I have a weird problem. I am using my Xperia L, running 4.2.2 with the latest officia - General Questions and Answers

I have a weird problem. I am using my Xperia L, running 4.2.2(Out of The Box) with the latest official Firmware. Its not rooted.
4.2.2+ supports moving Apps to SD without Root.
I have Noticed one thing. If youre going to Buy a New Phone Running 4.2.2+, If you start the phone for the first time(just after buying), with no memory card, after youve switched on the phone and try to move Apps to SD, it wont Happen!! The apps will only move to the Internal Storage.
But,if you start the phone(For the First Time) with memory card Inserted, then it will recognize the mem Card as Your external storage. From settings now you can move Apps to SD.
Why does this Happen??
Can anyone help me to solve this??
Thank You in Advance.

The problem is weird indeed... never heard of it..
1. Are you trying to move the same app in both the phones?
2. Ig.you really want it.. just put your mmc and factory reset

Factory reset Is an option i Know but I wanted to Know if Other solutions Existed.
I tested It with Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 and Moto E , by Inserting the Mem card first, Then Starting the Phone (for the First time). For Both of the phones, the Mem card was taken as the external and apps could be the Moved to SD via Settings.
But for my Xperia L, I didnt insert the Memory card and switched it on(just after buying) . When I inserted the Mem Card later, and tried to Move Movable apps to SD, the apps would only move to The Internal Memory.

Are u interested in rooting? If yes I'd suggest do that.. many advantages of rooting ... sorry for diverting from main question :/

Rooting is Okay for Me. My a89 Was Rooted. But I Thought of Using my Xperia L for Sometime Before Rooting it and Unlocking The Bootloader. Even Cyanogenmod 11 with 4.4.2 Kitkat is available for my phone.

I think u should take a step ahead and root it.
Go for kitkat.. you'll love it.. and share your experience

What do you mean you want to move them to the internal sdcard from the user data partition
Dont you have the move to sd button in settings - applications?

Have you tried those super app2sd programs?

Yes they don't allow me to move it aswell
Sent from my ST26i using xda premium
In link2sd, there is a new option where you can see encrypted apps (jb only), and cannot move it. But, create link somehow works, moving it link2sd way.

I am not sure if this is the same problem as the OP described (i will repost if necessary), but i am having a similar problem where the phone is always out of space for app updates and new installs. It also re optimises all the apps on reboot and the strings that name all the storage devices are wrong.
Personally as a PC guy it sounds like the apps are being installed to the phones RAM (or equiv) and am wondering if anyone could comment on my hypothesis and provide a possible fix.

is is true you cant move apps to sd card on xperia l?

ok, so basically u cant move apps to sd card? as u can see from the screenshot i took below from my htc desire x, there are 'move' options to move the app to sd card. does this option not available on xperia L? so that is why this phone is hella cheap?
pls answer cause i want to buy this phone

Post gingerbread, google has removed the support to move apps to SD card. Only Samsung is giving that option to Galaxy S4 after 4.2.2 update

what do you mean by post gingerbread? i can still move my apps to sd card (some of them cant cause move option grayed out) in ICS, heck i can still move my app to sd card in jellybean as u can see from my screenshot above taken from my htc desire x running jellybean 4.1.2.
im confused. so therefore your saying there are no 'move' option if you go to settings>apps>any third party app>move option on your sony phone?
can you pls confirm this by downloading the app AppMgr iii from play store and post me a screenshot of 'movable' from your xperia L?

There is no option dude. By sd card maybe your DX is giving you option to move your app to internal storage from device memory.

now i understand why xperia go, U, Sola are much expensive than xperia L. cause they can move app to sd and L cant.

what if i root xperia L and use third party app like Link2sd to force move any app to sd with android native app2sd? can it worked?
im not talking of creating a second partition to use link2sd no i meant i use link2sd app only for the native app2sd method. because with root, you can force move any app to sd with that app link2sd. can it be done with xperia L?
as you can see screenshot above, the app AngryBusters are saved on my phone storage and it originally cannot be moved to sd card because the 'move' option from the app info are grayed out. but with root, and link2sd app, i can force move it to my SD.

Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368262 It switches your internal memory with ur sd card. So moving apps to internal memory is actually moving to sdcard.

Memory Secrectly Drying Up!! PLEASE HELP

I'm Not Sure what this problem actually is about ?! But Something is secretly eating up my memory ! I've never come across such a problem before! I had nearly 60+ Mb free In my internal Storage , But yet One day It showed Me as 0b and so then I deleted an app Of 23Mb!! Next day it showed that my Phone memory is low , But I've nearly 66Mb left in my phone storage! To get out of this I transferred an App from phone to internal which was about 17Mb .. And in that case my internal memory would be 6 Mb left !! Then today again my internal storage became 0b Please Help me !! Though I have 66Mb left in my phone I'm not able to use it And also nearly 60+ Mb in my internal which is lost and now I had to delete one of my file to take the screenshots too and another 3Mb is left as of now! Please help me please! My phone (Xperia J) is rooted with UnlockRoot pro! And I also use an App called "USB TUNNEL" for reverse tethering!! Please Please Please help me !!

The most logic solution would be to root the phone and swap sdcard with extcard.

This happens to me every day.
It's pretty easy to fix.
I use this app called Android Assistant to delete the 'files' that eat up the memory.
Download it, go to System Clean, and you should see an enormously large amount of data assigned as Thumbnail cache(in my case it was 957MB!)
Simply tap on 'Clean' and you should be good!

Your XJLo bootloader is locked or unlocked?
Im also from India ! Actually update for the apps like album ,videos and walkman and also small apps are not yet available for XJLo But i atleast have JB!

Yeah, I guess he 's right.
You can manually copy over (and overwrite) the files to the device from the .zip, but then uninstallation becomes a problem, since that HAS to be run from CWM

[URGANT]I727, want to remove partition

So I have two phones, a note 2 i317 and a skyrocket i727 running cm 10.2. I recently flashed cm and with that I went around to installing my apps. And after installing just a few apps, and I get the error, "insufficient storage available". I look in my storage section in settings and I discover two internal partitions, both labeled internal storage. One has 1.97GB available and one with 11.24 GB available. The apps seem to install only in the smaller of the two partitions. And in my manage apps section there is an option to move apps to SD card even though there is no SD card inserted. Of course all apps don't support SD card moving so this creates a problom. How do I remove one of these partitions so I can install more apps? View attachment 2323488View attachment 2323490

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Core (rooting and customizing)

Few days ago I bought a new Galaxy Core (GT-I8262). Everything is running good except for the shortage of storage. .. I'm a game freak so I'll need lots of space. But the phone only have 5GB internal storage. ONE game with 2 Gb is all I can have. . I have a 16GB microSD card. But after searching multiple sites, I got confused whether I would be able to move our link apps to microsd or not. I really need the storage. So if someone expert or have done these could provide me a feedback on what should I do. .. plus would I be able to update my firmware after rooting if Samsung publish. Thank you.
If u want to root your Samsung galaxy core... : Download (Framaroot. Apk) install it on your phone open Framaroot application therefore select gandalf.. reboot your phone manually.. Yeh your phone is rooted now... Say thanks..link___

Galaxy core comes with emulated storage. You need a custom rom which supports moving of apps 2 sd. Unfortunately, the stock Samsung rom doesn't allow this.
