Hi
i'm trying to install the Unofficial Carbon ROM but it will not boot. I was previously using the AOPK ROM.
I press "clear every thing but sd card" and that works, I check the md5 of the ROM and gapps and their correct, I flash/install both of them and then flash the boot img in fastboot but it still won't work, any ideas/fixes thanks.

What if it says image update error after you attempt the zip recovery method and you are stuck on bootloader with only options to fastboot and go no where except option to go back to bootloader and the factory reset sends you to fastboot and the image crc is 0x0 on everything?

You can still make your phone normal. If you have working fastboot or bootloader your phone is not bricked.
You can reflash recovery, radio , and other firmware related stuff .
Sorry but can i get directions on what files are needed to reflash and how to do it. Since my phone is already in a bad state I dont want to risk bricking it.

Where is the radio information ?? Doesn't show ??
It does not show a radio info
Why 2 threads
Try flashing this firmware. This is ICS only firmware, but if it gets things working for you. And you want to go back to gingerbread, then you can worry about that later

I got my HTC Sensation a few days ago second-hand, and it was already S-OFF and came with DarkSense. Since then I've been playing with a few ROMs, and after I installed ViperS and a kernel in it's hub (the updated Bricked kernel) I'm stuck in a bootloop.
I tried to:
- Recover a nandroid backup
- Wipe everything except SD card
- Install other ROMs/kernels
But it's still stuck
I searched the forums, and I came across some posts about SuperCID, but from what I understand that shouldn't be relevant for the firmware I'm using (the universal 3.33).
I also saw a post about smartflash, but that too shouldn't be relevant because I have S-OFF, correct?
Any help/suggestions are highly appreciated

After you get the phone booting again, install the TWRP recovery as it's the best recovery for S-OFF users. If you have any questions on flashing a boot.img file then feel free to ask

so other then an unlocked bootloader, it's completely stock? If it is and you want to keep it that way you can always send it in for repair. At a price though since you have a unlocked bootloader, and I don't think you can get it originally locked again. only relocked. You don't have warrenty this way.
You could also install a custom ROM

Hi,
Look HERE
2. Flashing a recovery
Try re-installing your recovery.
Then, follow the rest of the thread to install a custom ROM.

You haven't bricked your phone, if it can power on at all it isn't bricked. Read my Evita FAQ thread and my How-To Guide For Beginners thread, both are in my signature, your answer more than likely lies within.

"set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error in /tmp/update.zip

Installation aborted."
i look in the FAQ, couldnt find it. maybe its because its late here, idk, but thanks for the super speedy replies!
What are your bootloader details? And exactly which recovery are you using?

How do you not know? You should know what you're flashing to your device. To make it easy for you, you need to be running the unofficial modified version of TWRP 2.6.3.0 to flash KitKat ROMs. It did state that in my Evita FAQ thread. You'll find it in our Original Android Development section.

Now we should be able to install a Stock ROM RUU - I am still looking for one that fits.
...and start all over.
What I did to get into this trouble:
- made some experience with an old Motorola Defy and a Samsung Galaxy S3
- got this HTC Desire S with german Telekom branding
- said: " oh no problem, I'll fix you old phone for you." <-- first mistake
- installed the drivers (HTC Sync)
- updated latest android SDK
- used fastboot to unlock <-- second mistake?
- installed ClockworkMod
- rebooted and recognized the T-Branding before the recovery screen coming up
- ignored it <-- third mistake
- OS crash

Relocken and then the right RUU
And the phone goes on!
I had to try 2 different RUU before it worked.
