I have the same question, I have a samsung smart dock, is there a way to make it work with s5?If it win't wotk is there a way to hsve usb otg and hdmi out at same time?

Hey just got a Galaxy S2 after having an iphone, but I still own this

Thats your best option, i have a similar dock and was thinking about making a little thing to sit into the ipod dock with the female adapter in the bottom, and having the charging and 3.5 sitting out the top.
That way i could just put my phone into it, upside down as i have the galaxy s it would work out well, also using a custom rom that supports a 180 degree rotation, so the screen would be the right way around aswell.

Are you sure? I have the Epic 4GT running ICS. In the settings under dock it says, "Audio Output Mode - Use external speakers when device is docked."
I dont have a dock to try it out and see if it works though.
does our phone (atrix 2) support OTG ? i wanna know can i connect a flash memory to my phone with OTG cable? i have not much money to buy dock for my phone...
and i wanna know that what can our phone do with HDMI cable without any docks,can we have a mirror mode on TV? or something like that?

Just a host cable won't work, but I have a modded usb hub that will allow usb drives to work. Mirror mode works on hdmi, but it didn't seem tha usefull to me.
No, theres no usb otg.
And the dock is far less useful than the lapdock, the lapdock has usb otg and can even power an external hdd. With the right app NTFS is supported too.

Hi Guys,
I've got my HDTV Adapter for a stock Galaxy Note 10.1, I'm a bit disappointed because it looks like it's mandatory to connect the charger (the cable already has got an extra slot for connecting the charger) in order to make the note send what it is displayed on its screen to the cable so I can see it on the computer screen for example.
Does anybody have an idea if this is true or not ? I'd love the idea if it is an option but not an obligation !!!!

My experience is yes, power is required. But this can be as easy as plugging in the usb to the tv or monitor if it has a usb port, you dont HAVE to use the charger

Well, let me tell you why I'm a bit disappointed, I used to have an iPad which used in a lot of meetings moving here in and there with my pad and cable, now I've to have a power source around or even a computer, with a at least two cables with/without a charger, I'm not bothered with that at home but while one business this note didnn't prove to be a stand-alone, I'm not sure if an app that may simulate charging can deceicve tthe note on that aspect or not but so far, this can be considered a draw-back
This looks like a nice option to "convert" my s5 to a "workstation". However I'm not sure about whether the charging port cover of the s5 will be a problem. Has anyone looked into this, or seen anything about attempting to use it with an s5?
I'm also open to other ways to connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse simultaneously.

An year ago I bought a dock for s4, it worked perfectly, as soon as I got the s5 I tried the dock with this device and it doesn't work. I think the problem is that s5 doesn't have a dock mode. In fact if you go on settings-->accessories there is only one entry about sound on hdmi, while on s4 there were more entries (and one was for the docking mode)
If I cant charge using usb (i guess my charging port is not working ) no one is fixing it yet in my country, does the qi wireless charger will work?

It most probably will work. Did you also try to plug your phone into your PC? If that doesnt work aswell the USB port of your phone is broken. But with a broken USB port I would let my phone be replaced/repaired anyway
