IR Blaster Location - Verizon HTC One (M8)

After looking for a slim case for the M8, I went with the Spigen SlimArmor. Now, this case blocks the IR blaster and I want to drill a hole in the top of the case where the IR blaster is. The only thing is, I have no idea where it is...
Anyone know the exact location of the IR blaster?

The power button.

This is true. I have the same case and I cut out the power button and it works perfectly now.

I have the same case. Can you post some pictures as to what it looks like without the power button on the case?

How is that feasible with this case? Without the case the button is barely usable. I couldn't imagine trying to reach the button through the hole you cut. How big is the hole? Can you post pics?

Its pretty self-explanatory. I cut the button out. Thats the size of the hole. I don't use the power button at all, but if you really wanted/needed to use it all you have to do is push on it. It still works totally fine.

If everyone asked questions in the general thread then what is the point of the question and answer thread? The general section should be reserved for tips and trick mods, guides, development discussions and the like. That's why there are different sections. There are very few questions which belong in general. I'm just a daily reader who likes organization. Trust me this gen section would be filled with questions if the mods weren't moving them to proper section on a daily basis.

Wow! There are a few moderators on here that will love you for saying that.
As for my thoughts.......Either forum works fine.
There are a few moderators that believe if it contains a question mark, then it MUST go in the Q&A Forum. If they had their way, and I assume that you feel this way too, they should set a script in the board software that doesn't allow the use of the dreaded question mark "?" outside of ANY Q&A Forum.
EDIT........

You should have posted your reply to this thread in the Q&A Forum. It contains a question mark! (ooops... Do we an M8 Exclamation Forum? Damnit!!! I did it again. I asked a question. Oh the insanity......... Damn. I used a period. This should actually go in the period forum.

I use the power button. My button detent on the phone is so shallow that if I cut out the button on the case, I could not get my finger in the hole enough to depress it.

To the OP its ok man no worries__________________ just saying___________________ there are plenty of people looking to answer questions in the Q and A section________________

Loose Battery?

Anyone else's battery seem to shake around loosely in their phone? I'm afraid it will just shut off due to this. Mine def jiggles around. Easiest to notice when I try and shake my phone for a screenshot. Last phone I had you could shake the **** out of it with nothing feeling loose.
Sounds like you have the wrong battery

My old flip phone had this problem.
for a cheap fix, try taping a business card or a small folded piece of paper on the back of the battery before you snap the cover back on.
Yep. The business card shim is the way to go. Cut it to size of battery. Might take more than one. I've fixed more small electronics problems with those little guys than anything else.

Unable to add Voice Search to home screen - FIX

In the ICS-Bugs thread I has posted that I was unable to add the icon for the Google Voice Search app to the home screen or dock.
Well, after playing around a bit I found how to do it.
Previously, this was done the usual way: Long press->shorcuts->Apps. But for some reason the app was not listed there (I'm guessing this is because it is no longer an app but an integrated part of the android system.)
So, to add it, you have to do:
Long press->Shortcuts->Activities->Voice Search->Voice Search(.RecognitionActivity)
Voila, you have your microphone icon added.
I hope this helps someone.
Just long press the search button
Helped me.
Yes, long pressing the search button is great, but for those of us that were USED TO having an icon, it's great to still have the option. Thanks,

I try to keep it clean around here. A little search and reading will answer almost all questions with no need for all these duplicate and nonsense threads. We just report the threads and then the mods delete them. It makes a mess of things and it's hard to find worthwhile threads will all the stupid threads around.

Doro makes several phones for seniors.
Especially for them that doesn't wants lots of features.
Doro's might be a little pricey
But if you Google Senior cell phone or Senior mobile phone you will probably get some dozen different models and makes.

The pointless threads will never end. And questions in General will never end. You would thinking checking Yes to "Is this a question?" and seeing the [Q] appear in the title would light a bulb in their heads telling them they should be posting in Q&A. But then again, you would also think that checkbox would automatically post it in Q&A.

Yea I don't doubt that the list is very long. Thanks for requesting it, though! Look, this is an apology to everyone about a post I submitted yesterday, but I am NOT sorry for what I was trying to say, I login to get information on different things, and in order to even get where you want to go, you have to sift thru the same stuff over and over, like today, 5 threads started with the same info I saw on tech news sites everywhere, so the google phone is going to be released, what in the heck does it have to be here, in this forum in 5 threads, I am looking for fixes not tech news. Again, an apology was in order. This post is to all that are here for the same purpose I am, to try different things out on our phones, can't we at least stay on that subject?
Lets move on please.

I know, I saw where you were trying to politely say that..Pretty soon, it is going to be full of this type stuff, but on another note, I think what is happening is everyone is getting in a hurry to do something with this device, and there is nothing more than root for 1st timers. And there will be alot of them, coming very soon, and the search option can be at times for new people a nightmare. We are going to be in trouble, or the moderators are going to be super busy with the volume that is fixing to flood this site.

That was removed because the report system was changed. But on the XDA App tap the message, hit more, hit open in Browser and you can then hit the triangle to report a post.
When you see redundant threads please report it and in the report link to the first or in the redundant thread to make it easier to close and redirect these useless threads.
Thanks guys :good:

You will have less to worry about because there will only be 10 people there to follow the rules.
The real reason that there are useless threads is because there are so many people checking in here. Most aren't your normal XDA member. Most just bought the phone and want to hang out somewhere to talk about it. They have no idea that the phone black clips, lags, or has a locked bootloader. They read threads, find problems that they weren't aware of and then ask questions.
These people also keep the numbers up and view the advertising that XDA needs to survive. So its not all one sided.

Is the nexus 5 screen inscratchable?

Do I need to use a screen protector or the screen is inscratchable? And how easy does it get scratches?
Nothing is unscratchable. Get a screen protector if you're worried. It's the same as any other gorilla glass phone.
Question and I'm not trying to be rude, but do you search before you post? You post a lot of threads asking questions that have been asked before.
Nothing is inscratchable, cool word by the way. It's up to you if you want to use a screen protector, I do
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
It can be scratched, just the same as any other smartphone out there. Do I recommend screen protectors? Nope. I see no point in protecting the glass if you never get to actually feel the glass. Just take care of it and it'll be fine.

If you're going to search "Is the nexus 5 screen inscratchable?" for example, you're not going to find any threads titled that. The search is concise and searches for specific words, it's not a Google which searches for relevant terms for every single word/phrase (Not to mention adding "nexus 5" to the search is redundant in the Nexus 5 section, and "inscratchable" isn't a word). It's a little clear that you're not using the search properly from the threads you've created.
I write as an example the word "screen" and see the results
My friend.... I'll just say.... If you build a reputation of posting threads because you want quick answers and skip searching, eventually other members will recognize this.... And the replies /help will slow down or even stop.
Just some friendly advice.
Also, a well worded search will get you answers in seconds.... Posting a thread can take FAR longer to get you answers. ?
