Just wondering if anyone has been able to get the MMS outgoing portion of the ported Galaxy S5 Messenger to work on his or her Sprint S4. Everything works for me, but when I try to send a picture message, and then I get a message saying "Whoops, Low account balance" However, I can receive picture messages just fine.

Use these two files. Place the SecTelephoneProvider.apk in system/app and set permissions and place SecMms_Blue.apk in system/priv-app and set permissions. Then reboot and you are good to go. mms works as well.

Edit: All seems to work but every now and then I get "unfortunately messages has stopped.." any way to fix that?
**Crashed more after a few minutes.. Went back to stock mms.

That is very weird. I have not had that issue at all. I am on I9500 stock odexed and have no issues other then safe mode fc'ing. You could try clearing data and cache of the app and see if that helps. I took the apks from a rooted s5 rom and have had no issues. Sorry it didn't work for you.

Ive got the Triband version anyone know of a way to make this stick on it. Because when i tried to replace the stock one with the s5 one it force closes and i had to odin back to stock. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I was only able to get it working with the NAF firmware. However it kept crashing when I upgraded to NC6. So I just went back to NAF.
Also for some reason on NAF firmware both SecTelephoneProvider.apk and SecMms_Blue.apk have to be in the system/priv-app folder.
So try this using Root Explorer
1. Delete or Rename SecTelephoneProvider.apk to SecTelephoneProvider.apk in the system/app folder
2. Delete or Rename SecMMS.apk to SecMMS.apk.bak in the system/priv-app folder
3. Copy SecTelephoneProvider.apk and SecMms_Blue.apk to the system/priv-app folder (You don't have to rename)
4. Change permissions on both files to rw-r--r-- and then reboot,
Now it should work great!!!
Tried this on Sacs Version 6 and cannot get it to work... somebody mentioned pulling the Messenger database from another Rom but not sure how to do that....
i have modified this and created a dark version. i may tweak it some more, but for now it's fine.

I know there are ways to get sprints Visual Voicemail application to work with different ways of going to titanium backup and what not.
This is just a zip I put together that IS FLASHABLE, so you just flash, and enjoy. I see a few people have had troubles with getting this to work other ways.
Hopefully this helps.
This is confirmed to work on 2.3.4, 2.3.5 & 2.3.7 based roms.

Instructions
1) Download aosp-vvm package
2) Place anywhere on your sdcard.
3) Boot into recovery
4) Flash aosp-vvm pack
5) Reboot
6) Open "Voicemail" application in your app drawer.
7) ENJOY!
After opening the application (Step 6) it will provision your voicemail, this may take a few minutes, be patient.

I know that you can install the gapps with the VVM that works. I put this up that don't want to re-flash gapps.

Got it working! Didn't wipe, may have caused it, but I got a boot loop. Just had to reboot through fast boot. Boot boot boot boot... haha, bit tired and delirious.
Just curious but the script said it was doing something to the system? Struck me as odd, probably just because it adds it to system apps instead of data?

Why does mine keep coming in as text and voice mail. i get a text from 9016 saying i have new vm and than it comes in on the actual app.

I have the same problem, and I do not have handcent txt app. I know that app was the reason for the 9016 txt for some ppl.

I finally found a fix for the annoying 9016 text messages! U have to grab the MMS app from decks 1.3d beta AOSP rom and replace the one in cm7 with it using root explorer. I tested this and it works guys. No more 9016 texts!

I like gvoice better but my status bar is always white. I'm never connected to Google servers and never get my voicemails. I have to hit refresh.

I had a whole bunch of problems with Gvoice when i tried it! It took over my calls and vm and was really annoying to use. I had to call Sprint to take it off the phone. VVM is flawless imo and now i got it working perfectly on CM7!

Here is the exact one i am using. Remove stock one first than replace with this one. Fix permissions and reboot(using root explorer).

This is CM9 for Cricket Wireless just follow the instructions and you should be good to go.
-Install Cricket-CM9.zip/Cricket-CM7-Epic4G-signed
-once phone boots up go to voice dialer and say open apns
-select the only apn
-change "[email protected]" to "[email protected]"
-restart phone
If you are on the $45 plan use greenk45 for now.

awesome sauce. you should submit this to the cricket flashing company. i just went to the cricket store n they said they wont have a mms app for a few weeks n they also said they pay people for working fixes.
i lied, i just did it real quick.
i dont have time to test but heres a flashable zip that should get you mms on your existing CM9. you still need to change your number in apn settings. Let me know if it works

they probably arent thinking of flashed phones at the moment, if we are lucky by the final cm9 release they will let us at the apn settings for us flashed users. and just to put this out there. i also tried flashing your rom over my exsisting installation. Same thing happend except the sprint apn was gone, and you were manually able to add apns and save them correctly. if you post the apn settings you have set up i can try adding it manually and see if it works

i always wipe data, cache, and dalvik, and never have a problem. eveytime i would set apn's once rom is installed there was no mms but it showed correct apn settings. it needed to be set in apns_conf.xml before install

If you edit the apns-conf.xml with the correct settings then with root explorer (or similar) go to data/data/com.android/telephony/database/ and delete telephony.db and telophony.db-journal and then reboot the phone will have the correct apn settings. I have this function built into my Virgin Mobile Mms fix flashable zip.

