Change the Hang Up Tone? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying to change this annoying "Boop!" as its hang up tone. 3rd party dialers don't improve upon this. I looked under system/media/ui but there was no hangup tone ogg file there.
Any ideas please?

setting for sms sound notification

So here's the thing, on any cellphone, whenever an SMS comes in, a sound or tone can be set for it, and when you open the message, the sound stops. On an xda2, the sound just continues even though you already opened and read the SMS.
Can this be altered in the registry?
I cant use long SMS sound notifiers because, every time an incoming SMS is received, the whole sound clips plays and its annoying.
mate, you saying that the sound played for your sms is continuous but not repeating? that's what happens when the sound/wav file used for the notification is too long; i think the unit will keep on playing it until the whole file is finished. similar to your alarms; unless you click it off the unit will finish the sound or loop it (if you want it too). if this is the case you can just change the wav file assigned to the sms notification...a shorter one would help..
cheers
yup, its continuous, even after opening the SMS. A long SMS notifier would be okay, but as ive said, its annoying if while im reading the SMS, the sound still plays. Hope theres a workaround for this.
Yeah its really annoying when you can't stop the sound while reading the message! :?
I was forced to assign a 1 sec length wav file instead of my favourite sound
I wonder why they didn't solve this issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Turning the sound off when you go to look at the message usually works for me
well, its not that practical way to do so....!! :!:

2 different SMS sound

Can I change my the alert in SMS Request message delivery notification. to another sound soo I have one sound for SMS alert and another for delivery notification?

Probably not, simply because Delivery Notification is sent to you as an SMS itself.
not sure if i got this right but let me try...
when you say "sms alert" does this mean the sound the xda makes when you receive an sms? if yes then the sound and notifications will allow you to change the sms sound for new text messages. or you can use mortring to customize the sms sound for each contact.
the delivery notification which sounds off when you send an sms is actually named "default". it's a wav file; you can alter the sound by overwriting it with another file. normally the default sound goes "blip" or something like that . if you have a wav file that goes...say "ok"; what you do is rename this wav file in your laptop to "default". you then copy and paste this on the windows folder of your xda. the screen will tell you something like "there is a file with a name "default"; do you wish to replace this file?"...or something like that. click ok and the default sound should be the wav file you want.
btw; if you've upgraded to wm2005 you can't overwrite the files. i used to change the default sounds in the xda with wav files i like. upon upgrading to wm2005 i found that i could no longer do this...something about the rom being write protected...
hope that helped...
I have a sound for new text messages horn.wav but I like to have another for notifications. In settings ---> Sounds and Notifications there you can make 2 different sound for MMS one for MMS notify and one for MMS New message. But only one for New SMS message :-(
Is it possible to change someting in the S100 software?
In a Nokia there is only a bib for notify and another for New SMS message

Robson, I did just what you suggested and that solved the annoying "blip"my phone's been making when receiving sms. But my main problem is that the Sounds and notification settings on my phone no longer work. No matter what alert tone I put my settings to ( i.e Text messages/Activesync/Incoming call..etc) The phone always reverts to the "Default" tone. Can you pleae help me with this...or point me to the right direction as to where I can find more answers to "sound and notification" problems. Thanks...Loids

Just for info, in my Orange Universal rom, the sent message has different tone(cant be adjusted) than message confirmation(regular recvd msg tone)

Losing SMS & Email Alert Tones

Hi All, I've noticed that a few times my TC has stopped playing alerts for SMS & Emails. I've gone into the "alerts & notifications" page, and when I select the SMS or Email drop down and hit the play button, it still doesn't work. (Standard phone call ringer still works though)
As soon as I change the choice of alert, and back again, it starts working again.
Any idea what's causing it to stop, or maybe hang? I've tried using different tones, but it's still the same; works for a while and then doesn't.
try after changing u,r sound profile.
FWIW, I had the same problem with my Touch/Elf when using an MP3 for alerts. Sounds like a little software bug to me.
jefmcg, I've tried changing the MP3s to WAV but it still happens.
Alipi, you seem to be right, it happens after I've change to silent and back again. It doesn't seem to put the email and SMS tone back to normal volume.
Does anyone else have this issue?
I'm using the O2 profiles app to change profiles, as the HTC home one doesn't allow you to put any additional ones on. I like to have a "sleep" profile, which doesn't beep for SMS or email, but does ring the phone.
Open to any suggestions or workarounds!

Hi,
I have the same problem. But until today I though I´m alone . And I haven´t investigate that it arises after I switched form silent to "normal". Have to look into this as well...
Sorry, but I haven´t got any workaround, maybe someone else...
Pobably dont belong in this thread but i have the exact same issue/problem with my Tmo Wing, everytime i change the sms tone (incoming text) it works fine for the first 5 or so text but after that just goes silent when receiving new ones...a fix or advice would really be appreciated...i have no clue
UPDATE!
Ok, so I'm an idiot!
I thought I had deleted the mp3 versions of my ringtones and replaced them with wav files, but I hadn't. I've since done it, and whilst they do sound slightly different (crap converter?), it SEEMS to have fixed the problem....
...at least I've tried to move in and out of silent a few times, and the tones still sound!
So, guys, perhaps try converting them to WAV and go from there. FYI, my tones sit in the windows folder.

No - for some strange reason, ring tones need to be in \WINDOWS\RINGS, but SMS and other notification tones need to be in \WINDOWS.
Yet Another Update!
OK, so converting to WAV, only worked for a while, it did eventually stop beeping for texts and emails.
HOWEVER... philip gave me a great recommendation of PocketZenPhone, which is much more powerful at managing profiles, and especially on the text and email alerts, ACTUALLY WORKS!

[Q] Custom ringtone plays continuously after missed call

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there is a fix. I have a two week old Nexus 5 on 5.1, completely stock. I set my ringtone to an Mp3 "song" that I have in my music folder by going to settings/Sounds and Notification/phone ringtone, and selecting ES file explorer to choose the Mp3.
When I get a phone call the Mp3 plays as my ringtone as expected, and stops when I answer the call. However, if I don't answer the call, as soon as the person hangs up and the missed call notification pops up, the Mp3 I have chosen for my ringtone will start playing and will not stop. It just plays over and over. Exact same thing happens on my wife's N5 when we purchased the same time. Any ideas what's going on??

Ring and notification tones keep reverting to defaults

Hi everyone.
One real nuisance I'm experiencing is that, whenever I change the ring or notification tone, after a short time they revert to the defaults that were set when I received the new phone. It makes no difference whether I choose an alternative built-in tone or an MP3 one of my own.
It's really annoying because the default ones are so soft and bland that I often don't hear them. Also, how infuriating is it that there seems to be no way to select an MP3 tone except by endlessly scrolling through every single music track I've got stored on the phone. Especially when I've gone to the trouble of storing them in the in-built 'Notifications' and 'Ringtone' folders.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

Yes I agree the file system is so naive, it's not as intuitive as Samsung, Huawei, etc. The file system is half hearted at best.

Yes!! Highly annoying and not sure why it's happening or how to fix. I just want to change my ringtone and SMS sounds etc to different system sounds but they won't stick.
