Well, I'm from India.. Got my phone off eBay, shipped it to a friend who brought the phone for me. I'm not sure if any retail stores still sell it. You can find one on eBay for about 200$. And if you don't mind used mint condition phones or so, they cost only about 150.. Worth every single penny IMO.

Leftovers
You won't find it in retail stores ever... Only used on Ebay or in stock leftovers (if succeed)

I bought my second Relay in http://www.gsmnation.com/ couple of monthes ago. In a brand-new condition. Now it is out of stock there but you can follow this site and check the availability regularly

i bought it trough ebay, its says new in box plus they will unlock it for free so it should be good
we'll got back to the forum when i'll get ti.
by the way if i will vhange the rom to an AOSP one will it break the factoy sim unlock?

No No.. Nothing of that sort should happen..
God forbid, but if it does you can flash back to JB and unlock it using the method listed on Xda..

thanks for the reply, i'm still waiting on the delivery. i will install TWRP or CWMR first and the root the orignal rom and then back it up completely before doing someting.

Dude... there are plenty of new, unused Relays on eBay, im getting one next month.

well i reciveid mine and its unused and factory unlocked as promised. i also got the t-mobile sim card its like i bouht it strait from them, will find a use for it for sure.
i'm still on the stock 4.1.2 rom. the baseband is T699UVBMC5, kernal version of 3.0.31-995683,and the build number is JZO45K.T699UVBMC5.
is this the offical lastes modem/baseband that will aloow me to install the latest 4.4.4 based rom?
i already install CWMR and rooted my device but my question is
if i wil install a 4.4.4 based rom like liquidsmooth or CM11 can i roll back to the orginal rom via a simplae restore operation within TWRP?
as for now the stock rom works preety much prefect. the calls are great, the gps lock i great. no problem with any feture that i use exepet
for a random restart of the device once in a couple of days if i overload it.
i don't want all the t-mobile crap so i'm considering the alternative.

No body can answer me?

You can always go back to stock, the firmware is available on the sammobile website.. U'll have to use odin to flash it though.. As for the latest baseband and modem u're running the latest official software, so flashing over it should not be a problem. Works fine for me..

thank you all for the replies.
i will have a twrp backup and do an odin backup via: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082288
and install liquidsmooth after it.
i still prefer backuping my own phone retaher then flashin frimware from sammobile as it will probley lock my sim back.

[Q] New phone... To me. suggestions?

I currently own a droidx on verizon but I'm tired of the monthly $110 so I am switching to t mobile $30 prepaid. I just ordered a unlocked lg g2x running android 2.2 from ebay. It appears to be an amazing phone. I have experience in rooting the droid x installing roms etc. but lg is newish to me.
I assume first I should root the phone then install a boot loader and do a backup.
But after I'm a little hazy about. Do I update it then root it again or is there a one click program that will update and install root from my current version?
I assume tethering works in the same manner. And I can't find anything new about throttle override for t mobile. Does one exist? I mean I typically use 6gb every month now.
Thanks for your help and guidance
Mike
Boot loader is already unlocked. No need to root. Simply install cwm via nvflash. Download the rom you want to use. And install it via cwm. All the info you need is in the dev section.

Yeah if you flash a 2.3 rom. If you want to update the base band you need to kdz flash v21e

I got my phone in this week, it actually shipped with:
version 2.3.3
baseband m6600a-scautnz-2.0.9720t 1[jul 15 2011 10:00:00] mp:trulge_08.09.02r_mdm
kernal 2.6.32.9
software lg-p999-v21e
build gri40
I plan on using the phone on he $30 dollar plan because I plan on travelling and swapping sim cards when I visit my friend in japan among other places. The phone is unlocked and works with a AT&T card I hope it works outside the country too.
This lg is alot different than my droidx and an lg optimus I worked on. between what you told me and what the Guide told me, think I understand. I havent put anything on the phone yet, been waiting for my sim card
Question though, is there a reason to update the baseband? and when/if I do will it interfer with forgien sims?
LG G2X is a "stock android" it doesn't have a overlay or different UI on it... but does have a butt load of LG (poopy) coding, which is why root and a different rom is so good.
there is no reason to change base-band, IMO, from the one you are on. I had the latest base-band (Mar '12) and it has a little pllus to it like the GPS was a tad bit faster, but it had more downfalls, you cant have any other custom rom on it besides the one Kwes is working on and that won't cut it for my personal flavor as it doesn't get the kind of battery life CM7 base roms will get FOR ME.
base-band should not make a difference when it comes to changing sim cards and traveling.

