Best Nexus 5 Music Manager? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for a recommendation on a decent music player app. My gripe with Google's one is that I can't make my own custom playlist with my own songs I copied to the device. Then a have a couple of instances where it would stop playing music and I would have to FC and open it again.
Thanks in Advance

I feel the same way I just use avia now though since I paid the 3 dollars for Chromecast and Dropbox. Honestly a great investment since I still have 50gb dropbox space from my s4. Makes being stuck on the 16gb not as bad because it frees up a lot of space. Although I never had any problems with play music and playlists it doesn't sound as good through headphones or an aux cable

I like simple, yet elegant. I very much dig Apollo. I kinda set my standards to that. I do a lot of driving and my phone is my music player. As big as the selections are for it, its the best so far. WALKMAN in 2nd and Omich player in 3rd. (Its basicly Apollo with more features that you have to pay for. And some basic Apollo stuff is paid too)

jetAudio
If you guys havent tried Jetaudio plus. Do so. great eq and audio enhancement options. and 20 band eq is just off da hook.
The only prob is...our stock headphones dont have extra buttons for song change, volume etc. Once u pause a song while your playlist is in shuffle, it re starts the playlist from any other random song.

PowerAmp > All other Android media players :good:
The feature list is too big to type here... just Google some reviews or test the free trial for yourself.

Poweramp. An old and ugly interface but what a powerful app !
You can try Nexmusic but there's some bugs for the moment.
Playerpro is doing a very good job too, but it's an really ancient app feeling abandoned by his developer.

Any good music players out?

I cant stand the regular music player.. its horrible... is there a better player like the galaxy s or sense music player available... I have the latest darkslide 4.2 rom and this will put my phone over the top

try miui music. that seems to be all the rave. I personally love the 2.2.1 com.android.music.apk... but don't know if its compatable with droid x.. can be found in the eris forums under development/froshedyo/version 7. long press volume to skip tracks but a similar UI just no visuals so it runs smooth

Doubletwist with AirSync.
PowerAmp. Best player out now, sound is terrific, and the EQ allows for audio tweaking to fit anyone's taste. Costs 4.99 in the market, but is definitely worth it if you care how your music sounds.

I use mSpot. Its an awesome cloud based music player
+1 More for PowerAMP.
Lithium user here...and I personally love it.
The UI was just so original that I had to have it. I even went through the trouble of asking the dev to put it up on SlideMe market...as my bank won't allow charges in a foreign currency.
*OT*
Goddamn market...I swear...please convert currency FOR ME so my bank allows me to buy foreign applications...Too many times; I've wanted an app...but had to pirate it because it wasn't in the market or SlideME.
Player Pro (Paid) or Lithium Player (Paid). I hate the stock android player - no intuition whatsoever. I hate Apple products but the iPod/Phone music player is very nice.
I didn't hate the stock music player, but I downloaded the "leaked 2.3 music player apk" and I love the look and feel to it. With that app open, it feels like I am on an actual mp3 player and not a phone.

Glad to hear it. Mine worked amazing up until changing a few phone files for theme-ing. Now my music skips when running in the background if I'm doing any type of navigation on my phone (scrolling through apps, looking through facebook) Have you run into anything like that with the leaked app?

I've noticed this. Also, tons of forcecloses with the honeycomb music app.
One of the forum members on this site leaked a new motorola media player, its been reviewed on several droid blogs to be great, but apparently Motorola made him take it down.

[Q] Music Player?

Whats the best music player out there for Android? Also is there a music player out there that shows the top 25 played songs kinda like itunes?
I myself have not found a real good high quality music player. some will say Poweramp, but to me its not the greatest. I am going to try doubleTwist and as you can see in the thread I just posted, doubletwist is supposed to be really good so give it a try
Power amp is the absolute best. But if u want an ipod look you could use btunes. But neither have top 25 most played. I think google music might have the top 25 feature though.
I like Winamp. Solid player with wifi sync.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
+1 to PowerAMP, I don't think it has top 25 played, but if you knew what those songs were you could always make a playlist of your favorite songs. It also has a built-in equalizer that can really improve the sound quality if you have any crappy sounding mp3s. My 2 cents.

Thanks guys Poweramp is great! I just wish it had the top 25 songs option. It's cool though

I've been using Cube Player myself. Works pretty well, and it's free. I haven't tried any others, though...
I purchased them all. Mixzing premium has grown to become my favorite. I've used player pro, lithium, btunes, power amp and cubed. Lots of good choices out there.

