I'm using Moto G XT1033 Dual Chip from Brazil and the retail version
But I can't root. I tried a lot of guides and nothing.
I'm on 171.44.37 (Android 4.4.2 KitKat).

I didn't get root. I flashed with CWM but ir doesn't root.

Did you maybe delete root when leaving cwm? After rooting it asks you if it should unroot the system, maybe you clicked yes. Go into cwm again, flash your root ZIP, reboot and when it asks to disable recovery flash say yes, if it asks to unroot, say no.

[SOLVED] Can flash 4.4 over 4.3 without unlocking?

I want to get the 4.4 update on my new Moto G. But also i want to avoid unlocking the bootloader. I read somewhere that the system will let you flash a signed image without unlocking the bootloader, but i want to be sure, so i don't end with a soft bricked phone and have to unlock it anyways.
Can you help me?
EDIT: You can! Just flash the upgrade via fastboot and your phone will have the last iteration of Android witthot unlocking anything.

you don't have to unlock it if you are updating it through the update option inside the phone itself.

I know, but the phone comes with a carrier firmware that will take some time to roll the update, and I want to replace it.

I think you should refer to this video - http://youtu.be/-L44JqysUy8
It shows how to flash a rom without unlocking the bootloader. There are retail ROMS available from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14

How to unroot stock 4.4.4 ?

Hello. Sorry for the silly question.
I am currently on 4.4.4 stock (XT1033) ,rooted with cwm. I have taken a backup of stock image via cwm before installing Super Su.
My question is how do I unroot the device ?
What happens when I restore stock img via cwm ? Will it unroot ?
Thanks.
Why would you want to unroot?

Hello, i was following this thread 'cause i am interested in getting the OTA update (from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 ) . The reason is that i don't want to lose any data by flashing same firmware or new one when it will be availiable, and via OTA i would keep everything as it is now.
If i do unroot my moto g as you told before, will I be able to get the OTA update?
EDIT: I've decided to unroot via SuperSU , full and clean unroot option, and still it is uninstalling after some mins, shall I power off the moto g?

sorry if this is a stupid question, but if i've already unlocked the bootloader, and installed root and recovery but i didnt change/modify the original/official ROM 4.4.4 from my moto G, in order to get the lolipop update, i just need to install the original "stock" recovery or i will need to flash everything (firmware/radio/originalrom, etc) again? thanks in advance folks, im just new with moto g.
If you have stock recovery and unmodified system you should be fine with the ota, when it comes.

Listen to mw, if you dont wanna have trouble with the ota, flash entire firmware! Do that and you will see there will be no problem... Restore entire firmware before updating via ota.
Afaik you can also use CWM to update

Oh ok, well i guess i will have to do that, my motog is the dualsim type XT1033, i bought it on amazon, i asume it is the "brazilian" one nor the asian , but it would be any problem if it happens to be the asians one? or there is any different between these two? i guess i did the wrong thing (unrooting and install a custom recovery) days before loli pop update T_T
I guess the OTA notification still will show up even if it's recovery was modified
I guess the question is answered so we can close this one

My Moto G cannot update to Blur_Version.172.44.4.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US

My Moto G is running KitKat 4.4.2. System version is 172.44.4.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US
Bootloader unlocked. I received an OTA update to Version.172.44.4.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US. I download and install it. However, it keeps saying "Error" while installing.
Could anyone help me with that problem?
Big thanks.

Are you rooted?
This is exactly the error I encountered back then, when my phone still ran 4.4.2. It was rooted and no way I could manage to install the 4.4.4 OTA update. Maybe you can flash 4.4.4 manually. Your phone is XT1032, isn't it?

[Q] Help with root.

Hey, so i want to root my Moto G XT1033 16GB dual SIM running android 5.0.2.
I've bricked a smarthone before while trying to root it, so i want some help to root my phone the safest way possible. My warranty has already expired.
Obs: my phone is from brazil, i'm not sure if that changes anything.
I've attatched a screenshot if any other info is needed.
If you have a custom recovery installed you can flash it from there. Go here and grab SuperSU and follow the instructions.