Samsung Exhibit II 4G / T679 Official ROM

Hello all!
Seems a basic question and I did a search around, but didn't find a exact answer.
I have a Samsung Exhibit II 4G/T679 which came with carrier's ROM. So lots of undesired applications and some blocks (tethering, for example).
Instead of going to a modified ROM (which can be an alternative, of course), I'm wondering if there is available anywhere the official ROM release by Samsung for this model. Since there is the unlocked model from Samsung, I assume there is a official ROM from them (carrier independent).
Does anybody know where to download this official ROM?
Thanks!
If I am not mistaken, no. But we have some great Roms for this phone check them out. Trust me you don't want stock.

Thanks for your answer!
I wanted the stock mainly because some applications that I use explicitly say they don't run on "rooted or moded roms". So installing one of those customs roms would prevent me from using those applications. Maybe installing the stock one released by Samsung (on unlocked phones) the application would accept that.
Any idea or suggestion?
Seems obvious, but link was not so easy to find...
Here is the stock ROM for this model (attention: not carrier shipped, but manufactured shipped, rooted):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Exhibit_II_4G#Flash_Back_to_Stock
In my case it's still not the right solution since I have a carrier-shipped ROM and I would need to have this ROM back if they need to provide any service.

Because my phone has the carrier-custom ROM, not the clean manufacture one.
So if I have to send the phone back to carrier, they will notice the ROM was changed. This one I couldn't find...
I'm thinking about using CWM Recovery to backup the ROM. But... then the CWM will replace original Recovery System, so it's a signal that ROM was changed too...

It's my office app. Somehow they have explicit lock on custom or rooted phones (maybe for security). I already tried to install on another moded phone and it doesn't work. Only with factory or recognized ROMS.
I don't know how they identify that... but it happens!
I have an ODIN Stock ROM for the SE2, when thats flashed it takes away root and completly restores the phone to out of the box state.
want it?
The carrier is Tmobile.

No I didnt.
Iv had it in my downloads folder foreverr and I use it alot for when I soft brick and need to use a jig.
Since the jig puts my phone into download/ODIN mode, Iv always saved that folder cause it is ODIN friendly.
Why don't you just flash to what ever you wont and not worry about it and then if you were to have to ship it back to to t-mobile just use the directions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Exhibit_II_4G and flash back to stock. Because I am sure that is what he is uploading.

[Q] US AT&T A2 soft bricked while OTA and another question

hello
well to make it short i bought the atrix 2 from the US early when it came out and then i came to Dubai and all the annoying bloatware for AT&T have became more annoying by (NOT WORKING) when i was leaving i called them and they gave me the unlock code so im using the phone in Dubai, UAE and its working great, im on Victory Rom (Best rom ever) clean and elegant.
---------
now i found there is official ICS firmware for UAE Retails and it has the same number as my phone MB865 so my question is: can i flash that firmware to my AT&T phone ? and incase that is not possible, if i want a clean ICS ROM (made from the official OTA update not the leak) where i can find it ? and lastly if all is not possible what is the cleanest quickest and best ROM and will it work if i update to OTA ICS ?
sorry for taking too long and Thanks in advance
----------
that was what i wrote earlier but now i tried to do OTA and the phone stuck on the dual core technology screen so im thinking to Fxz but i dont know if i should do it for GB 2.3.6 or ICS ?
thanks a lot

To be very honest with you and AFAIK no one had tried to fxz to ICS from GB.but in theory it should work.
But this is what I'll suggest fxz to 2.3.6 and try OTAing.it should take you to ICS directly.

Ok so get this very clear if you phone it's AT&T one(it has AT&T written on the bottom) then you can't flash any other firmware.your only option is the AT&T firmware( from here).
And there are lots of ROMs that you can try.
StockyEd is pure OTA version of ICS.
Others are Numa, swifty trix ,scv7.Also we have CM10.

