You can only use roms from the development section that have "VRUCML1" or "ML1" in the title. No AOSP roms and no Touchwiz 4.1 roms. Only Touchwiz 4.3 roms are compatible with Safestrap.

What someone recommends for you, you may not necessarily like. Best thing is for you to read the first post, or OP, of each available ROM thread and choose the ROM which has the features you like and interests you the most. Try it for a little while and see if you like it If you do, stick with it. If not, try another ROM. Only you will know what you really like. This thread has a list of safestrap compatible ROMs:

OTA Roms?

Are there currently any ROMs for the OTA version of ICS (4.0.4)? I've noticed that most of the ROMs say for the ICS leak only.
Thanks,
Adam

Please post random questions in the Q&A section. This section is for original development (or as close as we can come to it) only.
And, though it may not be stated specifically, all of the ROM's work on leak or official ICS.

So are you looking for like a recovery stock rom to fall back on?
No, i was seeing if there were any cool custom ROMs for ICS. Like, ICS based ROMs with more customization, deodexed, 1% battery mod, etc.

[Q] What ROMs can I choose from?

Hi, just bought a GS3 Verizon. I want it rooted, and working without well known bugs.(GPS, calling, almost no bugs) I prefer 4.1 jelly bean. What ROM should I choose? The ROM based on the leaked VZW ROM?

Stock deodexed j1 touchwiz...if you look around you can manually add what mods you want. I prefer this over flashing the custom touchwiz rom variants....seems less buggy and smoother imo.

I've been having good luck with Synegy's latest. Smooth, good performance, good battery, and just enough added functionality over stock to make it work well.
I liked clean rom, jellywiz, and my current rom tasteofbeans 3.1. They all were :good:

What about using separate mods makes it less buggy?

Because you flash them 1 at a time and if you flash one and it made everything bug out you can just nandroid back. If your on a ROM with a crap load of tweaks and mods and something goes wrong you're just screwed until the dev can figure out which mod he added is causing the problems. A lot of the time the mod bugs are left alone until all the big bugs are worked out and then they track down what's causing the smaller bugs

I knew I'd get this reply. I searched "Touchwiz" in the development forum and I am not finding any touchwiz UI roms. I mean I can go stock and root, but I was hoping to find a touchwiz roms with the improvements people usually add to custom roms.
thanks for the quick reply
Well there's galaxy mod, synergy, eclipse tw, delta two, beans rom.. Those are some that I can name from the top of my head.

You are not finding them because you didn't read the ROMs threads telling EXACTLY what these ROMs are based on. Most of the ROMs on the android development section are based on Touch wiz unless posted otherwise.

There must be some kind of miscommunication going on here. The first two pages I looked through not one ROM was using the TouchWiz UI. They're all the stock android UI.
Maybe I'm not asking the right question?
I'm looking for the stock TouchWiz UI experience, but without all the bloat and other crap that comes with it stock.

I'm staring at the first page of the dev section (not original dev) and I see a minimum of eight TW rom threads. If I understand you correctly, you just want TW with as much stripped out as possible right? If so, try CleanRom Lite Edition. Seriously debloated TW JB 4.1.1 rom.
You say "stock android UI", but stock for us is stock TW. AOSP is not stock for this phone.

That was my problem! I was looking under original development. /facepalm
I was a bit confused about what kind of roms belonged where, even after reading the stickied thread in orig dev. But I understand now! :silly:
So thanks for the help.

Haha glad everyone could help! Basically, OG development is for those who built from source or developed something truly unique. Development is for the items that do not fit into that category. Typically all kernels and most AOSP roms will go into the OG dev section whereas mods, guides, and TW roms go into the dev section.

Only you can chose which is best by actually trying out those. Different people have different interests/tastes.
As you said AOSP, every ROM is actually based of AOSP, like CM, AOKP, PA, Omega, Xperia ROMs etc.
Important instructions given by them(CM)
We'll not support users and answer questions from users which:
- are running a custom kernel
- have flashed mods
- modified system files
So what's the use if you can't use mods or kernels

What coolsandie said. I would suggest going to your phones forum and looking over some of the threads and trying a few out yourself to see which best fits your needs. "Best ROM" threads aren't usually allowed since the answer is always too subjective.
Happy flashing :good:

I wouldn't post this in any forum. You have to decide what's best by reading up on roms and see what features you like. A moderator will close this as they do not like people asking which rom is better. For the future I wouldn't post this again

Dude I told you once don't post things like this. Your liable to get in trouble

As noted by others, we generally close these threads. Why? Because there is no best; every ROM is different, and we ask that users take the time to learn and read about what they are doing, so they know what to expect (and what problems may arise). OP, do yourself a favor.. look through some of the more popular threads, and see what feedback the users are giving; look for bugs that may effect you or your favorite apps, and go from there.