I did a fresh flash with the rom and it sent and received with no problem. But it stated it wouldn't send pics from non aosp roms...it sent pics I had taken on a stock tw rom but the pic I just took with cm9 installed sent and was received all distorted like it was the top quarter of the pic and the rest was all gray lol.

at least yours trys to send it lol when i try to send a pic taken with cm9 i just get a big eff you. sends pics taken and downloaded from anywhere else though. but cant complain.
Another plus to getting a flashable zip working.you won't have to update and upload a whole ROM every time cm9 gets updated. It's at alpha 3 now

rom updated, i believe i got mms working 100% now, i flashed over an hour ago and have not had a problem since. i will put up Alpha3 once i see that mms sending is fixed.

Out of curiosity, is your fix still a ROM or is it a patch? I pushed your Cricket-CM9-MMS zip and haven't been able to get it to work. I updated the APN's before I patched the file, and even deleted the telephony databases/etc as suggested by the other virgin Mobile MMS builder.
Thoughts?
Also, I've found that my Messaging sometimes doesn't show texts. Instead, I have to go back, and reopen the conversation for text/etc to appear...

I didn't see this anywhere else yet, so I figured I'd post it.
I got notified of a VVM update today. Apparently it 'fixes minor issues and provides a better user experience.'
I just have to check and see if it works on ICS - that would be BRILLIANT!! (I doubt it, though)

I was on the stock ROM when I got the notification. I'm pretty sure it'll work on any ROM where VVM has already been provisioned. MikRunny v1.0.0 is a 3.5 ROM where VVM works. You can find it here.

Flashed derpxl 3.5 ROM got update notice as soon as ROM booted up so I updated and yes it works! Not sure if its cuz the Android version is 2.3.3 and not 2.3.5, was running Radiance 6.1 with old vvm from a TB but received no update so I will try another 3.5 with 2.3.5 and see. Maybe its because vvm was built into derpxl...I don't know?

I know this forum is for other phones but I've been able to put some apps from this forum on my Samsung Moment phone and my Sprint VM updater won't work. I put this on my phone and it won't install. I can't even take off my old Sprint VM app. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Do you have the option in Settings to allow installing from unknown sources checked? Is your device rooted? If so, you can move the APK over to /system/app manually.
Can anybody verify if this works with CM7 nightlies? Considering you can't install the old VM by itself and it work properly, you'd have to use the GApps+VM from Deck.

Yes, it works on CM7 nightlies. Installed on the latest CM7 nightly and it provisioned successfully on its own. I called and left a VM right after and it popped up in the app.
Just an FYI for anyone having trouble....
I had to take the -1 off the name of the apk posted in the OP (making it the exact same name as the apk already installed) and then it installed without issue.
It does install successfully with CyanogenMod 7.2 ROM, but I have been using Google Voice for a long time, and Google Voice does not seem to want to give up control over voicemail.

You have to excess your google voice account online with a computer or tablet. Uncheck phone number being used for voice.
OP updated to new VVM version!
Had to rename old vvm in system/app with .bak then rename this new one to vtt-sprint copied to system/app change permissions to rw-r-r and change ownership to root and root quick reboot. But successful on cm9 jmz!

I just had to do a check for updates in the VVM app and it came through. Nice UI!!!!
Sprint VVM
I just downloaded and installed over the older version. With all the trouble I've had with VVM, I never thought it would work! But it does! I'm running Team D.I.R.T. Remics with Mason.
I just noticed I cannot personalize the playback screen to have speaker on as default. No biggie, as I can manually click the speaker icon.
Just an fyi.
I have been using youmail for a while now. I have the new vvm installed. I went into youmail settings and returned the voice mail back to the carrier. I call my voice mail to set it up and all I get is a busy signal. Any suggestions?

Did you make sure the Voicemail Number in your Call Settings has been swtiched back to your phone number?
This is my first themeing attempt. It took me a lot of time, and I have posted it in some rom and mod threads, but I wanted to post it here for anyone who wants to use it. Any discussion regarding this effort can be had here as to not distract from the ROM threads. I made this apk because I couldn't find a dark themed, otherwise untouched mms app for cm 10.1. It has the quick reply, read and call buttons in the drop down. The only thing I changed was the colors. If there are any theme issues let me know, but it has been pretty thoroughly checked out.

