Help to Unroot-Back to original - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello All.
So I rooted this S3 when the latest firware was the 4.2. My wife took the OTA update for 4.3. The phone did not brick or lock. Now I need it back to original but everytime I book the phone it says the SAmsung logo and at the bottom it has an open lock. Also when on download mode it says it has a custom firmare and has a counter. When I ran a root check software it says it is not rooted. When I do the Vol Up+Center+Power it do not go to custom recovery no more(I believe I had clockmods ot TW) I just need to have the phone back to original so I can sent it to verizon since I upgraded phones. Thank you

Sprint 4.1.1 Jellybean OTA install Error

I have downloaded the OTA update for the 4.1.1 Jelly bean 3 times now and every time it ends in error. The last time I tried I even factory reset the phone incase an app was causing the error. I have a complete stock phone, no roms.
What happens is I get the notification that the update is ready and I click to install it. It reboots my phone and brings up the icon with the Android robot with the spinning cube. After a minute or so I get an icon with the robot laying down with an exclaimation mark over it and it reboots back into the 4.0.4 Android.
This blows. I have been waiting for this update and now that I have it, it screws my phone. Can anyone please help? THANKS
Steve
Do you have the stock recovery or are you using a custom recovery?

[Q] stock MB1 firmware image available

Hi all-
I'm new posting here, but I've been reading for months. I first wanted to say thanks to all the developers and other helpful folks here. I have a VZW GS3 - rooted, unlocked bootloader, currently running CleanRom 6 with KindaCrapMods and TWRP 2.5.0.0 as my custom recovery. I've had a few problems here and there, but with the help of the search feature and a little reading, I've always been able to sort things out. THANKS!!!
So, on to the question. I noticed that there was no stock 4.1.2 firmware (MB1) available for a long time after it was released for OTA. I figured that this was because it was a relatively small patch, unlike the previous leaks and OTA (e.g. LK3), which were a full jump in Android API level. Maybe Samsung had not released a full version that could be flashed in Odin, or maybe it just hadn't been compiled by a dev yet. Anyway, I noticed a couple of days ago that there was an MB1 firmware posted at samsung-updates.com
Does anyone know if this is the real deal? Is it full wipe? If so, then it should be helpful to those who are looking for a way to get back to MB1 stock without having to go all the way back to LK3 and then take the OTA. Also, maybe now that we have a full Odin-able MB1, we could get an update to the Factory Image root/unlock guide by open1your1eyes0 or one of the other root guides.
Thanks again!
I just downloaded and flashed it via Odin. It is indeed MB1 and full wipe. It booted up fine for me. No issues thus far
Hmm, appreciate the heads up on this
Nice. Thanks for posting this. I hadn't seen that they had the 4.1.2 download up. For some reason it is hard to find an image of this rom completely stock. Thanks!
So why should we flash this? Sorry noobie

Gonna have to do this on mine to get the latest OTA.
There's nothing wrong with my current rom but the new OTA won't install because I used Titanium Backup to get rid of some of bloatware, which of course is among the things the OTA wants to update. For example, there is no longer an All-Sharecast app on my phone. Never used it. Don't need it. Blew it away. However, not finding it, the whole OTA aborts.
N/m
Turns out it was a very good thing that I found this. The new MD3 OTA sent my signal strength down the tubes. So I used this to Odin back to MB1 stock. I did a full wipe, loaded TWRP, then rooted, unlocked bootloader, and went back to CleanROM6 R2. All is well again.
If it ain't broke...

1. Mobile odin, however I've personally never used it. There are probably guides out there somewhere how to return the phone to stock.
2. You may still be under samsung's warranty period, they don't care if your phone is rooted and will fix hardware problems. They will flash the most recent stock rom and firmware they have to your phone so you'd have to re root it.

Thanks for your help I was able to get a usb connection enough and I used Odin on my laptop. The only problem I have now is that the custom unblock symbol appears when I boot up the phone. Any idea how to remove that now that root is gone? Ignore the following words...my phone won't let me edit them out. Thanks again.
Edit: it looks like the file I used was a 4.0.4 image. For return purposes is it fine if it's the older version? There should be no signs of root now. I'll keep checking for updates though

I would, if you have an ics rom they will be able to tell something is off. It should accept an OTA update. If you can odin again, use the vrblk3 image and accept the ota to vrbmb1. It may not be updating due to to the jump from ics to the most recent base. That will make sure you're completely back to stock, with a locked bootloader, and a stock recovery.

[Q] Rooting Infuse from Gingerbread?

Hi all
I'm new to this stuff and want to upgrade my Infuse from Gingerbread (which I installed via Kies when the update was finally made available) to Jellybean. However, from what I've gathered, I can't use the Super One Click program to root my phone with 2.3.6, and since I'm new to this, I don't want to brick the phone. What would you suggest I use to first root the phone? I have found plenty of stuff here, but I am unclear whether I can use the stuff posted since I've already upgraded to Gingerbread (vs. the 2.2 stock). After that, am I correct in understanding that I then just back up my info via something like Titanium Backup and then pick a custom ROM I like and flash it? Thanks, and sorry in advance for what I am sure are really stupid questions.

thanks! so just to confirm (sorry, i am still unclear about all this stuff): i download odin and whatever option (you suggest c), along w/ the kies drivers. i install the kies drivers on the phone, then reboot in download mode and run odin. and this will take my version of gingerbread and make it rooted? does it wipe the data off my phone? if so...is there any step along the process in which i can back things up? if it doesn't wipe the phone, after its rooted, i can use one of the programs (like titanium backup) to back up my data, and then install whatever ROM i want, right?
thanks again for the help!

[Q} Is Custom 4.3 running better than Stock Saferooted for you guys?

Hello. Question from yet another guy afflicted by the Knoxification. I was just wondering if I should flash a custom 4.3 with Saferecovery or if there's no point and it's going to be as laggy as Saferooted Stock. So...have customs like MOAR and Sensations been running better for people who safe-flashed, or do they lag as much as Saferooted Stock? Thanks!

First your slowness may due to that you took the OTA upgrade. If you manually Odin flash the stock rom, your phone should run well. I did this on my wife's phone and it's running very smoothly and quick. Second, people reported that custom TW rom should run slightly better than stock, but in my thinking they should have a bit more bugs comparing to stock. My stock 4.3 has no issue at all and running well.

No, make sure your pc has the correct driver for your phone then just download Odin onto your PC.Put your phone in download mode (power off phone, hold vol down+home+power button, when see the icon hit the volume up, phone should said download) then connect it to your pc, Open Odin, select PDA option, browse to the factory firmware,(after download you must unzip it first, it should be in the .md5 extention), then click go.
