 my battery life went bad. K5 was really good but after a dirty flash of K6 my battery life went down with less that 4 hours of screen time and overall 12 hrs of battery life on an avg basis.
Can the battery life be affected by a dirty flash. Because the kernel I've used is what came with the Rom without any UV

Hello Doctor
This is really useful app. The camera app sometimes feel like ages to open and for those quick captures this is great.
No one will notice you took picture as no sound flash or camera app open.:thumbup::thumbup:
