Question about roms and 4.2 and 4.4 - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just recently rooted, flashed recovery, made it brickproof with nvflash and put my first rom(cromi x) on my tf300t.(woohoo) Im on 4.2 jelly bean and was wondering (1)can I flash 4.4 roms straight from 4.2 or do I have to offical update then do everything over again? (2) If I flash a 4.4 rom and did not like go back by a simple flash of a 4.2 rom?

[Q] TWRP patched 2.4.4.0 & flashing ROMs on 4.1 bootloader

I'm on the 4.1 bootloader and have flashed the patched TWRP 2.4.4.0 recovery for 4.2 bootloader.
Will I run into trouble when flashing 4.1 bootloader based ROMs? (i.e. should I use the "normal" TWRP 2.4.4.0 when flashing 4.1 based ROMs?)
Since you have flashed 4.2, Your choice is to either downgrade using the method listed here. Or Flash one of the two roms compatible with 4.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195883
There are only 2 roms compatible with the 4.2
Thanks man. But I havent flashed 4.2 yet, Im still on the 4.1 bootloader. I only flashed the patched TWRP 2.4.4.0 recovery as yet.
Ok, You know the patched 2.4.4.0 is for 4.2 right?
Yes I do, hence my question.
then you answered your own question.
yes you will run into truble flashing a 4.1 rom with a recovery meant for 4.2 the patch version changes the mount points.
Cheers guys :good:

[Q] Issues of 4.1 stock recovery with 4.2 ROM?

Hello guys.. I would be grateful if any of you could help me with your thoughts regarding this matter...
For security reasons I prefer flashing stock recovery and locking down the boot loader after I settle on a custom rom/kernel combo. Been doing this for a while and I dont mind building my phone up from the scratch when I change ROM.
With CM 10.1 stable coming up.. I think I'll finally switch to 4.2 in a few weeks time. I read on the forums that the file system change in 4.2 doesn't play nice with 4.1 recoveries and ends up creating duplicate folders all over the place. Now... I'll surely use latest CWM or TWRP to flash CM 10.1 but later... when I flash the stock recovery (v3e, i think the latest for our device) just to lock down my device- is there any possibility that my system would get messed up? As the latest stock recovery for Nexus S was released with 4.1.2 it isn't supposed to be compatible with 4.2.2 roms technically.
..enlighten me please! with my little knowledge, i'm unable to work it out in my head

[Q] Photon 4g Gingerbread to Jelly bean help

Ok i'm trying to upgrade my ROM from gingerbread 2.3.5 to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 I found a guide but can't finish what it says because when I go into recovery mode it takes me to the regular phone recovery mode instead of the Clockwork recovery mode (which i downloaded and installed per the guide). I'm really wondering if anyone can help me with this or know where i can find a better guide on how to upgrade my ROM. Is it even possible to upgrade straight from 2.3.5 to 4.1.2 or do I need to upgrade to ICS before going to Jelly bean?

[Q] Is there a guide to updating to KitKat from an older ROM of KitKat?

My dad's phone has a custom recovery and has a ROM of the version of KitKat before the OTA. Have ROMs been updated to support the official release yet? How do I know which ones are on the new or old drivers? Would it simply be to flash the ROM through the recovery, or do I have to go back and install the OTA, then flash a new recovery and ROM?
Thanks.

Swapping between 4.4.4 and 5.0

I'm rooting and running Dirty Unicorn 4.4.4 ROM.
If I flash a ROM that's using Android 5.0 and use it for a while can I then just flash a ROM using 4.4.4 and not have any issues? I guess i'm asking if it's possible to just flash any working ROM running on either 4.4.4 or 5.0 (swapping between them) and it work?
You'll need to wipe going between 4.4 and 5.0 custom ROM. Once you've set up new ROM once, and have Nandroid backups of both, you can go back and forth
