m8 is more premium looking ,has great speakers n has lag free UI, camera is good only in night conditions n just ok in daylight conditions.
note3 has good camera, bigger battery ,screen. but comes with lots of bloatware and may lag at times while doing heavy multitasking. in gaming both phones perform similar.
I would go for m8 because of the design, front speakers, better UI,camera for taking better pictures at night (in day conditions it doesn't perform as well as note 3 but its not totally crap).
Thanks for the reply! How much better is the note 3's battery ? I'm a very heavy user

you'll get continues 9hrs of web browsing with note 3 n m8 . note 3's battery will last little more than m8 ,this is what I think. I read many m8 users writing m8 gives amazing battery with 7hr of screen time which is pretty good considering they used on 3g network & its only 2600mah.. both phone performs well in battery test but I would say note 3 would perform better.
take a look at this-
http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3-battery-life-test/
http://blog.gsmarena.com/htc-one-m8-battery-test/
I had One M7 and upgraded to M8. I am having amazing battery life (ARHD ROM) and love premium feel of HTC.
I was thinking about buying Note or S but I personally don't like that plasticky feel of Samsung. (no offense)
On the other hand camera on HTC is a bit crippled but irrelevant to me since I take pictures with camera not phone. For quick snapshots it works for me but might not work for others.

exactly. I'm using m7 & getting approx 6hrs of screen time so I was sure m8 will perform better with that amazing power saving mode .

i have the Note 3 sm-n900 and have good battery life and im a heavy user too... but i dont if the M8 battery is interchangable like the Note 3 is... being that the Note 3 comes with a 3200mAh battery, i have a backup battery i bought thru ebay that is a 4700mAh battery that is the same size as the OEM one that comes with it. so having a replacement battery (specially a bigger one) is a nice plus... Not even sure if you can even replace the M8 battery, but if so i hope you make a purchase that you can enjoy for a while xD

Which one should i go for?
Samsung Galaxy S2
Samsung Galaxy NEXUS
HTC Sensation
Motorola Droid RAZR
Which one has a better build quality, performance, display, roms and battery life.
thanks
The Nexus is my suggestion. I own an S2 but after using a Nexus for a few days I find it to be remarkable. The screen has higher res and the only drawback is a 5 MP shooter, which ain't all that bad but not best compared to the competition. And the biggest reason to buy a Nexus- timely updates from Google without having to wait for your OEM to dish a version with their custom UI.

Samsung Galaxy S2 is my choice if I want to buy.
Good quality
And I always say NO with HTC
SG2 is your best option
Why not the S3? I mean, if you already have the S2 I doesnt recommend the change but if you are going away for the Atrix hell, why do not entre in S3 heaven directly?
The battery life on the S2 and S3 are out of this world.
I have a GS2 but I wish I got the Nexus now. Only because it's Google branded and you're always guaranteed the latest firmware. In my opinion the design on the Nexus is better than the GS2, but obviously the S2 camera poops on the Nexus. But if you aren't going to use it that much them who cares?
Plus the resolution on the Nexus is higher.
Your decision though!

Lol, S2 battery life sucks! I charge it all night from 0% to 100% and use it for 4 hours and I'm already down to 25%! All I've done is text, go on Twitter and Facebook (10-20 mins each) and then just left it locked.
I ordered the 2000MAH battery though. Hopefully that extra 400MAH will get me through a day at school!
PS. No Widgets and the only thing that syncs (hourly) is GMail.

Agree. I've heard the same stuff on S2 battery life and my friend who owns one told me it sucked.

I cant say much about the HTC or RAZR because i have never played with them, but i used to own an s2 and got rid of it for the nexus. I am so happy i switched to the nexus its definitely the better phone. The S2 may have better hardware, but whats the point of having better hardware if your going to be stuck with the old bloated down software. My nexus runs faster than my s2 and the battery life is much better.
Thanks for the suggestion so now i will decide b/w Nexus and S2 but only one thing that i don't like about Nexus is that its has no sd card slot.
NEXUS
Samsung Galaxy NEXUS coz its the best phone for modding...
HTC Sensation...nice yeah

Yes that's the Achilles heel for the Nexus. The only 2 things that you have to compromise on a Nexus, the slightly poor camera and the ext storage.
See if these are 2 deciding factors for you and go ahead. I for one haven't used up the 16 GB on my S2 so having a phone without ext storage isn't a big deal.
Else if you're willing to wait, get the next Nexus Let us know what you decide on.