Help backing up, rooting, installing custom ROM, and gapps.

Hi guys,
I recently purchased the Google Nexus 5. I had it rooted and a custom ROM installed for like $35 by oneclickroot. However, I ordered a tempered glass screen protector for it and when I peeled off the plastic they use for shipping the phone the phone had tiny little chips in the screen. Therefore, I contacted Google for a replacement. I now have the replacement and I would like to backup the stock image, apps, settings, etc. Then, root the phone, and install a custom ROM and gapps. When trying to return my damaged Nexus 5 to stock for sending it back I stumbled on the Nexus Root Toolkit which I used to flash the stock image back, and lock the bootloader again. Therefore, I will be using the Nexus Root Toolkit for the actual rooting process. Could you guys tell me what I would need to backup my stock ROM? Will using the backup button in the Nexus Root Toolkit backup my ROM, apps, and settings? If I was using a custom ROM and was rooted and restored the backup would it unroot my phone and put it all the way back to stock? I would like to flash Cyanogen Mod again. I have downloaded the hammerhead nightly build of Cyano Mod. Could someone tell where to get the proper apps version? I am confused on the whole gapps thing. For gapps is there one specific one I should be using for my phone, or will I need a different gapps version depending on the custom ROM?
Thanks,
Rocky
Don't know,I don't use tools kits. But I'd make a nandroid in a custom recovery then copy pics, music, etc to my pc. Don't backup your efs in the nandroid though

Don't use the toolkit. rooting is simple enough anyway and it really benefits you to know what you're doing.

Lets just talk about a basic AOSP / CM rom. As long as you have the latest gapps package for the version of android you are on, you're fine. You'd use the same one whether you're on AOSP, CM, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 etc etc,,, as long as its the version for Android 4.4.2
Some ROMs such as Paranoid Andrid and SlimKat may have their own gapps packages. The norml gapps will work, but the special ones for slimkat my have more features for that rom built in,

Gapps will always be the same if the rom requires gapps. There are a few different gapps packages out there which contain everything from a minimum, banks comes to mind, to a full gapps package. But they are not rom specific

Thanks again fellas. I am looking up gapps now. I have 4.4.2 on my phone now. I have found a few different version and newer and older releases of gapps. For example goo.im gapps has this one gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip and on the paranoid android website it has this one as the latest one pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140531-signed.zip. So if I want to install anything other than Paranoid Android I could use the first gapps I linked too and if I want to use Paranoid Android I should use the second I linked too from there page? I am almost positive when oneclickroot flashed my phone they used the first one but they flashed Carbon. Can I make nandroid backups without rooting? I want to make a backup that will take me completely back to stock for warranty purposes in case I ever have to return the phone like I did my first one. Therefore, if root is needed that won't work because it would be backing up the rooted stock.
You paid $35 for a custom rom? I've got some magic beans you can have for £100
You can use paranoid android gapps on any ROM. There is nothing specific. Read the gapps thread here on xda to find out which package includes which apps

Yeah its a lesson learned. I had actually rooted my moms ZTE Merit a while back but I though things would of changed by now. I just didn't want to mess up the phone and there was things I didn't know at the time I paid for the rooting. However, I went through the steps to root my new phone yesterday and it was successful and I also got CyanogenMod successfully installed with gapps. I can't believe how damn easy it was. Makes me wish I had my $35 back! Oh well lesson learned I guess.
If I want to return the custom ROM back to a fresh state like you can do with the stock ROM can I just use the backup/reset feature and do a factory reset? I did that yesterday and the phone seams to be okay.

A factory reset doesn't touch the system partition, it only erases the data partition, so any changes made to the system (i.e. root) will persist after a factory reset.

Yes you need to install this firmware with odin. Companies do that to get money by making specific roms for specific carriers, the carriers get promoted and earn more money. Well i dont know much about strapbootloader but i have used multirom manager on my moto g to boot multiple roms and yes if strap bootloader allows to install custom roms than you can install Stock rom as primary and cm11 as secondary.
