[Q] Is there any difference between stock ROM's? - Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500

Hi All,
Is there any difference between the unbranded UK stock ROM from 2012 against, say, a ROM from the Czech Republic released in 2014? They are the same version but have a different PDA version(?).
Additionally, which custom ROM, ideally Android 4.1 and above, is most stable for general daily use, including working camera, good battery life, etc?
Thanks!
LM

you can use cm 10.0(android 4.1.2) pure galaxy rom, its the best in jellybean without any bugs(wifi tether, camcorder problem), or you can use speedmod which is based on kitkat 4.4.2.(wiffi hotspot and camcorder bug), kitkat is more fast :silly:

The difference between ROM is the release date, in this case the one from 2014 would be with less bugs and better system stability
i had oldest romanian ROM, and i always had ramdump critical errors.
Updating the ROM solved everything

Okay that's brilliant, thanks for your help!

When was this found out/announced?
Is it any different from the stock 2.2.1 SBF (UK version) found on and-developers?
If anyone gets their hands on this build please post a screenshot of the About screen.

Oh ok, my bad.
This is the same version which is on and-developers.. it was announced few months back as far as I know.
It also uses the older kernel. Newest official kernel is the Arabic/African one. You can check this out in the kernel collection thread.
Motorola started rolling out the Froyo update in stages. This might've showed up only now.
Rom in general
used this for 24 hours now battery life better than most other roms and it must be said uk version must have been polished in some way over german release or aisia.no fc's so must be great for stock foyo rom
That said missing miui so going back to that
I've also uploaded a couple of days ago this rom up on my moto.Clean install from 2.1 and works very well.
Battery life on that ROM is unacceptable.
Did update from stock UK eclair and i have to say 2.1 was far battery friendly..

Funny I got this version months ago from the Motorola UK site sitting here in Bangladesh and I updated via the update tool provided by Motorola.
The only difference I see here is that my build number is SHOLS_U2_05.26.0.

[Rom] RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_KT_KR_3.13.1010.2_R2_Radio_12.68.60.29U_26.16.04.09_M_release
Seems legit. Atleast it's multilingual.
But i can't confirm anything.
The download speed would be horrible anyway because it's a chinese server and that is like really far away from me.

I know of that thread but the newest on there is RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_R_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.0 which is what im using. thought the abovementioned one is newer. Not a big difference though I guess. But you know what we are like. Always wants the newest one
Found this just now http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431986
[ROM ORIGINAL] RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.13.707.4
i think it should be 405 for WWE though here is link for that

or maybe
http://hf6.hipfile.com:8080/d/2h64z...60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_227469_signed.exe
This rom is for Korean carrier KT's. If you install this, you'll face a lot of carrier-specific bloatwares that you have never seen. However, many Korean rooters wanted to find this RUU due to enhanced call quality which was reported in Korean site.
Anyway, thank you!

Yes, it seems so. I checked the version of radio, so I found it same as this one. I heard those who upgraded to 3.17.1010.2 got better call quality than the previous version, so I guess there were multiple certain changes. I guess this 3.13.1010.2 version was updated due to bugs occurred in Google Korean Keyboard. Anyway, I cannot say there is no difference between RIL of this and that, though.
Ok so where do we get 3.13 or 3.17 from then?
I installed RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_ARA_3.13.415.2_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_227469_signed and Palestine.3.13.415.2 and both down have english (US) or UK and the market is in a foreign currency

I don't know. Recently, I haven't seen RUU leaks related HTC Korea from a few months ago...
Has anyone got a mirror? From the site posted in the OP it's taking me a day to download, if nothing goes wrong.
Here the link too downloud

[Q] Best firmware for battery performance?

I recently unlocked my bootloader and applied Telstra branded JB to my phone, that was previously running stock ICS, performance seems faster, but battery drains much quicker.
What would be the recommended firmware/ROM to enhance my battery performance?
My phone is XT 925.

Hi,
I have really good battery and GPS performance with latest SFR 4.1.2 build Feb 4 ROM.
Bye
I can confirm the good performance of the SFR 4.1.2. I have flashed the retail french 4.1.2 and I think I have shorter battery lifetime.

Thanks for the quick answer!
Now, what I did when I flashed the Telstra one, was to include my carrier's bands to get 4G/HDSPA. Should I do something similar when using this France file? I just wonder because the Australian-European difference, since I'm on an American (region wise) phone.
You are probably right, I can't really tell, but it seems we don't have same band... I'm in France, so no problem for me with SFR ROM.

The one you say is 4.1.1, from the JB thread, or is it another one? That was the only one I could find around.

Flash the SFR rom 4.1.1 then update via OTA ...
You get the 4.1.2 ... Delete all bloatware ...
Wipe data and cache ...
Install your appz ...
Enjoy the great perf and battery...
If you are in LATAM or CANADA ... Flash the radio file from Rogers !

I'm not sure how long your battery used to last before as you didn't specify but I am on stock Telstra JB 4.1.2 and I easily get 2 days out of my battery with moderate use. I'm not sure if I could ask for anything more than that..!!
Cheers

I'm trying to update via OTA, and it downloads, the phone turns down, and then, after a few seconds the android animation appears with a little red triangle, and turns on without update at all... What could I do in this situation?

I'm a heavy user and with ICS I could squeeze 14-15 hours from a charge. With this JB, and same type of use, I can't seem to get more than 10 hours.I'll give this one SFR a spin and report my results. Maybe it's a heavy-battery-use thing.
To have a good battery performance on Jelly Bean you should disable Google Now and all locations related services. After that, you'll enjoy a better smartphone than ever.

Thanks for the advice! I guess Google Now eats up more battery than I thought.
Also this SFR version seems to be doing wonders for my battery. Now I get 20 hours-1 day of usage, with the same amount of use!
Now I just wonder if there's a workaround for installing the OTA update because I tried several times and it's not taking.

[Q] What is the most recent version of Androd with ALL features stable and working?

Hey guys. I am just about to upgrade my old P6800 7.7 from ICS to a newer version of Android to give to my father. However it's a but confusing reading the development section trying to figure out which ROM has th least bugs and stability issues.
What I am looking for is the most recent version of Android possible with ALL features stable and working. It is for my technologically-challenged father so I absolutely cannot have him running into errors.
Can those who read this section regularly please point me in the direction of the most up to date, "bulletproof" ROM for this device?
Cheers,
Richdog.
Assuming youhave a P6800 ?
If your after all features stable and working for a non-techi, I wouldn't go past stock Samsung JB 4.1.2. You can use PC Odin program to manually flash with having latest USB drivers installed etc first. There are many guides around for that.
Firmware can be downloaded from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com .
Although the DXMD3 firmware is released for SE Asia only, English is available if your Father uses that. The only possible bug you might encounter is that 5 GHz WIFI band may not work for some. It may be CSC related, but not heard of anything else that could cause major grief.
Best of luck

Eu or Cn rom?

Im currently using the official b560 software for eu, but i wanna use the cn rom too. So can anyone tell the difference in features, performance and one who tested both which one he preferes?
There is not much differance eu comes with google apps and china chimes with hi apps. The benefit is to use cn rom cuz it updates more frequently and has built in call recording. Thank if it helps
I don't think there'll be any difference. And the stress involved in installing a cn rom is not worth it since performance is mainly the same