Are you tied to a contract at all with your N4? The specs appear to be better on the newer phones, but you must hold strong and stay away from hype and read some good Vs. reviews. Personally I'd hold on another year to the N4 (quality, solid, well supported device) and see what next year has to offer.

I used HTC One V, X and S for a certain period of time. They all worked without any problems, except for One V, that one was feeling a bit laggy, but it's the first device in the HTC One line and has only 512mb of RAM. Anyway, I would go for the HTC One

I understand but what might be a better performer for me may be different for someone else and previous devices don't matter, now is what matters. All the reviews online will help you more, trust me. And the nexus 4, HTC One and galaxy s 4 are all fast phones so it won't even matter. What matters is if you like stock android, if you like sense or touchwiz, if you're ok with a plastic phone or if you need a premium looking phone, if you need the best performer in the camera... there are so many factors here and again we all have different opinions, even some of us are having a hard time choosing but if speed is what you're looking for than the nexus 4 is very fast I can tell you that now.

not joking, huge improvement from Galaxy Note 1 / Galaxy S2
CAT-4 LTE, the removable battery and expandable storage (though the battery life on this thing is so much better than my GNexus that I doubt I'll ever need a second battery) all played a big part.
However if I'm honest, I'd figured I was getting a phablet way back in may but I was torn between the Note 3 or the One Max - I loved the design of the One and yes, the non-removable battery and non-expandable storage were sucky but I figured if they released a bigger version of it, I'd be sold.
Then IFA came and went and HTC announced nothing. Then rumours circulated that it would have a downgraded processor and after seeing the Note 3, I decided I'd waited long enough.
I'm pretty sure the exact moment I made my mind up (And this will sound stupid) was when I seen that it had a USB3 port instead.
I'd planned not to get it but it's just so damn gorgeous looking I couldn't resist. Display, s-pen and battery life are all an improvement over the Note 2 and I have 32gb internal storage now so all good.

my opinion
Samsung galaxy note 3 is an all rounder device..has almost everything..
sony z1 and lg 2 are also very good but lacks some important features..like lg g2 doesn't have external sd and sony z1 display is not as good as Samsung(personal opinion so pls don't start an argument)..and i watched many reviews where they claimed the sony z1 camera is not as good as what sony is claiming..
on the other hand, Samsung has s-pen and unique multitasking features..
in my country lg g2 and sony z1 both are cheaper than gn3..but i still bought gn3 as it has everything i want..and lacks nothing (although ois in camera wud have been a nice addition)
I know these threads drive people nuts. I'm a phone junky. Over the last 2 years I've had at least 4 phones. Although i've had my HTC One since launch day - coming up on one year.
I hate skins on android. That's why I root and install an AOSP based ROM on my devices. I also like battery life and A2DP Bluetooth streaming.
So...anyone out there think the nexus is a worthwhile upgrade?. I'm already running KitKat. Software is no advantage the Nexus has. However... Is the Nexus a worthy upgrade? I have read that battery life was disappointing at launch. Is it still bad? What does the N5 offer over my One?

My 2 cents give the nexus the skip.
i had the htc one and the gs4.. sold my htc one to get the gs4.. then sold my gs4 to get the nexus 5.. i think the n5 is way better the both the gs4 and one.. thats just me.. this is my first nexus phone i love it.. i been threw like 6 top of the line phone in the past 3 yaers.. htc evo 4g.. htc evo 3d.. htc evo 4g LTE.. GS3. HTC ONE.. GS4... Nexus 5 is my fev phone out of all of them
I went from the GS4 to the N5 and haven't regretted it for a second. Out of 12 phones that I've owned over the last 3-4 years, this is easily the best one.
Get the N5 and keep the One.

