Enable App ops+ Stock+ Rooted - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I've been at this for a little while and I have not made any headway. I know this should be in the developer thread but I'm unable to post there due to lack of post.
My goal is to get App ops back onto a stock+rooted rom by this method.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...tmctr=(not provided)&__utmv=-&__utmk=22201272
I am able to decompile settings, framework and com.htc.resources but once decompiled i cannot find Settings.smali to make the changes.
When decompiled in the settings folder I have the android manifest and a res folder.
This is the first htc phone I've had so maybe I'm over looking something. I know the original post is using a Nexus but I think I should be able to at leaf get to the editing point.
I'm running ART which rules out Xprivacy since it runs off of xposed and I prefer to edit this in rather than running a closed source alternative.
-Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

As an update I was able to get into the settings.smali however the code for Sense is not the as what was linked in the above article.
Does anyone know the edits needed to achieve this in Sense 4.4.2?
I can supply the settings.smali if needed.

Are you trying to do it this way because you don't want to run the Xposed Framework? There is a module which will do this for you here.

Correct, I'm running ART which Xposed Framework is not compatible with.

Stupid Question - Unrooted Themes?

Yes I'm a Droid Noob, so please forgive my ignorance. But there is no way to install/use themes on a stock phone. I thought this was an open source UI?
yep, it is an open source UI, you are more than welcome to add Launcherpro, or adwlauncher or other apps to change your android experience. However, changing UI colors and fonts requires access to the framework of the software. HTC cant just let developers have access to the framework, that would create a security hole in the software...so by rooting your phone, you are trusting the developers here with the tricks and nacks they've developed in roms and themes.

Click to collapse
Technically, this is not an open source UI. Android which is the base operating system is open source, but the entire Sense UI is closed source (i.e. proprietary).

[Q] How to edit Framework files?

I was wanting to make a complete port of the optimus 2x theme/framework. How would I go about doing this? what are the most basic changes I could make to start this?
I have Ubuntu setup and Android Kitchen JDK/SDK/NDK etc.
Most basic changes would be swapping png files around. After that would be editing xml files. I don't know about you OS, but I use APK Manager to decompile and recompile. And I use EditPad to edit the decompiled xml files.
Next step up would be smali, and after that is beyond me. There are some very talented themers in the G2x area that might help you; KingDavid63, bmann_420, and mmapcpro are the first 3 off the top of my head.

Help needed in creating customised XBMC Gotham apk

Hi there,
Great forum and such a superb source of info, keep up the good work.
I am a newie, I would like to modify the standard latest stable release of Gotham apk to incorporate some new skins, video addons, sources etc.
Hence I need to extract apk, make changes, sign apk and install apk on any android device with full functionality.
i have done a lot of research and have been trying with APK-Multi-Toolv1.0.11 for extracting and after modding then repacking in to an unsigned apk and then using SignApk to sign app.
Problem is if I make the smallest change like even add a background or add 1 video addon that should work in gotham although my apk installs it doesn't work properly. i.e no video addons work.
i know my signing tool works because if i extract and repack and sign without changes then apk installs and works....i am no coder or programmer but these are good tools and don't know why they aren't working to customise gotham apk...is it that gotham is made not to be customised?
any help/guidance/tips much appreciated. thanks. al

[Completed] Mod on Third-Party Apk

I'm new to reverse engineering and XDA trying to learn by making edits to apps for my own personal use. I have an app that uses and installer and the installer then downloads the apk. I've got the decompile, edit, recompile and sign down. I need some advice on what part of the installer/app I need to edit to identify which app it should install. Any direction would be appreciated.

[SAMSUNG] Where to find Java code of a system application?

Hello there!
Today I'm asking this question because I didn't found a question like this on XDA, and I was wondering why.
However, this is not so obvious in my opinion!
I know that you can find the Java code (in some sort) in the apk file.
But I checked some system apps (i.e. TouchWiz Mass Launcher, SystemUI) and I didn't find any code into these apk, only XML, resources, drawables and stuff.
So where can I find it? I'd like to modify system apps to add new features, not only for theming
Thank you in advance.
(P.s: Please avoid "U should install xposed its mor easy" thing because I do know that and I got it already. Just answer - or don't-, thanks)