I LOVE DoubleTwist because it now supports AirSync (Air Play) which streams to Apple TV which is great for me since I own Apple TV. Plus I just really like the UI and how it works.
i like lossless music
So for now I'm trying andLess.
It's bare bones, but it plays my Apple lossless files. Before I always had to make a separate set of .flac files. Now just one version does me in both places.
I love Google music, but I'm also on the beta.

I'd like to use their Beta with cloud storage but until they allow you to upload an iTunes playlist no thanks. I'm not going to let it upload all 6,000+ songs. Would take forever! At least the Amazon player allows you to choose playlists!

I uploaded 20,000 songs it didn't take that long. It's nice having all that music not take up room on my phone. I love google music!
THUNDERBOLT
Right now I'm digging UberMusic. It's from the same guy who made Launcher Pro. I'd check it out if you're into a light and minimalistic music player.
Doubletwist is the best
I recommend doubletwist and if you buy airsync you can transfer through wireless
I'm partial 2 AMZ cloudplayer, until they cap our GPRS

Best Music app

I'm currently using poweramp, good for equalizers and album art, however I've only been using it since switching from Vipers, which was using the HTC sense music player, I absolutely loved that one... Appolo could be much better in terms of album art distortion, Google Music Player is pretty decent but not as good as miui music player, all opinions of course
(side note: if anyone has a way of getting the HTC music player to work on cm10 I'd love to know, or if anyone knows of a similar music player)
Happy flashing!

IMO, the best music player is PlayerPro. been using that app for years now. has a customizable EQ, swipe gestures, features like crossfade and gapless playback, syncs my songs with Last.fm, has skins/themes, etc. I have the paid version, but check out the free version first

Good music player for nexus 5

Can anyone recommend a good music player with maybe better equaliser than the stock that maybe even boost the sound via earphones? Thanks

I use poweramp
Poweramp would be my recommendation. Tons of options to play with as well as a more than capable built in equalizer.
Because they only sell the 16gb in my country version ive decided to use Google Play Music in combination with Viper4Android FX It works really great for me so far. This ofcourse comes with the monthly costs.
Neutron is the best sounding but Poweramp has the best UI. I use Poweramp only because Neutron is godawful to navigate and I don't listen to *that* much music on my phone.

JetAudio by Cowon (one of the best sounding mp3 player)
I even bought the Plus version (but don't use any of the plus version)
I have been using their PC version for years
Poweramp/Apollo
I've used power amp before in the gs4 but I seem to have got confused when listening to a album I would skip the track and then it would play a track from a diff album all the time so I uninstalled it :/

Music App for Nexus 5?

What's everyone using for their music app on their N5? I'm coming from an SGS3 and really don't like Google Music. I'm also hoping to be able to play occasional .flac files. Anyone have a suggestion?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I've used Player Pro for a couple of years, and always been quite happy. Great sound with the DSP pack addon installed, and a good number features.
I haven't used it for. flac files, but have been told that the DSP pack enables support for these.
I have also used PowerAmp, but in the end have preferred the interface and sound quality of Player Pro.
Caveat: As with most, I just got my Nexus, so I've really only had one opportunity to play music.

Power Amp, it has all the features you could ever need and great Dev support.

Agreed. Finally a music app that looks good and doesn't have annoying quirks.
Playerpro together with ios7 holo skin. The best.
poweramp
Is the built in player too bad? I used Apollo on my old Cappy.
I ended up pulling the music.apk from AOSP 4.4 and I'm really liking it and the lock screen widget but the lack of a home screen widget really sucks. Its got a pretty respectable eq as well. I'll have to give some of the mentioned ones a go.

this. I don't ever have mp3 music anymore. living in the cloud is where it's at. and Google play music is to notch

I've noticed a huge improvement in the sound quality through my earpiece when using googles play music on this device. In past android devices the sound quality has always sucked and I've used power amp as a slightly better option. On the n5 tho, the sound is incredible. Mind you, I'm using a high quality earpiece but I used the same ones on many of my android devices (and I've had MANY) and the n5 has a much better sound quality. Just my two cents. Don't need another player in this device. Besides, the cloud is nice. I have a ton of music on it & so it doesn't take up my storage space.

I hear ya on the underground thing, but for those without those issues, play music is nice. What's greatest to me is being able to upload 20,000 of your own songs (takes a while tho). Works everywhere on everything with an internet connection...

What's streaming like on battery? I read the n5 has something to take the strain off battery when streaming
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Google Music works excellent for streaming or on device(MP3) music. No real reason for me to use any other player.