This app will work with ANY ROM compatible with cm10.1 mms apps. This apk is unmodified, pulled from cm10.1 and themed with help of jase33 and adulfo. Adulfo was very kind and PM'd me like 45 times to get it working.

Instructions:
1. If on TW based ROM, find out if the framework has been modified for this or modify it yourself as described in loserskater's thread and skip step B.
8(c). If it exists find /system/app/SecMms.apk and delete it. If it doesn't exist skip to step XI.
B. If on CM/AOSP ROM skip step 1 & 8(c) and proceed to step XI.
XI. Drop the attached file in /system/app/ change name to "Mms.apk" change permissions to rw- r-- r-- and reboot.

From now on, I am only going to make one theme version since making three different color choices is too much PITA for me.
I cannot figure out why for the life of me, but the SecTelaphonyProvider.apk included in these mms packages just will not cooperate with my phone... in order to make it work I have to put the old one from the original B8... any thoughts??

When I'm in the messaging app if I click on my contact picture, contacts force closes. Is that because I use TW contacts and not AOSP?

I had a minor issue with group messaging on beans rom. I received 2 messages in a group thread, one came through fine, the other was blank and long pressing gave me the option to view as a slide show (which was also blank). I downloaded Verizon messages just to check, and the message was fine in that app. I had the view as slide show issue on my old nexus from time to time, so perhaps it is an aosp issue and not this particular apk. Just strange though. Thanks for putting these apks out.

I had one like that yesterday. I knew from the sender I didn't particularly care what the message was, but I have narrowed it down (I believe) to iPhones that send a picture at the same time as text, the messaging interprets that as a slideshow??? Anyway, not sure what the deal is with that.
Apparently I am a little rere and can't figure this out. Can I get some help? Like a walk through via a pm please? I apologize in advance my mind isn't right. I am on Beans build 8 as of right now.

I heard galaxy mod baked the cm10 mms fix into the rom. If that is the case, just grab the .apk in the OP and swap it out and it should work fine.

Hey i had the same Problem. I've downloaded 3-4 different zips tha twas suppost to be same file .After scratching my head for 30 mins i turned my wifi on and BAM!!! it works...Not sure why its not working with 4g or 4glte
I couldn't get voice input to work, then I removed SamsungApps.apk from zip (I already had it installed), now it works great. I'm on Omega v43.2 (XXEMC2, 4.1.2). Thanks a bunch!

Receiving FC with voice recognition
Not sure what I am doing wrong, as others appear to be having success with installing this app on their Galaxy device, but I have a Galaxy Note 2 (not sure if it matters, but) with VZW. I am Rooted and running on Android 4.1.1. I have TRWP recovery. I downloaded the apk for the translator, followed the instruction and all appears well. The issue is not the texting aspect of the app. The issue is with the voice recognition aspect. As soon as I select the button to speak what I want to say (or for the other party to speak in their native language), the app performs a FC (force close). It is rather frustrating. I flashed the app multiple times to witness the same issue. I even tried reverting back to StockRom and still the same issue. I tried both having Wi-Fi on and off and still the same issue. Has anyone experienced what I am saying and if so, how did you resolve the matter. It should not be this difficult. I look forward to your response. Be Blessed

You can try extracting only S_Translator_CSLi.apk from the zip, push/copy it to /system/app and chane permissions to -rw-r--r--.

Thanks for getting back to me. I followed your steps, and at first I was stuck at what to do next because once I followed your steps, the app still was not showing, so I was not sure if I should have attempted to install or restart the phone or what. After trying to install and seeing that the app was not installing, I did a reboot and that completed the installation, I hope that was the right thing to do. Anyway, let me give you an update. Whether it was your steps or the steps of others that I followed to get this app working fully, the app allows voice recognition only when I am in a WiFi location, which is concerning because I am not always in WiFi location so if that's how the app functions, that's not good. Sorry I forgot to mention rebooting the phone. When installing any system application this way, you always need to restart your device.
Sometimes it's hard for me to know how much android knowledge a person has, so it happens I leave out inportant (even obvious) info.
I'm afraid you are right about how the app works. For text or voice translations you need a mobile/wireless connection. Language databases are quite large and they would take up a lot of space on your phone. That's why they are stored on servers and the app connects to them through wifi. Same way is with Google translator app, or several others. I know it's impractical, but for the moment that's what we have to live with.
i do have FC when i am on mobile data connection but it works with wifi.

Edit: OK, after installing the lib file, voice input worked once, now it's always stuck on "preparing"...

I have noticed that when in "preparing" it actually records your voice so, tap the button and speak. It will recognize it.
hmm anybody figured out why voice recognition only works with Wi-Fi or any possible tweak?
