[Q] Another dumb question, perhaps? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, and forgive me if this subject has been dealt with elsewhere. I couldn't find anything. I'm pretty new to all this modding stuff. I have an unlocked & rooted Nexus 5 (KOT 49H). I already have Root Explorer and Titanium backup installed, but as yet no custom recovery. My question is this; if I flash a custom recovery to my phone, but stay with the stock Kit Kat ROM, will I still receive OTA updates from Google? Thanks in advance.

[Q] Broken Root

Hey guys I recently flashed the newest version of omnirom and I think it broke my root? When it first loaded up superSU was not present so I downloaded it and opened it but it said the binaries needed to be updated but it keeps failing. Is there away to fix this?

Hi,
Yes, try to flash SuperSU: http://download.chainfire.eu/382/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip, it should do the trick.
By the way wrong section...
Yeah wrong place to post your question

do not post these threads in the development sections. only if you are developing somwthing does it go here. questions go in q&a, same if you need help. something so basic as this you should have searched for, not a thread posted to original development. bad boy!

[Completed] How to request a new ROM?

I saw a thread a year back but I can't find it anymore.
I would like to post a request for a custom ROM for my tablet and need to find out what data from my tablet I need to submit. Currently no custom ROM exists for it.
Thanks

Maybe it's an "old" device. On XDA, such forums can be found in legacy devices.
Check if it's there.
EDIT:
You can always check General section, and ask your questions about devices without a device specific forum in the general Q&A section.

[Completed] [Q] Rooting my Nexus device "from scratch." few questions...

Hey, I recently got a Nexus 6, and instead of installing CM as I usually do, I'm going to try rooting and using Xposed. The trick is that I use Linux exclusively, so I can't use the one-click installers. It's a Nexus, so unlocking is a piece of cake, and I know how to use adb and fastboot to install a custom recovery.
From there, I'm not totally sure what to do. I downloaded the SuperSU zip from chainfire, which I'll install from twrp... Then... Do I need to install busybox or something? I guess I'll have to side load xposed after that?
Also, not sure what the update path will be after that. I guess rooting will break OTA... So what do I do?
Sorry for being such a newb! Thanks!
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. You can find your specific device forum here (bookmark/subscribe this):
Nexus 6
All information for your device can be found within that specific device forum. Within that section you will find a dedicated q&a sub-forum:
Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
I'd suggest you do some reading in your device forum, see if you can find your answers there. If you can't find your answers go ahead and ask your question in the q&a section I linked you to just above, that's the best place for it.
Good luck!

[Completed] Build LRX22c

Just took OTA update on 5.0.1 and lost root. Galaxy s4 M919V on Wind. Can anybody direct me to a thread to either downgrade or reroot? They reinstalled all that I removed. Cant even access TB.
Thanks in advance
Hi!
I can't find a specific thread on rooting your model, but I found this dedicated thread about your exact device...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303384
I suggest reading the last several pages of the thread and seeing what people are saying about rooting. If you still need help, you can ask in that thread too!
Good luck!