Let me tell you a story:
Once upon a time, there was a guy who wanted an awesome new android phone. He decided to buy an HTC amaze as that was probably the best phone on the market at the time. He got it 1 month after the phone came out on the market and it was awesome. He enjoyed using it for 9 mos. before HTC decided to stop supporting their FLAGSHIP phone! Alas that phone was relegated to ICS forever.
Then, his girlfriend wanted a new phone and he thought, well, maybe it was just my bad luck to buy the HTC amaze right before HTC decided to realign their phone offerings. The HTC One S looks very good and it has the latest snapdragon S4 chip in it. So he bought her that phone and 9 mos later, HTC announces no more updates after android 4.1.2!
Moral of the story: stick with HTC one if you want an obsolete android OS in 1 year.

Battery life is as good or better. I still have my One and mainly use it to play music, but the Nexus outperforms it in every way and also seems to have a better antenna than the One. Plus, the Nexus has ART which I know is not supported on the HTC One because of Sense.
It's a very worthy upgrade. I do miss the speakers, Aux Sound Output, and sometimes a few 'Sense' things like BlinkFeed and the features in the stock messaging app.

However, if you're satisfied with your One.. just keep it. Unless you're dead set on having stock Android. The One does have some nice features, like the speakers (yes, stereo speakers) and very good build quality, compared to the Nexus 5 at least, which doesn't seem to fit together perfectly like the One.
As for battery life, I would say it's about equal. They both have the same size battery.

Good luck getting a 90% working ROM for the phone once htc stops supporting it. The Amaze and One S ROMs all have major things broken on it, whether it is Bluetooth or camera or something else not working or not working correctly. So I would say software for HTC phones are important.

The HTC One does have the benefit of being a GE supported device. Can't predict how that'll play out yet. Besides that, you statement is accurate. I came from ATT with and Atrix4g... the hardware is still great. But zero software support from the OEM and all the ROMs available aren't DD material for someone that uses their phone as part of business.
Hence the move to my HTC One on Sprint/Ting... Just to find out that I should have bought a cheap used nexus s and waited for a N5. :/
The way that I understand the GPE phones work is that Google releases the operating system to HTC and then they optimize it to work with their phone before they push out an update. So updates still have to pass through HTC. If they decide to end support for the one, I doubt they'll continue supporting the GPE phone.

That's just it. Even though the UI of the GPE One is all Google, it actually uses the stock Sense kernel. Once HTC stops updating the phone, it stops for the Google Edition as well.

It's a downgrade in my opinion. Touchwiz is really, really bad.
It depends what you want to do with the phone.. Are you trying to run custom Roms. Root has been achieved, but not sure if Knox will be cracked to get to the bootloader.. I would wait and see how it goes. The new HTC one may be a better route. I know you can use bootstrap to run customs Roms. I just don't think they run as good as when you have an unlocked bootloader.

I played with an S5 in Best Buy yesterday. Definitely a downgrade. It's still stuttery like other galaxy phones, the new touch wiz leaves a lot to be desired. do you really want to change your $350 phone for a $600+ phone with nearly the same specs, some more gimmicks and a fugly UI? what will you use the extra 200MHz for? you wont feel the difference between the N5 and S5. well, maybe the N5 will feel smoother, since the new samsung crap UI appears to be choppy at some points. Quite honestly, after all the issues I had with samsung, I'd never consider going back to their devices. nuh uh.
If I got an S5 for free, I'd sell it then buy the Nexus 5.

Samsung can cripple any device`s speed with TW, i like Sense 100 times better tbh.
i have both a n5 and a s4. sure, by specs, the s4 holds its own, and appears to be better than the n5. but in reality, even with the s4 optimized and all the crap disabled, the s4 tends to lag and stutter. it feels like a phone from a few years ago, by the amount it tends to stutter. it doesnt feel like a phone with the specs it has. the n5 truly blows it away with real time use.

I had S4 GE in past and now on Nexus 5. They are exactly the same in terms of software.
The only downside, a new version of Android comes earlier to Nexus than to GE device.

How a snapdragon 600 can be better than snapdragon 800 ???
First, do what you want....we can't decide for you. ?
Second , it seems its getting harder and harder to play with new phones....some may never see root, or there will be complicated hack ways to root. Yes, many have dev type editions....but development for them is slow and limited. (Like moto x say)
So, if you like flashing and playing, the only sure bet now days is a nexus. If you can live with a quiet or non existant development community..... Then there's lots of great phones on the way or out. ?

And personally.... If there's a chance I'd be stuck on touchwiz.......no way would I touch any samsung again. Lol
